Let me preface this by Guns, Germs, and Steel.
It's just a shame that the continent has a lot of progress to go through, and it has so much potential. Their rate of progress is steep, but they're just so far behind. With the abundance of resources, they could do a lot in terms of world economics, production, etc. All that needs to happen is a change of how things are ran (except the Europeans screwed that up). I wonder how the sub saharan region will be 100 years from now. They have my support.

Silly OP, Africa isn't real!

1 RespuestaSome parts of the continent are better off than others. Africa isn't just a continent of collective failed states, you know?

2 RespuestasEurope has basically had the same teething problems as Africa does now, only it hasn't been inflamed by automatic rifles and the lack of arable land across the African continent. Europe encountered massive plagues and episodes of warfare dragging their sorry asses into the industrial age - you can't point the finger at Africa and claim that the blame rests solely on them - it is likely that every society dragged kicking and screaming from a primarily agricultural age into the 21st century will react in such a manner. Of course as stated before, it's problems are compounded by the innovative ways we've found to kill each other, great droughts, and the exploitation of natural resources by western and chinese companies - who are able to bribe government officials to ensure that the profits from the sales of these resources go into the companies' pockets instead of contributing to the GDP and growth of these countries. It's not the fault of the Africans that they are stuck in a nightmarish halfway state between agricultural and industrial society - perhaps a little consideration is due before attack hm?

2 RespuestasOf course I do. It's sad that hundreds of years a ago, people went over there, ruined it for the people there and then, when they were kicked out, bad people took over in a situation that good people would even have struggled to sort out. Same happened in America, just they weren't kicked out. They completely took over and did well for themselves. Can't say the same for the people who were there first though...

I feel bad for them all the time

Editado por Spartan 22O: 11/28/2013 8:32:09 AMNo bc we waste our time trying to help the poor africans and make no progress while here in our own countries we continue to struggle with poverty and the black market and whatnot. We need to figure our own problems out first instead of wasting money on building a school in countries where theres no teachers.

Yeah, but then I see how many Big Macs I can cram into my mouth at once.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who watched that movie. It actually had some good things to teach, Geographic Luck for the win. Still though, even if Britain hadn't gone in there and taken so much for Brittania, I still don't think they would have done too well. The Country lines and resources still cause problems to this day.

2 RespuestasThere's a little African Child trapped in me.

Not one bit

14 RespuestasOut of interest, why does everybody have such a problem with the whole natural resources thing? While civilizations across the rest of the world were busy advancing, Africans hadn't invented the wheel. They weren't about to start commercial mining operations. We've since hauled their backward asses into the 21st century, and if they want to start competing on the free market, they're more than welcome. But I can't see why just being on the same arbitrary landmass as oil and uranium deposits means you have a God-given right to them.

America has too many problems for me to worry about Africa. With that being said, the state their country is in is truly a tragedy.

When I watched the Hunger Games I noticed its kind of like that besides well you know the games and culture. So what I'm saying id we in 1st world countries have all this tech and clean water, while others have nothing and we just sit here and laugh and ignore everything else at times

Why does anyone even live in Africa?

3 RespuestasIf Europeans had a stronger presence in Africa like in America, it wouldn't be a shitty place.
-
Editado por King Assclown: 11/28/2013 2:17:51 AMYeah. I mean, they'd be a whole lot better off if Europe didn't f*ck them so hard during the 19th and 20th centuries
-
10 RespuestasNo, its their fault they are the way they are today.

36 RespuestasEditado por Djpugh_: 11/27/2013 8:23:48 PMMay I ask how Europeans like me have screwed this up. I am guessing you are American, correct me if I'm wrong, so don't go talking about screw ups when your country acts like 'world police'. *Edit:I've realised i was thick about this-_- Sorry if it has offended anyone...

5 RespuestasNo. Africa has received aid in the form of food, clothes, fresh water, money, and other resources for years, yet the people there don't put it to good use. Sure, it's kind of Europe's and America's fault that there in that mess, but they're the ones who choose not to come together to fix their damn continent. The people who screwed Africa over all those years ago are long dead. No one alive to day is responsible for, nor are they obligated to help with, Africa's problems. Africans are the ones living there, so it's their problem, not ours.
-
1 RespuestaWell, Africa is gonna get it's ass wrecked in about 540 years, so I do feel bad for them.
-
3 RespuestasI feel bad for those poor aliens. Sure they were moved to District 10, but I feel like it's still not enough.
-
At this rate, there will never be a new Mombassa and a giant space lift :(

I just wanted to put this here. This is how actual good is being done through charity in Africa. Letting people decide what to do with aid is better than us saying "You need food," or "You need water."
