So what is with all these people trying to say homosexuality is accepted in the bible?
I am just curious, I would like to discuss this with anyone that has been led to believe this.
My stand on homosexuality: I accept that they have made the choice to live that lifestyle, however, I do not approve of the intimate side, just as some wouldn't approve of say a foot fetish, it just isn't my ideal of what sex is meant to be like.
Now I know the bible quite well, I have read it through quite a few times and study it thoroughly, sourcing to actual Hebrew words and Latin so that I may have a greater understanding of the scriptures. Now, from what I have read and researched on my own accord in no way is being homosexual condoned in the bible, the closest thing is Jesus telling us to love everyone as we would ourselves. That however doesn't mean we have to like what that person does, or condone it. The bible clearly states fornication is a sin, and homo-sexuality is placed within that broad term in the actual Hebrew text, which some translations do not show. The reason for this sadly is for simplification and a more flowing format, who wants to read... Do not fornicate....which actually means, Do not sleep with a man if you are a man, or a women if you are a women, nor bed with animals, or perform intercourse with a women who is menstruating.
Now, all the bible is teaching is that by God standards these things are a sin (harmful to us in some way, Spiritually, emotionally,Physically). It does not however anywhere tell a christian to hate someone who is Gay, it in fact tell us the extreme opposite to love them all the more and treat them as we would treat one who is dearest to us. Just because the scripture speaks/spoke to you, doesn't mean it speaks to that one person at the time. In close, do not judge in hate but rebuke in love.
TLDR; Christianity is about love and acceptance even when a person is doing what the bible says is wrong.

All sin is the same, small or big, in gods eyes. "I shall throw my stone when I see a man who has never sinned ."

4 RespuestasIt's true that homosexuality is condemned... in the Old Testament. The same source that states that a [r]ape victim must marry her [r]apist, eating certain meats and wearing mixed fabrics is sinful, animal sacrifice is mandatory, and rebellious children deserve execution. As for the New Testament, Jesus never brought up homosexuality at all and the mentions of homosexuality in Paul's writings are too often taken out of context as these articles explain.

You have a controversial view, but you acknowledge that being christian is to love someone even when they do something you disagree with. Good on you.

28 RespuestasHomosexuality isn't a choice. That's the problem with your argument. "I'm going to ignore all the evidence that your sexuality isn't a choice and that it doesn't affect anyone but you and I'm going to disapprove of your partners" isn't love or acceptance.
I accept that they have made the choice to live that lifestyle,
Three sentences in and you've already lost all credibility. Gotta be a record.

1) Homosexuality is not a choice. Gay people didn't choose to be gay any more than you chose to be straight. 2) People said that to get a rise out of you. There may, or may not be passages that say being gay is right or wrong. Who cares. It's not like anyone follows ALL of the Bible anyways. Everyone picks and chooses to justify their lifestyle. 3) Quote the Bible all you want, you are only arguing with other Christians at that point. You might as well be arguing over Harry Potter as far as I care...
-
I don't care if it says that in the bible, nor do I care what the bible has to say about anything. It's kind of the point of not being a christian. Using your bible to further a point is like using a comic book to prove Spider-man is real.
