1 – 100 lashes for having premarital sex
Justification: The Quran 24:2
Read 24:4 - You need 4 credible witnesses who catches them doing the act, and if any of the witnesses lied about a previous incident and was telling the truth about this one, you still can't accept his testimony. Islam makes it very hard to get caught and people know about the penalty before hard so if they do it it's their fault.
2 – Do not take Jews and Christians as Allies
Justification: The Quran 5:51
You don't know Arabic. The word is Awliyaa which is plural for Wali. Wali normally means protector, guardian, patron. The Quran says that Muslims can marry Jews and Christians but can't be friends with them? It means don't take them as protectors. Sometimes wali can mean friend but not in this case.
3 – Fight those who do not accept Islam & fight until they give Jizya (tax paid by non-Muslims)
Justification: The Quran 9:29
Read from verse 1 and learn some of the history since chapter 9 is a difficult subject. This had to do with the Pagans who broke the peace treaty of hudaybiyyah. If they want to live in the country, they pay the taxes. The Jizya has stayed until today but started cause of that event.
4 – God Created the World in 6 Days
Justification: The Quran: 32:4
Same as the Bible you moron.
5 – Kill non-believers
Justification: The Quran 2:191, 9:123, and 9:5
Quran was revealed slowly. 2:191 was the first time they were given permission to fight, after 10 years in Mecca, they fled to Medina and a few years later they met on Badr. The verse is fair. It's saying to fight when they fight, and drive them out from where they drove you out. Read ahead a little. It says if they stop, you stop. How is this bad?
The first part of chapter 9 is about breaking of a treaty called huddaybiyah. It doesn't say "unbelievers". unbelievers in Arabic is "kaffir". The word kaffir is not there in the Arabic for verse 5. It says "mushrikeen" meaning a polytheist, pagans. Those pagans who broke the peace treaty and were given 4 months to make things right, things were not made right so a battle broke out called Hunayn. 9:6 says "If any of them wants protection, grant them protection"
6 – Let the non-believers burn in hell because Allah has purposely set a seal on their hearing (Why so he can punish people for fun?)
Justification: The Quran 2:6-7
Quran makes it very clear that God doesn't punish without someone having knowledge about it, without receiving multiple warnings. And if someone believes but rejects out of arrogance. A guy on an Island who has never heard about Islam can't be blamed. Plus your Christian God burns people in Hell too.
7 – Virgins awaiting those who enter paradise
The word virgins is not there in the Quran. Whatever is promised for men in paradise is the same as for women. Paradise in the Quran is described as having gardens and rivers. You can have a spouse if you want one. God asks Muslims to abstain from it here and they'll have it there.
8 – Don’t marry a polytheist, since it’s better to marry a slave that’s a believer over a polytheist
This passage also justifies clearly since it speaks of it so casually
Justification: Quran 2:221
Do you know what the polytheists were like during his time? They used to bury their daughters alive. Also most people on here will agree that it's better to marry someone of your religion. The worship of multiple gods or making partners with God is one of the biggest sins in Islam. If a Muslim married a pagan then there is a chance his kid will become one and commit the biggest sin. So this is actual good advice.
9 – Stay away from menstruating women, and don’t even approach them
It means don't approach with the intention of doing something sexual. You can still sit with them.
12 – Justification of Polygamy, of course only for men (men can have up to 4 wives)
The verse says to marry only one if you can't treat them fairly. Quran is the only book that says to marry one. Why would a woman want 4 husbands?
15 – Women are like objects that if you get tired of one there are instructions on how to replace her
Justification: Quran 4:20
But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount [in gifts], do not take [back] from it anything. Would you take it in injustice and manifest sin?
Can you read? It's saying if you do replace them don't take back any of the gifts you have given them.
16 – Men are in charge of women and they can beat women if the woman does not obey them
The word used in 4:34 is daraba which means to beat lightly and it also means to leave. The Prophet said that you can only hit the hand with something like a tooth brush. It's a symbolic beating.
17 – A male receives twice the share of females
Because all of the expenses are on the male. The wife gets to keep every penny of the money she earns so it's only fair that he gets more.
10 – Allah considers women to be like a dirty field and says men should come forward with their penises to plow the field
It doesn't say they are dirty. Men are the seed and women are the soil. It's saying to do it with your wife so you don't go impregnating other women.
After a divorce there is a 3 month period where they stay together to see whether or not they can really stand to be seperated and in that period they can remarry. But if the woman doesn't want to then it's over. They are already divorced so they move on.
18 – Homosexual acts are condemned as unnatural and only committed by transgressors
Justification: Quran 7:81
7:80 - And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his people, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds?
You sure know how to read out of context. It's talking about the people of Lot. In the Quran he was their messenger. The Bible punishes them for the same sin.
19 – Muslim women must reduce their vision and cover themselves
Justification: Quran 24:31
24:30 says the same thing about men. And you are reading one translation. It says to "lower your gaze" meaning to have shame. Also the Bible says that a woman who doesn't cover needs to shave her head.
21 – If instructions for divorcing your wife were not bad enough, the Quran also gives instructions on how to divorce the kids you married (absolutely disgusting)
Instrucions on divorce is bad? LOL. Divorce is extremely common and the Quran is telling people how to do it because God knows that people will want to get divorced. Read the whole chapter.
22 – If you don’t believe in Islam you will burn in the fire for an eternity
Like I said it depends on the person. Every situation is different.
If I skipped anything I really don't give a shit. If you want to learn about these topics I can send you some videos. I don't know why I even bothered, I'm responding to a troll.

Reply seriously make this into another topic cause in truth this is a whole different topic. As there are 100+ replies under your comment.
-
This should be a topic in itself.
-
Couldn't have said it better myself!

Sounds like interpretation. Irregardless of the religion, they are all bad.
-
yeah, "it's bad" once you take something out of context, misunderstand it, and use it for personal gain.
-
But thats what im getting at. No one can really make a defacto interpretation of it. The underlining problem, whether its an interpretation that is beneficial, or malicious, it is regularly used as a means to an end,and by it, i don't mean just the quran, but religious texts, and religion in general. Paint it however you want, but all the morals and good things that religion could potentially bring, depending on interpretation, you could do the same without it. You dont need religion to be good or bad, you dont need it to help your fellow man, you dont need it to have morals.
-
Yeah and you don't need a law to keep people from murdering eachother either right? We're just perfect butterflies that would always do the right thing? -blam!- no. Many people would do something bad if they could get away with it. Thus laws. Schools tend to not teach anything about morals due to its subjective nature, so parents have to do that. Where do most parents turn to when teaching morals (at least in America)? Religion. People tend to keep using things that work. And also people tend to not like that their life is meaningless and pointless, so it's comforting to believe in an afterlife/religion. Atheists should think of it as a white lie and just leave the religious to do what they please, unless of course somebody's rights are being infringed upon.
-
Come on mother-blam!-er, are you afraid of being waterboarded with gasoline? MMMMMM THAT SMELL ISN'T GOING TO COME OFF ANY TIME SOON
-
??? What does this have anything to do with what I said?
-
You insulted my family. Let's get it on if that's how you want it I'll be on the next plane to your house to sort your ass out.
-
I thought this was the same family that gave you trouble cause of religion? lol. You don't even know who the -blam!- I am, so go ahead and stick a cork in your ass to keep the smell of bullshit from smelling up this thread. If you want to become irrational, that's your prerogative. If you seriously want to fight me, that's up to you. You want my address? I'll PM it to you if you want lol.
-
Wait wait wait, what? I said me and my family were persecuted for having a different religion. There's been a huge misunderstanding.
-
Oh... *sheaths katana* well...this is awkward...lol
-
-
well sorry for the insults then. *holds out olive branch*
-
Me too.

Peoples rights are being butchered regularly because of religion, and peoples interpretation of it.

That without religion you're born to use resources, procreate, and die? That's all life devolves to without faith.
Peoples rights are being butchered regularly because of religion, and peoples interpretation of it.
Because of religion? Or because some asshole in power has an agenda? Look, there are plenty of people in Guantanimo suffering because the American Govt has a secret agenda. The taliban keep terrorizing people because they want to keep the populace uneducated, if they're uneducated they'll be able to rule them through fear. The atrocities in N.Korea are done so that Kim can suppress his people and keep them from uprising in order to continue his dynasty and power. Assad started bombing his people so he could keep his wealth and power Did the IRA use religion? Hitler? Mao? Stalin? No. Do you want me to continue? Do you honestly believe that these things are done because of religion? Now you must be thinking "what about Osama?" "what about all the evil muslim countries?" And I'll reply what about America? what about Italy? what about Russia? Because NEWSFLASH we all violate eachother's rights. The western world doesn't give two shits about your privacy, none. Oh and if you noticed the US govt shutdown, they really don't care about their own citizens. Don't get me started on Russia. So no, I don't think our rights would be any less violated if religion didn't exist, people would rile up the stupid mobs of people to kill innocents through other means. (read: for "freedom" or "security") P.S. I respect you too

Largely based in religious principles.
So no, I don't think our rights would be any less violated if religion didn't exist, people would rile up the stupid mobs of people to kill innocents through other means. (read: for "freedom" or "security")
Wait, are you agreeing then that religion doesnt really serve a purpose?
-
This, ill start with something simple, womens rights
So many countries, like America, didn't let women vote because of religion? Or was it because the men in power didn't want to give up their power? Because when America was founded, only white, property owning, citizens could vote.
genital castration for women
If you did a quick google search on female castration, it didn't stem from religion. It's more of a cultural practice. scroll down to "history". It was something done far before any current religion was set up. It doesn't even say in Islam to do anything to female genitals, I don't know about other faiths though.
Wait, are you agreeing then that religion doesnt really serve a purpose?
No, I don't think I said that. What I meant is that stupid people can be influenced to do horrible things quite easily. How do you think all the evil dictators did it before (stalin, hitler, mao, etc)? They didn't need religion. I really believe the taliban is using the "flag of islam" to somehow justify their actions, but they're just doing it for power and perks that come with it.

Editado por challengerX: 10/8/2013 12:23:44 PMIt's bad in more ways than that. Reading a book written by people hundreds of years ago filled with hatred, ignorance and bigotry is a waste of time. People study that shit all their life instead of doing something valuable. This goes for all religions. Religion has not made you a good person, YOU ARE a good person. You don't need religion to be yourself.
-
>reading a book filled with hatred, ignorance and bigotry is a waste of time I don't think you've studied history then. Go back ONE GENERATION and we used to be to soo damn prejudiced to blacks. Yes, society has became progressively better, but not until recently. Many modern muslims don't kill christians, jews, and atheists. If you want to believe that we do then you're just delusional.
