American forces are "ready" to launch strikes on Syria if President Barack Obama chooses to order an attack, US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel says.
"We have moved assets in place to be able to fulfil and comply with whatever option the president wishes to take," Mr Hagel told the BBC.
US Secretary of State John Kerry has said there is "undeniable" proof that Syria used chemical weapons.
The UK Parliament is to be recalled on Thursday to discuss possible responses.
Prime Minister David Cameron, who has cut short his holiday and returned to London, said MPs would vote on a "clear motion" on the crisis.
Syria's allies, Russia and China, have stepped up their warnings against military intervention in Syria, with Moscow saying any such action would have "catastrophic consequences" for the region.
So Russia and China on one side, UK, US and most likely NATO, EU and the Commonwealth on the other.
I can only imagine Russia and China are scaremongering and not willing to step in to help Syria like they did for NKorea and Vietnam.
-
lol @ idiots who actually think Russia and China will help Syria.

3 RespuestasWhere's France in all this? ... Oh.

Not really worried about China and Russia. Nothing happened when we said "-blam!- the UNSC" in 1999 with Kosovo. If anything Iran could be a problem from our cruise missile strikes but I can't be sure at this point.
-
-
1 RespuestaWho the -blam!- is Assad? o.O
-
lol and the Russians and Chinese wonder why they're always the bad guys in our action films and video games.
-
Hmm interesting, first China supported UN to inspect Syria where they used chemical weapons, but then people tried to snipe UN agents..what if China is involved?!
-
2 RespuestasJust a quick question. Isn't it illegal for the US to attack without an approval from the UNSC?

US vs. Russia? Fallout and Metro games will happen.

1 RespuestaSo I haven't been paying attention to the news. Why would we attack Syria?
-
9 RespuestasI assume that NATO will go in and bomb it. I doubt that there will be much involvement on the ground.
-
2 Respuestas
Prime Minister David Cameron, who has cut short his holiday and returned to London...
No surprises there -- on holiday again.
-
1 RespuestaI know this, but nobody seemed to care in my thread. I'll just copy paste all the links from that thread here.
-
What's the point of this? It's almost as if the US and possibly the Commonwealth begged for Russia to attack them.
-
A. Those talking about the draft coming back in the US are idiots. That would be political suicide for anyone who tried it. B. Russia and China don't support going after Assad for the same reason they don't support going after North Korea and Iran: they make money from stuff they sell to those countries. C. The UN is useless, and the US and other countries shouldn't have to get approval from them before doing ANYTHING!
-
The only thing I don't understand is why the almost 100,000 deaths caused by this civil war was not enough to justify action but several hundred being gassed is? And yes in that 100,000 non-combatants are part of the statistic. So if our excuse is one of morality why were we not already involved?
-
>Go against the UN >Launch attack on a country with WMD's >Help the terrorists Why does this sound familiar?
-
Anyone that gasses children deserves a solid ass whoopin'.

9 RespuestasThis is a horrible move. Yes Syria is in a dire situation, but we shouldn't just go to war and supply people have have ties to terrorist organisations like Al-Queda weapons. Last time that happened two towers in New York fell and a sparked a war in Afghanistan what is still lasting to this day

I'm surprised nobody has posted this yet. Flood, you're slacking. Anyways, I really wish we didn't have to get involved, but it looks like we are going to. Now, if Russia and China get involved on the war, I'm afraid of what will happen, seriously. Something tells me if they jump into the war, this will give everybody a reason to use those nukes that they've been storing up. Who knows, I'm probably wrong on that last part, at least I hope I am. But if I'm right, I need to start stocking up on bottle caps.
-
I wish we would just stay out of it.
-
I honestly don't know what to think of this It has a good objective like Iraq and Afghanistan but like those two wars I could see us being bogged down Hopefully if it does happen the politicians will let the generals do their job this time.
