Will Microsoft go back on its used game policies?

After Sony's blow to Microsoft's theoretical face, (which surprised me, and I have always been an Xbox guy) do you all think that Microsoft will go back on their word? As it stands, Playstation has a real advantage at the moment. Cheaper price point and consumer friendly. Let me know what you guys think.

  • if microsoft releases a console that doesn't require kinect...which should make it cheaper (i mean xbone is a full 100 bucks more expensive than the ps4) my money goes to the xbox one. BUT, if they keep the price at $500 and insist on sauron's eye in my living room...im staying with the 360 or moving to ps4.

I don't think they can, even if they want to. The entire system and software was likely built around these policies, and it's either too close to launch to revise it or it can't be removed at all without re-working the entire console. I would say Microsoft shot themselves in the foot on this one, but I think a better analogy would be that they nuked themselves from orbit. By the way, this is coming from someone who desperately wanted Xbox One to stay in this thing, because I love that controller and Titanfall looks really fun. I was not convinced to switch to Playstation. But Sony came in and just killed it.

    • Why should they ? There used game policy is completely optional for developers/publishers to decide they put the feature in to make publishers want to make games for the Xbox meaning more games for Xbox gamers. Maybe developers will implement that feature for a certain time after release of there game and then turn it off when there game is older Microsoft already said that loaning games is not impossible it just not going to be there when the console comes out its still a possibility.

But ps 4 is cheaper because you get a lot less in my opinion. Xbox is def a more innovative all around system for today's entertainment.

      • Depends if they even can. The system was made with those policies (or more strict versions of them) in mind. I doubt they're going to completely get rid of them, but they'll likely ease them back as much as possible.

Not immediately, maybe later on down the road in the One's lifespan they'll ease up some policies. Microsoft has invested too much in these DRM systems and policies for them to just do a 180 right away.
