The Bible is a compilation of Influential and Informative stories/accounts, along with a plethora of moral poems and psalms.
So why so much hate?

its awesome, but like all graphic novels it's fan base can be a little extreme. Trek nerds are always ready to throw down with Jedi cosplayers and that's nothing compared to the great Hulk vs Superman debate. So basically the problem isn't just inherit in the book, but it's readers. Of course in this case the book also sorta tends to tell its readers from time to time how to live their lives in some really contradictatroy ways. That's like the super friends saying sacrifice a goat to get out of Apocalypse or taking your forgiving super powers and simply condemn anything you perceive as a affront to the Dc comics like all the Mus...mutants at Marvel comics.

2 RespuestasMany of its morals are irrelevant in todays society, and some of the stuff it preaches are downright insane, like owning slaves from nearby countries is perfectly acceptable. I will not deny that it has some good messages, but the very idea that shaving means you to hell and the way its message has been used to wage war on other religions and the way those that represent christian faith have behaved over the centuries is wrong.

2 RespuestasNothing is wrong with it. People that hate it are bigoted idiots.
-
The huge number of contradictions.
-
It's a neat book, I just hate the rabid fans. I swear they can be worse than twilight fans at times.
-
All the contradictions. Then people taking it as undeniable fact.

Editado por MastaSin: 3/22/2013 7:01:22 PMFor me, the bible it's a book that stole tales of ancient beliefs. I used to read the bible when I was very young and I found a lot inconsistencies and lack of logic in most of it's stories, then I focused on the ancient world, greek mythology, Nordic mythology and celtic mythology and I realized much of this ancient mythologies were stolen and were put mashed up in this "holy book".

Editado por KaylaKiss: 3/22/2013 6:04:10 PMI'll share a few verses that people, such as myself, have problems with... On Family Matters: Matthew 10:34-37 (NIV) "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law — a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household. Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." On women and church: 1 Timothy 2:12 "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." God's opinion on children and insults: 2 Kings 2:23-24 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. Thous Shall not kill... unless God says so: Numbers 31:7 "They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man." and the list goes on...

2 RespuestasEditado por M1Silencer: 3/22/2013 6:58:03 PMProbably only the people who take it to extremes are hated. Otherwise eh Never take extremes, extremes bad. also:
Posted By: Mad Max There are some good teachings in it - sure. Love thy neighbor and all that good stuff. But there's also horrible stories of death, torture, -blam!-, etc. Plus, with all the contradictions within it make it difficult for me to see why people would use it as a foundation for their worldview.
Aww, my poll is gone. :( sad day

1 RespuestaWhy can't I vote on this poll?
-
I like the worlds number one bestseller.
-
Because extremists happened. The bible has nothing wrong with it. Its the way many people choose to use it.

Editado por Green Twister: 3/22/2013 3:19:13 PMi am staying neutral on this stuff even if i don't belive in anything bible related

1 RespuestaYou do realize you're just giving the atheist trolls an opportunity to spread stupidity, right?
-
4 RespuestasThere's nothing "wrong" with the Bible itself, other than being riddled with historical errors and contradictions. There is something wrong with people who use it to defend their disgusting and dangerous beliefs.
-
The confusing bits?
-
Wont let me vote, but everything.
-
The problem with the bible is that people take it literally. The book itself is actually very well written and provides many metaphors for morality and doing the right thing.
-
What's the difference between everything and 'all if it's (sic) contents'?
-
Well if people accepted it as fiction and only used it for inspiration I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with it.
-
the Bible mostly speaks the language of parables and metaphors ^ this is the reason why most people don't understand it.
-
Editado por Seggi: 3/22/2013 11:29:51 AMWell, I mostly just dislike all the unsubstantiated claims about the supernatural. That aside, it's kind of boring.
-
Because the Bible is a tool that is used to take away peoples' rights and to spread hate and fear.
-
3 RespuestasThere's wisdom in all things. Some people just disregard it because it's affiliated with religion.
-
Because Glenn Beck pointed out Satan looks similar to Obama. So everyone started getting mad.

5 RespuestasOn a somewhat related note, it's at least WAAY more accurate and reliable than that historical butchery known as the Qur'an, with varying versions all throughout history, excerpts on the walls of Mosques that can't be found in any known version of the Quran, constant edits, hadiths related to lost passages etc.
