Bungie.next Beta: Day TWO
Bungie Community,
Welcome to the second day of our beta. It's been 24 hours, and we've detected several shifts in the weather. Feedback has been collected. Enhancements have been discussed. Work has begun on a few changes that have us even more excited about this brave new world.
Keep talking to us. Migrating to this new platform for interaction is a challenge. The more you can tell us what would make things better, the better we will make things.

Sub forums (Halo, the Flood, Community, etc.) Show the URL where it says, "View at your own risk." Darker background. Pages, pages, pages. Constant scrolling is so annoying. First-to-last post system, like it used to be. Quote system instead of replying to replies. It sucks having to click to view every comment's replies. I'm OK with hashtags, but they really aren't necessary if we get sub forums. This site is pretty small. I like notifications, but everything else... Not so much...

That is all.[/quote] This! other than that, and the white backround, I'm Okay with the changes and shiny newness. Honestly what bugged me the most was the removal of sub forums. The best way to describe this change for me, is that it makes the site harder to navigate (for me) which is why I stay in groups, because I find them easier, and maybe partly out of nostalgia.

Is there way to view the most recent comments other than scrolling all the way down? Can we have pages back as opposed to one big page?

2 RespuestasBungie, did all of your employees associated with this site recently suffer a concussion before releasing your beta? I suggest you all consult doctors. And actually start listening to the community. You can change the background color in a snap, as well as font color. But it's been several days now, and this hasn't happened, what the hell? The community is in uproar, and you're certainly not acting on it.

I would just like to ask a few simple questions like "where is the support subforum?" and "why doesn't the sign out button work?" also, "why am I still logged on after restarting my browser?"

I liked the list on the right, containing the most replied to threads. Also, we need the flood forum back, or at the very least, an official Bungie flood group, so the warring factions can finally make a truce, and go to one, greater group. Of course, the concept of a flood forum alone is preferred over the latter :)

One thing that's a bit annoying is the lack of the 'remember me' feature that the old bungie.net had. I used to only have to log in about once a week or whenever I reset my cookies but now I'm having to login about twice a day. I'm using the same microsoft account to log in that I used to.

I love the idea of having a beta to figure out the wants and likes of the Community. I think all the ideas I have had for improving the site have been said already, so keep up the good work :)

I can't figure out how to preview my posts. Is there a way to do that still? I always messed up my links or something before the update, and reviewing the text is just too hard. The preview feature made it easier to just browse through, in case my blue text failed.

Just something i wanted to say, the forum i would rather have them based on the old system, it was easier to read, you could easily look at things from new to old.

This means new threads won't get as much replies or should I comments. I made 3 threads 1 thread just about got 2 replies in 2 hours. On the old bungie.net layout I would have had atleast 10 replies in 5 minutes. This is crucial. Remove the sort by option and just go back to having newest at top hot topics/recently commented in the middle or the bottom. Also make pinned threads at the very top and very very very popular threads on the right hand side. Like the old bungie.net layout style sort by. This needs to come back the old sort by system worked really good. This update needs that formula back! Also remove the reply button so the threads only have a comment button and make the oldest posts be at the top and newest/latest at the bottom and make it so threads have pages instead of one endless page! Tone down the whiteness bungie go back to the black theme. Get rid of hashtags and bring back the seperate forums. Gaming forum, Community forum and feedback forum and off topic(please call it the flood!) forum. Make the avatars and the text size much bigger to please! HOPEFULLY YOU LISTEN BUNGIE!!!!!!!!!! READ IT!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *goes back to doing English homework" :(

1 RespuestaJust a small thing, but shouldn't groups that require approval to join have a "membership requires approval" tag? It's very convenient when looking through groups to see which ones are open.

2 RespuestasThis is just a pet peeve of mine right now. After clicking on a link, getting the "YOU'RE LEAVING BUNGIE.NET NOES" notification, and being whisked away to a new website, I wish that the notification would close after I click. It's just a nuisance manually closing that after coming back to my Bungie tab. It's a minor complaint, but it still bugs me when I'm switching between tabs or opening links on these forums.

I agree with most of what is being said. 1) The background needs to be darker because the white is hard on your eyes. Maybe have an option for people to choose between. 2) The reversed direction of comments is confusing. You automatically start reading from top to bottom and this can throw people off. 3) Adding a page system would help in larger threads if you want to see the start of the topic. 4) Splitting the topics up into different forums again would be great. The tags are a big help if you know the topic you are looking for, but when I just want to browse what is on the forum I can't find anything I want to post in. Using the tag system within a split forum could make it a bit easier to use them. 5) Private groups need some attention. I know the main forum is the priority at the moment, but leaders can't lock or edit topics. If you have a group that works together making weekly updates for a group only the person that starts the topic can make changes. 6) Giving the members the chance to filter what they see and don't see is a good idea, but turning down the censor isn't. If you don't want to see the language you can hide it now, but it still has to be read in the first place. From the information leaked from the lawsuit it seems like the new game could have a "T" rating. With younger members joining and more language allowed it seems to be a bad idea, IMO. 7) I have to finish on a good note, and a 7. The message system is a great improvement. Being able to see all past messages during the conversation can really help out for sending a bunch of messages between two people.

Apart from a darker background, a "show all replies by default" option would be nice, since, at least now, I check all the replies as I scroll down a thread, to avoid missing a interesting/funny comment.

Im really loving the notification system, and some of the other new features are pretty cool as well. BUT, Not so hot about the big white screen and the layout of the site in general. It looks alot like Twitter or something, witch I think is strange because Achronos did say this wasnt a social networking site, but now it looks an awful lot like one now. What it needs is a bit more organization, like how it used to be with 4 seperate forums instead of hashtags.

Great job bungie - amazing job on 99% of this update. Things to change or discuss 1. There needs to be a way to ensure the offical bungie tags get used - catagories has been the best argument I have read. 2. Chronological post order (atleast the option to do so) [url=http://www.bungie.net/en-US/View/community/Forum/Post?id=8136924&groupId=0]Logical argument[/url] 3. Change sorting - most new threads are just not getting ANY attention 4. Allow pictures to be upload anywhere in a post, not just at the top 5. Allow for more than one image to used per posted (even if this is an earned right, some posts just need multiple images) 6. Darker Color 7. Couldn't end on a 6 when 7 was right there
