I don't think that have seen a thread that discusses a 'yes or no' question on evolution.
So do you or don't you? Or at least any type of evolution like Theistic Evolution? I understand that it is quite a controversial topic as many people deny it due to religious beliefs that find it to contradict its beliefs.
For me the answer is yes. I was raised that Creationism was the source of everything in existence but I questioned that and did some research and came to the conclusion that evolution is indeed fact.

1 RespuestaWhether you believe in evolution or not is like asking if you believe the earth revolves around the sun or not. It is true ether way and there is substantial evidence and proof to back up evolution.

1 RespuestaFor those of you who say no remember gravity was once a theory but hopefully you all believe that that's fact now if not feel free to float away

4 RespuestasEditado por Teh Panda: 1/23/2013 4:56:14 PMlol dumbuss right side christians saying "make the gov't teach people my personal beliefs" Why the hell are your beliefs superior to someone who believed in Thor, or Zeus (or any greek gods if you don't get the point of this sentence)? Shut up about your 6 day creationism shit (note, this is only referring to YEC's, not all christian because they aren't this dumb), keep it out of education and leave it at church, there are thousands of other religion and stories of origins, yours is as shitty of a theory as the rest if it's only based on faith. I can't believe how easy Christians have it, with a global holiday being celebrated and having pretty much a whole party based on their beliefs, and having most of the media consist of allusions/references to their beliefs. and then they complain when we don't put their beliefs in schools shut the hell up and make your own god damn schools and stop trying to infect the minds of impressionable children around the country. HURR MY RELIGION IS BEST Yes, I do know many Christians are decent humans and don't try to force their beliefs on others, but reevaluate yourself if you do you retards

2 Respuestaslol What is there to "believe" in? It's whether or not you learned it. Believing means that there's a doubt that it's true. /isMuslim

Hehehe, people who don't accept mainstream scientific theory because they don't understand it.
-
1 RespuestaI wouldn't say I do or don't. As a Christian, I could take several different views on this (Young Earth creationism, Old Earth Creationism, Theistic Evolution), but I don't, because in the end it's not really going to matter. Where we came from isn't a big deal to me, it's where we're going.

Of course I do.

5 RespuestasI accept that evolution occurs and that all life on Earth has a common ancestry.

19 RespuestasI refuse to believe that the complexity of living systems is due to chance. So no, i do not believe in the theory of evolution.
-
sure. it makes sense; whereas the alternatives do not.

There are people who say they don't believe in macro evolution because "it's far fetched" or something similar. Really? Your genes control everything about you. Surely thousands upon thousands of changed to these genes over millions of years will cause change?

I believe in evolution.

Of course I accept evolution.

'believe' is perhaps the wrong word. I accept the Theory of Evolution

1 RespuestaAny theory that isn't the theory of creationism is a good theory

Editado por goldhawk: 1/23/2013 1:44:05 PMWith all the data, opinions and thought processes, "logical" or otherwise, that I have been exposed to on this matter I can conclude that Evolution is correct. To qualify that, Darwins notions of evolution were a fantastic base of the development of this theory - but in many ways were flawed. As with all theories, refinement and polishing is an ongoing process and there are still many things to learn. The fossil record is becoming ever more extensive, the biological principals and tests are discovering more of the mechanisms through which this process occurs. It would be a fools gambit to reject this.

1 RespuestaYes. I believe it is a theory.

30 RespuestasMicroevolution? Certainly. Humans have an appendix and it does... nothing. So, why do we have it? Certainly, we've outgrown, or evolved past, its use. That everything started from one-celled organisms, then fish, and so on? No, I do not think so. I find it silly that single-celled organisms suddenly became dinosaurs. Even if not suddenly, I still find it silly. Almost as silly as the thought that Ancient Egyptians used slave labor to move those huge rocks to where the pyramids are and to place them in perfect alignment. We can't even do that today with technology as fast as they did it back then. But, that's not what this is about. So, Macroevolution: No. Microevolution: Yes. I can clearly see Microevolution. I cannot, for the life of me, see Macroevolution. Whether it's Creationism or aliens placing us here, I don't know, but I don't think Macroevolution is the case.
-
I'm too young to fully understand the world, but evolution makes more sense to me then we were just plonked here as we are.
-
Absolutely. Creationism is a copout.

I'm not gonna say that it's 100% fact, but out of all the theories of our creation, it makes the most since. Look at the fiery way our planet was formed, I don't see us just popping up outta nowhere all of a sudden, as is, or being dropped off/created by aliens. Even being Christian, I'm gonna say that evolution makes the most sense. I mean hell, the Bible says we were created from dust, that's a pretty good way to describe evolution to someone thousands of years ago . Like I said though, I don't KNOW how we came to be, I wasn't there after all. So for all I know, we coulda just been "poofed" into existence.
