Anyone who doesn't support these protests should be shot.

Everyone here surprises me in how narrow minded and short sighted you are. We offer our freedoms to be protected by the government, which raises a national army, which provides international interactions, trade, and the like. I honestly doubt a bunch of people on The Flood know how to run a government better than how it is already being run, regardless of what you may say. Next, in this whole "revolutionary" attitude. Time and time again throughout history, revolutions happen and you go right back to square one. You topple the rich and elite? The poor then become the rich and elite. Its a vicious cycle for power. Those who are treated unfairly want to treat others unfairly. Put them in power, your worse off than you started. AKA French revolution. Taxation is a necessity. The government cannot pull money out of its ass and fund all the things a massive government needs to fund. Its simply not possible. Any real smaller state, in a time of Imperialism and expansionism, will never survive unless part of a larger government. Freedom is not given when part of such a government. Its like working for a company - they give you work and pay, but you need to abide by the code of conduct. If your upset about how "freedom" is worded, go write another version yourself and publish it. Look im not all for corruption and having an oligarchy, it just seems that here, alot of people run around screaming "revolution!" and "anon is jesus!" without fully understanding the entire situation.

I'm sure the other person was referring how we're slaves to a monetary system (spoiler: we're not), so I'm offering a counter point. How can I truly be considered free when 35% of the result of my work goes to someone else?
That's wrong, it goes to something else. the money is needed to keep our government running.

Working hard is not supposed to equal high pay or even mediocre pay. You are paid in the market based off your specific set of skills and the supply and demand of those skills in the labor market. If that is disconcerting to you, learn a new set of skills and increase your desirability.

lol because politicians and CEOs are going to listen to a bunch of bored basement dwelling nerds who don't even know what they're protesting for... anonymous...what a joke. thinking they can change the world.
Posted by: Zon The Great
Posted by: Locke357
Posted by: Zon The Great It's such a stupid protest. They're protesting a system that favors the rich? Well boy oh boy, maybe you'd make money if you weren't camping out of Wall Street for a dumb cause.
I understand if you don't agree with the protest, but that statement is just retarded. Most people who work hard their entire lives don't even make a fraction of what the top 1% of the wealthy make in a year.
Did I ever say they'd make what the top 1% makes? Nope. But those top 1% do work hard. It's hard to determine who works "harder," though it's obvious that CEO's should make more than a simple janitor.
Oh yeah, people who just make money off of nothing, IE: wall street, totally deserve their money. The point is they're protesting the vast disparity in wealth, not that those who work hard should get more money than those who don't.

This thread makes Glenn Beck seem intelligent.
Posted by: EternalPenitence Blood on the ground won't work, nor will peace. So what should they do?
Create and provide a better alternative. It's the only way that has EVER succeeded. No amount of protest, (peaceful or otherwise), no amount of revolution (just or unjust), no amount of songs sung or blood spilled make one bit of difference unless and until there is a better alternative. Because until then, all of the "change" are simply slogans and words in the breeze. Make something better, let it stand beside the alternative, allow the world to see that "this actually works" and let people do what they have always done. Act in their own best interests. Until then, it's all just talk and theory. And if you don't have something better? Why are you trying to destroy something that works? It may not work well, but it's better than ANYTHING that's come before. No, really, it is.
