By now, I think everyone is aware that Preta has basically staged a palace coup to position herself as leader of the Awoke people. She has disappeared Moyra Salve (ie kidnapped her) and removed Utrim from the line of succession (by framing him). She lucked out being that her coup occured during a time of so much chaos, which she has masterfully manipulated. Undoubtedly, she is aware that the guardians won't move on her bc she has effectively keeping the Taking from overrunning the Dream City and stealing Moyra's pet Riften. I used to think that Preta's success was dependent on hapinstance, but I'm starting to think this was much more strategic timing. While visiting the Dream City, I realized the Hives are fighting the Taking and Scones when we aren't around. Can't help but thinking Preta may have cut a deal w Salvathune's daughter on the moon to send Hives to aid Preta in her coup. Can't imagine what the Hives are getting in return, but it wouldn't surprise me if Preta hasn't agreed to hand over Moyra's pet. If the Hives manage to put a worm in Riften, it's game over. Its also possible that the Hives secretly put a worm in Preta to ensure they can control her. I wouldn't be surprised if she wears that eye patch to hide the worm and stop it from crawling out. I'm sure Salvathune and her daughter would love nothing more than getting their hands on the Dream City and exploiting it's power. Considering Preta's history of duplicity, we may be running out of time to bring her to justice. However, we definitely have to be careful, as one wrong move would likely mean Preta assassinating Moyra and formally declaring herself Queen of the Awoke people. This is something we must stop at all costs. If Preta becomes queen and accesses the Awoke Queen power, and then officially joins with the Hives, it would be more dangerous than the threat posed by the Witness, Dominick Gaul, and Onyx combined.
