I'm glad you enjoyed the Season of Renegades. That being said, I don't think Renegades ever had a chance to build back player trust. An IP ripping off another IP, and not in an inspirational way, almost like a copy paste, was not gonna work. At least that's my opinion.

The copium being inhaled by some of these replies where they argue over "rip off" rather than trying to argue that the expansion isn't a creatively bankrupt piece of -blam!- is so funny... well it would be funny if it wasn't so sad that there is people that will defend this slop and probably aren't even getting paid to do it lmao.

  • I only wish them the best. That being said I stand my ground and agree that it was not creative at all and was just them using Star Wars as a crutch to make content.

  • It wasn't a rip off they worked with Lucas Arts to make this and while heavily inspired had its own beat and did a great job with keeping the story going of the nine. He is right thay renegades was good but we hit a cliff with no transparency.

  • Red War was more inspired by Star Wars than Renegades, imo. Forsaken was as well. Renegades is just Star Wars with a coat of Destiny 2 paint. Lucas Arts helping Bungie is a non-starter here. Space fortress that has a laser to wipe something out just like the Death Star, Bael acting like Kylo Ren, Drifter getting trapped in carbonite-esque stasis, big cabal dude that looks just like Vader, set pieces with direct nods to Star Wars locations. Not to forget all the weapons sounding like blasters, and a freakin' light-saber for crying out loud. That is not inspiration, that's a direct rip from Star Wars.

  • It would be a rip off if bungie just lifted them like they normally do. Working with the company that makes these things isnt ripping off. There's a big difference.

  • I guess the paint analogy didn't make sense or something, so let me say it in a different way. Renegades is akin to copying someone's homework but putting your spin on it in hopes that the teacher doesn't notice. That's still ripping off something that was already done. If you can't see that, then there is no reason to continue this conversation.

  • You're confusing what a ripoff is like really badly a ripoff is like what happened with marathon they stole the work of an artist and claimed it as their own. A homage look it up is paying a great respect to something, which star wars has always been something they credited as inspiration, so they worked with the company that produced and wrote star wars to make a tribute and crossover with. There was no ripping off anything, they had permission and help from the parent company. You're very confused.

  • Not confused. I just know the difference between ripping something off and being inspired by something when creating your own thing. You seem to be confusing what I said with what you know as plagiarism. Just because you get permission from the person to copy their homework doesn't change anything about it being a rip off. Calling it a crossover is also an admittance that it is more of a direct rip from something rather than "heavily inspired" as you previously stated. If anything Space balls is more of an homage than Renegades ever hopes to be and that was a satirical rip off of Star Wars. Case in point, this will get vaulted and forgotten about while Space Balls will continue to stand the test of time. May the Schwartz be with you.

You can just end the conversation without being disrespectful.
