Interact with your menus, it's been that way for years.

I get that it's to combat AFK leeching, but they really should throw a pop-up onto the screen you can click on when you're risking being kicked. I'm pretty sure other games count being in menues as being AFK, so it's not gonna be how many people would think to avoid it.
