  • Needed? No. But do we want it? Yes.

  • We? Who is we? The tiny small population on Linux users that Bungie would have to go through multiple configurations just to have it work? Ya. No it's not needed.

  • Linux user. I make commercial software for Linux. I don't want Linux supported for Destiny. Exactly what would happen is you'd see a massive spike in cheating and support would be removed.

If cheaters are already cheating on Windows, why would they want to move for Linux if they are already able to cheat on Windows? Also, a new platform being supported with more players will come more cheaters. (I.e. If you add Nintendo Switch as a platform, you will see more Xim players). I think adding Linux will not worsen the cheating problem, a fix would be how Bungie treats the client in general.

  • Run game via proton on windows to make it even easier. Apex Legends was top example of this approach. Nearly all the people cheating in Apex via the "Linux" EAC were running it on Windows. EAC on Linux is implemented as a shared objected as is BattlEye, entirely userspace. If you do not know Linux will worsen the cheating issue then you simply do not understand Linux enough to comment. You are trying to argue using feelings and rhetoric, I am speaking from experience and knowledge. You are so ignorant you don't even realize who you are arguing with. I'm bored of this discussion. Again, I like your support of Linux but it is not there yet. x86 needs to adopt new security features, both pre-exiting ones and new ones specific to the anti-cheat topic. This is unfortunately at least 5 years off. Have a nice Christmas.
