And it's not looking good at all for Bungo. Nearly everywhere I go the majority of the sentiment surrounding Marathon is negative.
The most 'average' positive response I see about this game is "it looks like it'll be okay, just not my kind of game" so that leads me to wonder who exactly this game is made for?
What is supposed to make this game standout against all the other PVP games out there? Because there nothing that has been revealed that'll make it stand out in any meaningful way.
The fact they made it a extraction shooter is really just the most dumbfounding thing they could have done. That's probably the largest complaint I've seen and it hard to dispute, extraction shooters are already a dying genre and there ones that are left are hard to beat.
It's my turn for my obligatory Marathon post
16 RespuestasThe Marathon Discord has a range of opinions in the feedback section, but most people there are interested enough in what they’ve seen so far (it would be an odd place to go if they weren’t). How successful the game ends up being is another question, but there’s definitely a potential audience for it.

4 RespuestasEditado por Salty-47: 4/16/2025 7:54:50 AMThe main thing I've seen is that it's a majority of destiny players that have an issue with it, and they are using dumb reasons for their issues. One of the main ones I've seen is that it isn't pandering to them, so that's the whole issue. A lot of the hate for the game is definitely being directed from destiny players, and if the forums are any indication, a lot of the people complaining about it are the same ones that complain constantly about destiny but still play it daily. Based on Marathon's discord and going through a lot of the comments about the game, there definitely is a decent amount of people either already interested or plan on looking and waiting for more to shown about it before deciding if they want to play it or not. One of the other main complaints I've seen about the game is the art style they went with. In a video I watched, the person even stated the obvious that art is subjective, so naturally, not everyone is going to like it. Instantly hating on a game just because it doesn't use the art style that someone else likes doesn't really make much sense to me. I'd rather see how it plays and how they plan to do things in the game. The style of the game is secondary to me personally. I've also noticed that a lot of people are upset that bungie clarified that the game isn't for everyone. There's nothing wrong with a game going after a specific audience. I'd rather games always do that instead of doing what some games do where they try to pander to everyone and end up pleasing no one. I'll definitely be waiting until either playing beta for the game or until they release more about it before I decide if it's a game I want or not. I'd rather have an informed opinion on it instead of doing what some of these people are doing and just jumping on the bungie hate bandwagon. Edit: I do agree that they could have gone a different route instead of going with an extraction shooter. However, if they had gone with a more pve way for it and them thrown a pvp mode into it, then it would have just ended essentially just being destiny with a different name.
