Contest dungeons are 100% the way to go.
Just did the first two encounters and it actually felt like a raid at times with how chaotic it was.
You didn’t even attempt it yet you’re crying about it?
Yet more proof that all you kids do on these forums is cry about things, regardless if you know anything about it or not.

Here's the fact of the matter. There are a lot of people that would have gotten excited for the dungeon drop and have played it by now, except that many of them, myself included, haven't been able to put a team together since it was in contest mode for most of the day today. The difficulty isn't the problem, it's that having a team of high tier end game level ready players at the go is a non starter for most people, and trying to find those players on lfg is like trying to win the lottery. Contest would've been fine, if it were optional, but because it wasn't, a lot of people who were otherwise excited for the launch have lost interest.

Want to know another fact? A lot of people’s, myself included, also get excited when a new dungeon drops that is actually challenging. Why do you negate everyone else who doesn’t hold your view on the game? No one cried and badmouthed you when dungeons dropped on easy mode at launch but now you’re all upset that it drops on hard mode on launch? Very hypocritical of you.

You're being disingenuous I am not trying to negate you, nor do I have any problem with difficulty. I like challenge, quite enjoy it in fact, I even enjoy contest. But I don't think that having contest drop on launch for dungeons and having it not be optional is a good decision for the community long term. You can keep giving me all this undeserved aggression and making the pro-contest mode argument look out to be elitists or you could take the out I'm giving you by trying to be polite and actually listen to what I have to say without getting so reactionary about it.

If you never intended to be hostile then I apologize for coming off like that, I’m just used to how most of this forums is always unfairly toxic and negative no matter what state the game is in. That being said, I believe what they did here is the best of both worlds as most casual players wouldn’t even attempt the raid until right now when they get home from work or school. Most of the hardcore players who enjoy contest most likely were playing from launch so they enjoy their harder content and now the rest of the people can enjoy the easier version. It’s impossible to release both versions at once because people would beat the normal version in an hour and spoil the mechanics for the contest mode people. No matter what they do, there will be people upset but this is the best thing they could’ve done and I hope they continue this approach with every dungeon. Honestly, they should do the same with raids where they should just release the normal version after worlds first is complete and leave contest up for people who want a guaranteed exotic in the first two days. So I do feel for people like you who weren’t able to play normal at launch but we all knew this wouldn’t take multiples days to complete so no reason you can’t go into it blind now.
