Osteo was a key exotic of witch queen and necrotic make it so much better. As well as throb and all Glaives bow
Add Clear is not the conversation we're having today. Osteo and Necrotic was an add clear build, not a DPS build.

You don't know what dps means huh? You want to say boss fight
You don't know what dps means huh? You want to say boss fight
Why would you put together a build dedicated to doing as much damage over time as possible if it weren't for a boss fight? Did a red bar dreg in the cosmodrome insult your mother?

No the discussion is classes getting exotic specific armour and weapons. Something warlock has more than any class - boots of the assembler and rose being another one. Hunter gets one and people lose their minds. Warlocks have got star eater and it’s helped their dps and usage verses bosses.

There will always be one optimal high dps build. The dps class building solely into dps makes sense. Don’t worry yourself.
There will always be one optimal high dps build. The dps class building solely into dps makes sense. Don’t worry yourself.
No, there used to be several optimal DPS builds. Now there is one. That's a problem.

Your opinion is subjective and by no means fact. Celestial or some form of hunter super has been optimal for a long time.
Your opinion is subjective and by no means fact. Celestial or some form of hunter super has been optimal for a long time.
Optimal is not the same as "standing head and shoulders above everyone else". There used to be a delta between viable builds that put them within an acceptable range of each other so that any class could do anything. But hey, go ahead and duo the witness encounter in Salvation's Edge with two warlocks. I'll wait. People doing it with still hunt hunters a lot.

I don’t think subclass supers should be balanced on whether they can duo the hardest raid in the game.
I don’t think subclass supers should be balanced on whether they can duo the hardest raid in the game.
Locking that to a single playable class guarantees that at some point, you'll have to switch to a hunter or quit playing. Having a class that out of balance is going to cannibalize the other two. There simply won't be a point to run them if they have a ceiling far lower than the clearly superior one.

And you’re basing this on a two man of the hardest 6 man activity. Hmmm, you should be a game designer.
And you’re basing this on a two man of the hardest 6 man activity. Hmmm, you should be a game designer.
And the fact that there are as many hunters as there are warlocks and Titans combined and it's because their kit is hilariously powerful, dead simple to use, and can do sh*t like kill raid bosses with only two players when other classes can't. This has happened before. Orpheus Rig hunter + 5 golden gun hunters could one phase all raid bosses that existed before Orpheus Rig was nerfed to give fewer orbs. And then golden gun could be cycled infinitely on any boss with a crit spot. And now hunters can duo raid bosses that other classes can't. With a history like that, pretty easy to see why there are so many of them.

Hunter usage has always been around 40-50% since the start of destiny. Titans only a month ago were destroying bosses with one two punch and can still do it. Warlocks have been the absolute must for all dps encounters, so much so they complained about having to run Well all the time. Hunters are having their time in the sun. There are plenty of great dps options outside what you mentioned that you’ll be able to complete all content in the game apart from a duo’ing the hardest boss in the game (hardly grounds for an intelligent argument).

That's why they're the most popular class, because they're always good.
