True. But thinking back to our first encounter with him in D1 as a snot-nosed malicious "advisor" to his sister, he is just about the last character I expected to have any major arc, especially of the heroic variety. I wonder why they did it. Like, did the voice actor go to the right parties and schmooze well? Because it's kind of goofy, to be honest. As for them being different people, I don't really buy it. Different memories, sure. But same "operating system."

  • Nah, Crow was always meant to be an important. Uldren seemed to be made last minute. The very first D1 trailer actually had us meeting Crow in the cosmodrome when we got brought back. He was meant to be our guide like Shawn Han is now for new lights.

Crow was meant to be our guide in the beginning, like Shawn Han. In the first D1 gameplay reveal, you see Crow in the same spot where Shawn Han is now. The Stranger was Osiris’ assistant

  • I mean how our ghost is guiding us and explaining things originally Crow was going to do that and where did you find out that Stranger was Osiris assistant that sounds like it would have been cool

  • And I getcha. It was all part of the leaks that came out back then, everything from insiders, data mining and a copy of the contract being leaked. Like the Ulan-Tan and Symmetry stuff. That was the basis for the OG storyline. Darkness was just corrupted Light, the Big Bad a rouge Lightbearer feeding off civilizations and the Vanguard corrupt. They knew to stop the Darkness would mean to sacrifice the Light. All that power and immortality. Thats why it was meant to end after ten years. We’d spend all that time learning the truth while wiping out all our enemies and end it with giving up all the power to stop anyone else from abusing it.

  • Yeah wasn’t the big reveal going to be that the traveler was evil and caused the Collapse

  • That’s how it was summed up but it was being corrupted and manipulated, so only sorta. It caused it the same way this version did, not warning us. At least the OG had a decent reason. This one doesn’t, just choose not to.

Do you mean a D2 trailer, not D1? In D1, he was Prince Uldren of the Reef, and was catty toward guardians. He also wasn't called Crow then, though he did lead "the Crows." This is the very first appearance of Uldren in the game, starting about 1:15 in: https://youtu.be/3JkxLdZ9dN0?si=odmQgMvD3mUrcL9z&t=82 Maybe there was a trailer that presented him in a different way, I can see why they'd want to use an Awoken character in initial marketing, but when I was playing the D1 campaign, I saw him as a character I did not respect, and who was a borderline villain.

  • I found it. https://youtu.be/gIp7vZuYzoA?si=45_HRpG1M6SP80lo Man, the Warlock super was just a grenade in this phase lol Jump to 11:29 for Uldren/Crow but check the rest of it out for giggles.

  • I mean the early D1 promo trailers. Not the game. They rebooted it six months before release, so the campaign we got was a cobbled together mess. I’ll try finding it when I get home
