The best way to describe difficulty in this game is like two dudes taking turns whipping each other as hard as they can. Sometimes you whip the enemies and other times it’s reverse. We need a middle ground difficulty to make the game less mindlessly but not sweaty. I want to have fun not fall asleep or be hyper alert. This game is like halo 2 on easy and legendary, just depends what you’re doing. For anyone that says skill issue: overcoming bad game design doesn’t make you better than everyone else but rather makes you fight with others by keeping the game badly designed. Don’t be that way we all deserve a good game for a moneys worth

1 RespuestaDifficulty where, patrols? There are all your tiers of difficulty in NFs, you want a medium difficulty raid? Gambit? I just don’t see what you mean. Everything is easy, except master raids/dungeons and GMs. You want middle ground for everything?
-
It’s the same thing with asking for MM in modes that don’t have it, it should just be an optional selection. You want to get murdered by threshers every single second while patrolling Neomuna? Then select the difficult option. You want to breeze through Neomuna without being subjected to god like wyvern enemies? Then select the easy option. You want a middle ground? Then select the middle ground option. I seriously don’t understand what the big issue is with providing OPTIONAL settings that caters to EVERYONE.

It's honestly unfortunate at this point. The writing was on the wall way back when these changes were announced as to how this would be a bad direction for the game to move in, and yet here we are almost nine months later and Bungie just doesn't care, period, about how this decision has ruined the game for a large number of players. These topics keep popping up on almost a weekly basis here and on the subreddit, and yet the silence from Bungie on this topic is just deafening. I honestly feel this event has shown the ugly side of these changes to an even higher degree. Sure, they gave matchmaking for a legend activity, but it's not even a "fun" level of challenge anymore, the EDZ lost sector is a perfect example of how poorly this difficulty adjustment was executed. You can pop out of cover for a second with T10 Resil & 3x Solar Resist and still be completely deleted by the Colossus miniguns before you even have a chance to get back into cover. I even watched both of the random matchmade teammates I had get killed IN MY WELL. This is the kind of stuff I would expect in a GM, not a mid-game seasonal event. And honestly, these frustrations have stretched to all aspects of the game. Master raids? I do the encounter challenge once and never touch it again. Master dungeons? Don't even care about them anymore. Neomuna? I only ever go there for seasonal challenges and then once done, I'm out, it's just not worth it. Outleveling was never the problem, it was a stretch goal for a number of players that lacked the capabilities to survive in Master+ content to give them a way in. "Difficulty" as Bungie has added to this game was turning everything into a tedious slog, instead of letting players let loose and have fun. That's why the "Craftening" was such a great thing to happen to the game, it was a chance to just blow through these limitations and get back to the sense of power lost in Lightfall. I was hopeful that Bungie would see the falloff in players and quickly associate the difficulty adjustments with it back in Season 20 and full revert by now, but that was not the case. Deep was my least played season in D2 since Curse of Osiris, and this season is already reaching the drop point for me since the endgame has lost the "fun" factor. I won't hold my breath for this going away anytime soon, but this definitely has me questioning my decision to continue supporting the game after TFS campaign is done.

Editado por Morakx: 10/20/2023 11:24:01 AMThe game is on life support. They have been catering their "bring challenge back to destiny" agenda to the tiny hardcore community that will stick around even when the game is dead because those clowns will keep spending money on their cash cow game. The game has VERY OBVIOUSLY reached the very end of its life span. They made that clear as ice. It's written off already. That will result in losing A LOT of casuals within the foreseable future. They know that. Thats why they went the "please our hopeless addicts with mind numbing dull "challenge"" route. Thats funny enough tho since this game is far from difficult. Its just time consuming. Everything can be done easily if you just waste enough time on builds and playing like a little weiner, more careful than you should. Its just terrible game design designed to keep addicts around. Simple as that.

2 RespuestasThey actively destroyed that when they made the difficulty changes with Lightfall. Legend difficulty used to be what you described. Hard enough you could be challenged, but not crazy so you could try out new things. Normal and Heroic were both easy mode, Master and GM were both harder. Bungie nuked the middle difficulties when they made changes.

2 RespuestasThere are only 2 difficulties: 1) easy as ba[[s 2) hard as -blam!-

7 RespuestasEditado por Roach: 10/21/2023 3:57:17 AMThere was nothing wrong with the difficulty prior to the streamers whining about how easy the game was and how it needed to be harder, how there weren't enough enemies. People could choose their level and it scaled pretty easy for New Lights to Grandmaster for Veterans. Now it's a mess. And power level means very little because of set power levels and burns. What is the point of hitting max light, I have three characters at 1810, if it doesn't mean anything ??, I am at 1831 with the artifact yet I am limited in things like GM's to maintain an air of difficulty ?? .. Really ??, what is the point of hitting high power levels if they cant be used. And the burns in things like Nightfall and the Legendary Lost Sectors are ridiculous, to say nothing of one stomp killing me. When I am running 100 Resilience and still getting insta killed by arc wizards, who take about four or five mags on an Auto to take down, it's just getting stupid. The Revenant Knights at the Boss in this weeks Nightfall hit harder than the actual Boss. That can't be right. Why on earth do we need burns anyway ?? .. Just set the enemies at the power level you want and let us crack on. It must be a nightmare for new players. Look at the Battleground Nightfall's with multiple Champions in the first phase. Before they had an easy route into Nightfalls but now it's just hard, really hard and yeah, not doing that. Want to run a 1770 Nightfall ??, well it isn't. Your power is set at 1765 and the enemies are much higher. For what ?? .. because some no lifer gets upset that people play an easy version they probably never even touch. No wonder New Lights bimble around in a daze. And the other thing that needs a bit of adjustment is this trend of everything shooting you all at once. The amount of activities that have you mobbed constantly is just stupid. You can actually see the game struggling with it in places as enemy spawns on enemy, spawns on enemy resulting in this massive dogpile. Being surrounded constantly is just tedious. Instead of challenging ways to defeat challenging enemies we just get a horde mode with bullet sponges. It' just getting dull. Now I'm sure all the "Wah, but I find it easy, wah" merchants will rock up but honestly does anyone actually think that the balance between our power, enemy power and the endless hordes in most modes is balanced because most of the time playing this game I do not feel powerful.

5 RespuestasI just want to know why you thinking of men whooping each other?
-
1 RespuestaIt’s annoying and tedious…. Putting XXX champions around doesn’t make things difficult it makes them boring… they should make difficulty like in D1 difficult and fun
-
3 RespuestasI love that my hand cannon with minor spec takes 3-4 headshots to kill red bars in patrol zones.
-
counterpoint, not being good at a game doesn't mean it's designed badly. you literally said when the difficulty is high you have to be hyper-vigilant, that's it. you didn't list any broken things... sounds like it's well designed if the only trick is maintaining good situational awareness, right?
-
2 RespuestasSo what you’re saying is you want to be in the middle of the two guys whipping eachother? Sounds kinda sweaty… and hot

Editado por TheShadow: 10/20/2023 1:35:46 PM
. We need a middle ground difficulty to make the game less mindlessly but not sweaty.
This business refuses to look for a middle ground, and that is why things are the way they are and will stay the way they are. I don't mind any game being a grind, challenge, or whatever is said to make things difficult. What I do mind is how boring a lot of games are because of how some businesses like to overcontrol how players play their game, the lack of incentive, the lack of creativity, the lack of quality work, and how games have become mostly about buying from a shop so the kids can play dress up instead of designing a decent game. Most "live service games" are garbage, and that's because most businesses don't care about quality work these days. It's all about showing numbers, and how can we milk the players.

13 RespuestasAs has been said many, many times before (by me and others), a simple solution would be to have the option to select how one wants to play… Easy / Normal / Hard / Hardest It’s not rocket science! 🙄 🫡

Bullet sponges are fun, my guy. 🧽
-
I'm not against the game being hard b u t enemies respawning as fast as you can kill them is just exhausting to me.

The difficulty of even Hero level nightfall.. has gone way up.. I am revving so many fellow guardians. The legend haunted sectors are ridiculous level difficulty.. suddenly. .. its too many accumulated errors -
2 RespuestasSo you mad because the harder version of a mode is difficult Ok?

4 RespuestasThey really went out of there way to buff ads and debuff guardians . They wanted increased difficulty across the board including in pvp via there so called new and improved match making . Its turned into a circus . The bs my team and I went through over a few of bungies GM's this season was just not fun to play. Sure we got gilded for the 4th time but none of that matters anyway if your not having fun playing the game. To many respawning ads , guardians are to weak ,ads to strong . Was it challenging ...no. it was unbalanced like there pvp match making is.

1 RespuestaI love a challenging game when it's done properly. I've played all the "well-known for their difficulty" games like anything from FromSoft, Nioh, Sifu, and I'm not afraid to crank "regular" games up to max difficulty, like CoD games on Realism etc.. because those games don't require many hours of grinding to be considered "challenging but fair". You have to learn those games, and if you screw up, it's usually your error. In Destiny it's more like "let's just throw infinite Screebs at them, nerf all their weapons, force them into X build, and give the bosses oversized health pools to force them into a battle of attrition. Then do it until you get lucky enough to get the exotic. It might be 1 time, it might be 50." I'm sure it's what Bungie wants, but the difficulty seems fake. I've outgrown it.
-
It’s exactly what they want. They’ve complained about making content engaging for us when we are strong. They flat out admitted they didn’t want to put in the effort to design content to challenge us and instead would prefer us to be weaker. So we get niche powerful builds instead of general strength. Enemies get a flat boost all around and bosses become spongier. They spent years trying to water us down instead of making a proper game.

2 RespuestasI've been playing a lot of Destiny 1 Vanguard Legacy strikes. These scale in difficulty to your level, which means you can use all of that great VoG gear you collected in D1 Y1. Being able to use my Hezen Lord Warlock armor and legendary guns again is great. It's not a cake walk, but what's gone is the mobbing of impossible enemies and cage fights without a single place to catch a breath. Just being able to use my super great D1Y1 legendary VoG guns and gear make it so worth doing. And, it's amazing how many others still play the same thing.
-
3 RespuestasBungie has never been able to get power right nor will they ever. Only real power comes from weapons and abilities.
-
3 Respuestasikr. its literally either 1600 light, or your like 15 levels under. Its wild, there should be like hero raids not just master or normal.
-
light levels streamline design.. they wont change that fundamentally cus its way to much work for them.. the best you will get is an adjustment

2 Respuestas
This game is like halo 2 on easy and legendary, just depends what you’re doing.
You nailed it. It’s either so easy I can play it with my eyes closed or so hard that I don’t want to do it. I’m working my way through every halo game on LASO and it’s more enjoyable than the hard difficulty in this game lol.
