I've been playing D2 for just a few years now, I wasn't around for D1 or early D2. I've mostly enjoyed the game up until this Season/Expansion. I mostly play solo PVE with some Gambit here and there. And I was just getting into doing Legendary Lost Sectors at the end of last Season...completed my first as part of my pursuit of the "Splintered" Title...yeah..it's old...I know. I got my teen kids interested in D2 recently, first one, then later on, the other.
I bought all the old DLCs for myself and also for both of the kids. Then also bought WQ for both myself and then for both of them. We were starting to play the old stuff and WQ together, enjoying ourselves. But not any more, not since the difficulty changes.
My one kid ("J") has totally given up on D2 and mostly plays CoD, Fallout NLV and 76 along with a few other games. He is what I would consider a "gamer" although not a streamer/no-lifer.
My other kid, ("V") is more like me...casual player but unlike me, likes some Crucible along with PVE and Gambit...so a more rounded player than I am. We did an Empire Hunt yesterday on Hero and it wasn't fun in the least. Fortunately, thanks to another much better player that joined us, we were able to complete it, otherwise we'd likely have abandoned it.
Once we finished it. "V" said, "Dad, can we do that again but on this time on 'easy' ?" To which I replied, "That WAS 'easy' ". "V" was stunned and said that it would now be impossible to complete the quests being pursued. "V" was really heartbroken about it. I too find it highly unlikely I will get the Title I was pursuing since last last Season.
It's sad. We just started playing D2 together last Season and I used to like getting them both into a Fireteam and trying stuff. But, this is D2 now...my teens do not find it enjoyable and "J" has moved on to more fun games.
This is what Bungie has done. They have completely lost one player and most likely will lose at least one more "V"...maybe two...me. I MAY stick around a bit but likely will be playing much, much less and I certainly will not be buying any more DLCs or Seasons. We also likely won't be around for the Final Shape, nor for whatever it is that Sony/Bungie are cooking up. After what Bungie has done, why would we?
That's just the way it is. Again, sad.

2 RespuestasSorry to see you and your family go. Any player driven away from their favourite game is a failure by the company and a real shame. Ignore the no brains and their (in their tiny little minds) attempts at clever comments.

Bungie can’t stop screaming about the numbers from launch. Just like vanilla D2. But casual gamers moved on and the dedicated players that were supposed to carry the game did as well because the game wasn’t fun. Almost like Sony is repeating the same process and mistakes Activision did.

2 Respuestas
"Dad, can we do that again but on this time on 'easy' ?" To which I replied, "That WAS 'easy' ".
So instead of letting him feel defeated - why wouldn't you instead say: Let's try and figure out how to get better together. You could 1) Research builds 2) Ensure you have appropriate resilience levels. 3) Teach him to read about burns/surges and ensure his chest has appropriate chest mods 4) teach him how to build craft for surges with CWL mods. Assuming then maybe you have done all 4 of the above - lastly, and most importantly, 5) maybe run through the normal version of empire hunts at Variks to get comfortable with the mission before trying one with modifiers if Hero is too difficult? If you don't enjoy the game play, by all means quit - this game isn't for a lot of people. But, why are you complaining about the game's difficulty when you're not bothering to learn how to complete missions on the easiest level first?

well is a good thing , now the kids know that the world is not tutorial mode

2 RespuestasI just don’t understand. I don’t find these things hard in the least. Maybe your mindset should be to stay safe BEFORE killing enemies. If you do this, things will become easier I promise. Look for cover!

17 RespuestasEditado por The Hermit IX: 4/9/2023 4:08:48 PMThey’re posting record numbers with players active in D2. While your opinion is “it’s too hard or difficult”, there’s many that think it’s ok and others that don’t think it’s hard enough. They can’t please everyone and have to do what’s in the best interest of the overall health of the game. I have to say you have a double primary up and that’s the beginning of your problems with struggling. Research builds, load outs and mods and you’ll find the experience won’t be as sweaty.

4 RespuestasDo yourself a huge favor and close your wallet to this business, because if you don't, how things are now are just only going to get worse, and you'll find yourself regretting you didn't pay attention to the red flags as you are now that will save you the massive headache.

I went back to D1. Two nightfalls in a row ruined. That was the straw.

I'm recovering from Open Heart Surgery. Playing Lightfall with this difficulty spike has been tough on me. Half the time I get motion sickness from trying to play. I would have played IB more if not for how sick I've felt. My stomach can't keep much down. I just want the Strand Sidearm but everything on the new Patrol Zone just feels so much more tedious than it needs to be. Even if I was in good health this difficulty spike is the dumbest thing Bungie has ever done.

1 RespuestaYou can copy my mod setup at anytime on all three characters. If you don’t have the exotic then replace it with one that benefits your current subclass. I recommend a way to get you back in the fight if injured on said subclasses. Examples: invisibility, devour, overshields, restoration, High resilience stat, woven mail for protection or healing grenades. Use one better already or a recuperation mod on your legs. I hope these tips helps you improve.👍🏽

1 RespuestaFirst person I think I’ve ever seen call Fallout New Vegas “Fallout New Las Vegas” (assuming that’s what FNLV means). Has a better ring to it imo.

I've seen a post just like this, but in reverse. The post talked about how 2 kids enjoyed the new difficulty and couldn't wait to play some more. Is there a place to copy stock posts or something? Lol If this is real, it sucks they aren't enjoying it cause if the changes. Maybe have them try it again using things in the game to make it easier: mods, surges, etc, which helps a lot. If they don't enjoy it then, then play something else they do enjoy cause that's what gaming is about.

Get out while you can, the game is just the same content over and over with reskinned weapons. Bungie are moving onto their next project so wont put out content on the level of zero hour, whisper or dead mans tale. Instead we get crappy Avalon mission. Honestly dude, play something else more fun with your sons

32 RespuestasI see you are using double primary and a machine gun, perhaps that is a reason you are struggling!

2 RespuestasOh no! What am I ever going to do????

8 RespuestasThe game has been in a downward spiral for years now. The company is to blame for them not putting enough developers working on the game to support this release cycle they are selling. LF is on sale for $33.49 and I'm not sure it's worth it.

There is no other game right now that plays like destiny though lol

22 RespuestasI recommend FFXIV. Free up to Heavenward. And they have a promotion right now for Stormblood. Free until May 8th. Insane amount of content FOR FREEEEEEEE!

1 RespuestaSo long. Will always remember that one forum thread we were in together. #memories

I also lost my partner to the constant bugs and difficulty changes. It's sad. I may have lost a long term player that does most content with me as well. Very capable raider and conquerer. The changes made their main builds less technical and fun for them. This will pull me away from the game as well, as I'll have less friends to play with. Already 2 games down on my stream list. This might be for the best.

2 RespuestasNot every developer desires to make a super easy game that anyone can dominate. Some developers desire to make a game that requires skill development & investment into the games systems. Not every gamer enjoys a game that they have to invest into & develop skill in the game. They just want to effortlessly play games. It's the the fault of Destiny or the player. It's the player desiring something out of the game that doesn't align with what the developer's want to make. You're not going to get the world to change the fundamentals of Basketball because you or your kids find 3-pointers "too hard." The world doesn't revolve around you, sir.

7 RespuestasWait, you're quitting, really? But why??

There isn't a lot of content for casual players and that is sad. But as unfortunate as it may be that is the reality of this game.
