If Bungie thought nerfs were going to sell lightfall they have another thing coming

The nerfs are too sweeping the changes are only for Bungie’s benefit. None of the nerfs in pve are justified and or wanted. There has been ZERO in any of the information that could possibly sway anyone whose divested not preordered, cancelled or just customers waiting to see. Heist battlegrounds are not new strikes and all this year 5 bs we already played the death out of will not move the needle on people being sick of the repetition. The rat wheel is in its last leg just like Bungie and this mediocre game. Strand having a direct copy super is an exact representation of why lightfall will be a flop.

  • I must admit, Nerfs have me fatigued. I am looking forward to Lightfall even less than before thanks to this latest twab. I am a solo good player these days- that means generally- by the time I get 'X' Bungie has generally already nerfd it. This has a cascading effect throughout the year. If 'X' is delivered HOT said content released around it compensates... by the time I get to the content it's hard. I don't have damn gjally! It's been a year, can Xur sell it yet? Ever see Destiny on tv? Gjally is a permeant main stay insta fire and forget it add clear. I do not experience power creep the way someone who is season pass level 500+ may. Tl: more nerfs yay.

The rat wheel is in its last leg just like Bungie and this mediocre game. Strand having a direct copy super is an exact representation of why lightfall will be a flop.
Yup Bungie's greatest failing is Difficulty Balancing and to a greater extent, Difficulty SCALING. If they get this issue effectively solved it would instantly make Destiny 2 like 400% a better game. I think Spaghetti Code is probably one of the reasons its gotten so bad, but there is more to it than just that. Single player mission difficulty is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Sometimes its super easy, sometimes super hard, sometimes impossible without using specific builds, weapons, Classes, Subclasses even! While I LOVE build crafting in general. Game balancing in a Live Service Game tends to ruin Build Crafting a lot. Whatever we change to try and achieve the God-Like power we want, some balancing Dev will deliberately ruin if too many players start doing it. I also believe and regularly see evidence of the Game itself constantly altering sandbox dynamics to insure our typical performance remains unchanged no matter what alterations we attempt to improve our performance. They call that game-balancing but it is NOT. What it really is, and all it really achieves is PROGRESS-NERFING. Before a bunch of people say things like Destiny 2 is soo easy, or soo hard etc. Please realize that so many factors effect how EASY OR HARD the game feels, especially in single player activities, that very few, if indeed ANY of us on this forum are comparing 'apples to apples'. In other words, WE ARE NOT HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE. Some dumb difficulty issues: Heroic Nughtfalls are in fact way easier in most respects, then NORMAL STRIKES. The only thing 'Harder' is dealing with champions and the final Boss is more Bullet Spongey. Why? Because adding enough mobs for us to kill would allow most matchmade teams to easily exceed 100k and get the pinnacle drop. ALL OF THAT IS SOO DUMB. Bungie's concept of 'Hard' is fundamentally flawed: Death is irrelevant. This changes a lot about the game nature, and balancing nature, but Bungie is dropping the ball by seeing this as a problem instead of an opportunity. For example... Immortal Guardians IRL If we had this ability irl, we could do reality bending awesome things with it. We should be able to die, on purpose, ingame as part of all sorts of tactical tricks: • Throwing our Ghost across a large chasm, eating a plasma grenade, and being rezzed by Ghost on the other side. • Cloaking the Ghost, tossing it behind an enemy, eat plazma, rez, stealth kill • Hiding 'inside' Ghost between death and Rez • Sticking a 'Hidden' ghost to a roaming mob to scout an area. (Ghost could be invis or adaptively camouflaged - Don't say they can't do that because I could do that IRL right now with a ghost size/shape item for a few hundred bucks worth of off the shelf tech.) Instead of doing kool things like that, Bungie is still stuck in the dark ages trying to use death/respawn as punishment or a limitation tool. Die in some cases and you get kicked to orbit. As in ALL video games, the natural power if the player is that we are truly immortal as far as the game is concerned. Bungie was clever enough to build the truth of that into the games actual lore. They should take the next step in that journey and further transform death/rebirth in the game. What this could look like: Guardians stop dying AT ALL. This could happen to all of us all at once, or it could be something welearn after dying 1 million times (or 100k - whatever). Moving forward, what used to kill us will instead make us transition to something like the 'Odin Sleep' in Marvel. We would gain an impenetrable over shield, and adopt a class specific dormant 'recovery state' for a period of time (maybe even a variable amount of time based on how 'dumb' or 'valiant' we were being when we died). Warlocks would float like a hive witch/wizard, Titans could adopt a heroic "You Shall Not Pass" pose, Hunters could grapple hang from a wall or ceiling. All would take on a sparkly translucent appearance like they were in a star trek transporter. The thing we would lose from being forced into this state would be TIME. We would not be able to fight, or help our fireteam. This recovery state could last 30 seconds - 2 min. In pvp all recovering players might become visible through the walls while suspended that way. It would be kind of like a Hockey penalty box. Maybe after 'waking' in pve we could have a slightly improved overshield for whatever duration, but while it was active all weapons would fire slower. Maybe waking would summon a 'Darkness' assassin that would pursue you specifically, and present a more individually interesting fight when they arrived. Kinda like Big Sisters in BioShock 2. If you kill them you could 'win' a buff tailored to make you a little tankier in an area you are vulnerable in. If you lose, maybe you get hit with a slightly longer 'Odin Sleep' Things like getting 'Kicked to Orbit' should simply be removed from any Single Player or Solo activity. In the case of a solo player facing a Boss at the end of a long mission, 'Dying' should NOT reset the Boss to full health. Instead, it should slightly alter the bosses behavior; maybe make them change the range they are trying to engage the player at. Maybe start throwing bowling balls at your head that can stun you for ten seconds, maybe even something funny like the Imobulous Charm in Harry Potter 2 movie; like hitting the player with a void kill kind of effect, unable to move, floating around the map, tumbling but only able to look the way you were looking when hit, watching helpless and worrying what will be underneath them when they unfreeze. As Difficulty Scales up in an activity, Mobs should change behavior in interesting ways, instead of doing what they currently do, which is go full cheat mode on you. In single player Legendary mode, mobs spam spawn as fast as you can kill them, move ridiculously fast (fast as they need to in order to overcome your ability to kill them, get progressively more bullet spongy, etc. NONE of those things are fun to fight against, they are just annoying and exhausting. Their main purpose is meant (as far as I can tell), to make you do one of a few things: 1. GIVE UP and go get a LFG group. 2. Go look up how to cheese the encounter. 3. Actually CHEAT to get it done. This is so bad that almost every Destiny 2 YouTuber I know of ACTUALLY has videos TEACHING these cheeses. Consider what that REALLY means; People who play Destiny for a living recognize these cheeses/exploits as the most viable way to complete the content solo. Obviously This is NOT as it should be. Gunship

      • I am done pre-purchasing Destiny. Will wait for the price drop and definitely not ordering seasons anymore. They are not worth it. I could not finish last few. Just play DLC at a reduced price and be done like in D1. There are some sweet games coming on PS5, Destiny is not one of them anymore. The Witch was a massive disappointment comparing to The Taken King. Only something like can truly bring me back fully. I don’t think Strand got it. Waiting for a sale.

        • When a business that has never wanted to give anything for "free", especially an expansion, and does for a month to beg players to play the "new expansion". Yeah, that's enough for me to know it's not worth my time and they aren't making the sales as they were hoping for. Actually, it must be worse than we know.

          • Don’t listen to the smooth brains who are okay with licking bungie boot. This game is going to crap and it’s no where near as fun. Also this game is borderline work if you really want a “good experience”. I wouldn’t keep order light fall cause it’s just lazy. This game used to have new content. Now it’s 75% old 25% new. And they just keep reusing assets and charging top dollar for the same thing they’ve been selling for ages. Just a higher price. 95% of the exotics in this game are borderline useless or the few that we busted. I’ve stopped playing for a while but I love coming here to check up. I did play some crucible the other day which was ok. But it was pretty boring. I’m defiantly not buying lightfall. I’m probably gonna wait till final shape. But I’m kinda done with destiny never has a game taken so much time that it feels draining. At the end of the day a game needs to be fun. And fun is in perspective. Just make sure your having fun and not playing catch-up for the rest of your life.

            • The state of play pretty much says - more nerfs all around. Time to take a break after Lightfall for me, until the next expansion. I hope they decide what they want to do with the game by then. So many announced things won't be coming until the end of the year anyway, so the last season of Lightfall will be the right time to come back. Power lvl still present, still no in game MM, etc.etc. If I haven't been invested in the story, I'd probably been skipping LF as well.

                • Ok, these nerfs coming in lightfall were needed. You can’t have a game that is too easy it would take the fun out of it. Also these nerfs had a purpose. With the 40% damage reduction on resilience it gave a little too much damage reduction. There was also buffs such as instead of at T2 and T1 stats it gives you less than the base states it gives you a stacking bonus to that stat starting at T1.

                          • It’s natural to not like nerfs, I get it. But power creep was a real problem. Abilities needed to be toned down, max resilience was mandatory for endgame and so on. The only way to level out power creep is to make some nerfs. (Buffing enemies would turn this game into a much worse bullet sponge fest so that’s not a solution) But let’s not gloss over that they buffed a bunch of things too.

We run through constant nerf/buff cycles since this game started. Meta change is the reliable constant. People will always identify the next op combo despite of any nerf. Thinking about it I realize my son - seasoned and top veteran who generously carried me through more than one instance - always critized/adviced me I was using my abilities incl. super too infrequent. That might be a weakness of my gameplay but it saves/saved me from disappointments cause I rather rely on gunplay.
