Stop blaming SBMM and start blaming Peer to Peer
SBMM would work fine and is needed in certain modes if only the game wasn't Peer to Peer (P2P).

Sbmm is skill base? Cbmm is connection base? So you telling me that new base mm put on top of of a outdated system isn’t causing players to lag or lag more? Yeahhhhh that makes perfect sense. Yes there was lag with cbmm but there’s a difference between playing against a player that has a little lag vs a player getting shot by 2 separate other players and not die, that’s what people get upset about. Loseing a match not to skill but to lag.

8 RespuestasNo, I'm gonna keep blaming sbmm because it's a playlist that divides players into tiers and doesn't provide tiered rewards on top of screwing over the connections, increasing matchmaking times as well as having us face the same subset of players over and over. Just so that players that have not invested in getting better can have a couple of peaceful games every week for the pinnacles.

Then cross play made it worse, because of whatever instability it introduced. Then for many SBMM made it even worse, because it removed players geographically closer to them that would have helped with faster and more stable connections from their player pool. It’s possible if P2P was changed then all of it would magically get better. But without knowing exactly why cross play causes such issues that can’t be guaranteed. Dedicated servers are not a silver bullet, fix all. If not implemented properly the connections could get worse. P2P is the most costly of the issues to fix. As Bungie can turn off cross play and already has a CBMM system. Probably a big problem with SBMM is the game hasn’t had it since day 1. This has made two things happen. Allowed people to stat farm for years who now are stuck in skill tiers they have no business being in. Spoiled so many people who became used to getting “we ran medals” every match and routinely getting ~40 kills a game. There would likely be more players distributed above the middle/average skill tiers naturally.

5 RespuestasIt’s both. Sbmm is the variable that can at least be changed. Only benefits bottom of the barrel skilled players. They took the lazy approach to fixing the real problem which was lobby balancing

It is a bit of both because with sbmm the game will match other countries more often than not it both parties combat ratings are alike

Destiny wasn’t meant to be competitive so why do we have SBMM? If I wanted to only stomp new lights then how is it that I got stomped in trials a couple of times? This game requires you to be average at most and yet many just want to be handheld by Bungie. CBMM>SBMM

48 RespuestasFalse news. PvP is in its worst state since Shadowkeep, and you know what happened then? SBMM. It will be reverted once the numbers drop so low that they have no choice, just like it did the last three times they tried it. It just sucks because it’s going to take half of the year for Bungie to get their heads out of the sand.

Because of this, asking for a revert to cbmm is better. Although implementing a region lock might be a possible solution if sbmm stays.

Most dedicated PvP players are above average in skill level, lag aside, queue times are a massive issue as well, then there's lobby balancing and the lack thereof. SBMM is needed in comp and the argument could be made for [i]maybe[/i] trials, but then you'd need to overhaul the entire loot system, etc. Everything else should be treated as a casual game mode. And despite what some like to think, casual does not mean SBMM.

1 RespuestaSBMM is fine, I agree. I do better on SBMM. If they go back to CBMM it's annihilation. People that complain about SBMM just want their 5.0kd back. IB has always played differently than casual. Yesterday it was fine for me. Today, oh my, the skipping teleporting is almost comical. I've killed people and they're respawned right in front of me and killed me. I see people go through rocks and then are behind me. I saw a TITAN not show up on radar. I've seen mega sword ammo or no ammo and kill after kill with sword. There are certainly issues in PVP but's it's not due to SBMM!

I'd agree the P2P has never been great in D2, but also I think we can all agree that the connection issues have gotten noticeably worse these last 2 seasons.

SBMM isn't fun, cross play is hot garbage and a laggy mess, p2p is bad but I kind of miss that being the only problem in regards to PvP connections 🤣 it's sad that was the glory days 😂

At this stage of the current game they pretty much can’t change the way the servers work so for the rest of d2 all they can change is the matchmaking so that’s the issue.
