We already have iron banner and trials, why does the game need a third playlist for competitive pvp?
Imagine any other pvp game looking like this. unranked play, ranked play, super-duper ranked play, limited time event ranked play, etc. its stupid, makes zero sense

1 RespuestaI think that’s how genuinely should actually be spelled it’s much better

Editado por A_mo: 12/23/2022 2:11:58 AMSome of the stuff this game is doing is just really bad. There really shouldn't be that many times where someone doesn't take damage for inexplicable reasons and then proceeds to apply dr to themselves or put up a barrier shield. How is it not obvious why things like that happen?
Imagine any other pvp game looking like this
Well that's your problem, you think Destiny is a pvp game.

Not a large enough population. Most people play quick play

1 RespuestaHaven't played comp this season cos IMO there is no point at all. A) No meanigful rewards. Like seriously, an old legendary HC that isn't even craftable. Atleast they could give us an exotic HC with something like interchangeable champion mods (kinda like Hardlight can switch it's elemental damage). That would be atleast somehow useful. You can go creative here. B) No specific & significant rules or mechanics. It's basically 3vs3 quickplay with minor tweaks. Atleast scrims have some rules to make it more interesting, like weapon restrictions, no class stacking (like in Overwatch) ... again you can go really creative here. C) No dedicated servers. At this point complaining about lag is like complaining about getting solo-supered in mayhem. I can live with that in Quickplay, no big deal. But comp should be a different beast.

5 RespuestasThe system is literally the same as the old comp. It's all SBMM and the ladder might as well not exist. Instead of Legend it's Ascendant, nothing changed. The ladder only means something if you design the system to give it value instead of trying to focus on making sure that literally every game you play is "perfectly balanced". Rank based matchmaking is the only way to tell people where they belong, the ladder means nothing until that becomes a reality.

68 RespuestasTo be fair each are different. Trials is a elimination knockout style mode. Try to chain 7 wins with no losses with games that get progressively harder. Banner is a once every 6 weeks 6vs6 casual pvp mode for exclusive loot. Comp is a ranked playlist that oddly doesn't use rank for its mm but rather skill which basically means you're playing clones of yourself from 0-ascendant instead of it being based on rank but that's bungie

1 RespuestaYou can get pinnacle weapons like the Recluse and Revoke.......oh wait.

I reached adept two yesterday I can tell you, so far, that none of my matches felt any more difficult than if it were another control quickplay There are a few exceptions, but 70% of my games would end with even stats, while the 30% were steam roll games by either side of true spectrum It’s quite straightforward and simple to rank up, but I don’t think there’s any reward for it..

See: lul skill issue Bruh, you're a ".6" and I'm a 2.5. You crutch meta, try hard skrub I'm *gilded title* x6, stfu.

1 RespuestaIf ranked was actually ranked based match making with a ladder, it would make sense. But it isn't
-
Without showing comp rank or getting any cosmetic rewards there isn't really a point. They removed other modes so it's that or nothing really.
-
7 RespuestasMore odd that they’ve reduced the presence of IB and won’t let comp breath. Especially since those us who liked comp enjoyed it for Survival!
or at least that’s what I liked
-
Well it is the only ranked playlist so the true competitive really, if the ranking system actually made sense

I’d argue that iron banner is less and less competitive PvP. No light enabled, gimmick game modes etc. I’m not complaining and think the change is better for the majority but it’s not competitive.
-
Cause SBMM. Everyone needs a participation award or they get salty cause they can’t get rewards they feel better entitled too.
-
What's the point of anything, it's all chaos.
-
So competitive players don’t ruin the casual playlists by looking to pub stomp because they’re bored.
-
It's to train their staff when building game systems for bungies games that are in development

Editado por BOSSNONO254: 12/21/2022 1:47:41 PMNever thought about it that way. But when you put it like that, then I guess you make a valid point. Its not like there’s any other kind of incentive to comp besides maybe rose and the title. But even then, it’s still not enough for it to be relevant when you have iron banner, quick play, and trials. Maybe if Bungie reworked the comp system and locked specific loot such as weapons and other cosmetics behind it, with greater rewards being granted at higher ranks. Then maybe it would be worth doing. Not to mention if Bungie hosted their own version of a “championship” game where the best comp teams are pinned against each other in a series of matches to claim a prize. But not lock it behind “streamers” which in fact are exclusively picked to do certain events/competitions. Let said completion be allowed for all members of the community. All the things I listed seem to be much better incentives to make comp more tempting to try. And it would at least make players feel like their time is being used up for something that is actually worth doing. Other than running something to just be rewarded a reissued hand cannon and what seems like an easier bootleg Unbroken seal.

2 RespuestasI just played a 2v3 for my last relegation match.

2 RespuestasEditado por eeriearcade: 12/21/2022 7:46:46 AMIron Banner is considered a competitive playlist? Putting that to one side, Trials is designed for the very best players. It’s a sprint to try and achieve Flawless, within a long weekend. Competitive Division is designed for a much wider range of skill. It’s a marathon, across the season, to find your rank* and then see if you can improve in order to progress higher. You have Quickplay, Rotator and Labs which usually aren’t considered competitive.
*I don’t mean the rank you get given after the 7 placement matches. I’m talking about your true rank, where you have to improve in order to progress higher.
Editado por hate n payne: 12/21/2022 11:21:33 AMI see no reasoning to have a competitive ranking in a casual looter shooter nor a set of competitive modes. It is mind blogging. This game has suffered primarily due to Bungie not being a PVP oriented set of developers trying to appease to a crowd of competitive wannabe’s. This game functioned much better when it had Combined Arms and no Trials. Ever since Trials came into the game, it became excessively toxic in every shape and form. What is done is done, however, I feel the game can live without anything competitive especially when it comes to modes that dont even identify who is more skilled or competitive due to the excessive cheesiness and like-minded behavior of play and loadouts. The sad thing is that the game has a natural competitive design within it without the need for a competitive mode. The fact that players watch streamers play the same strategy both in Trials and COMP are alarming signs of delusions for a game meant to be casual looter shooter but is imagined as a competitive shooter.
