Very little believable emotion or passion between the characters the writing and even voice acting around it make them feel more like brothers (obviously not when they kissed) so I can understand many other guardians confusion. 2 Lovers regardless of gender or orientation would have strong passion, esp that of lovers who had been separated like they were.
