If SBMM was brought back because Bungie wanted more player retention, it has failed. Player count is at an all time low. Not the lowest, but very very low. Bungie sees the numbers better then we can. They know SBMM isnt keeping people around. There is a ranked mode that uses SBMM (LOL) coming out next season. Why keep sbmm and leaver penalties in the casual gamemode?
Also its not called quitter penalties its Leaver Penalties. Other more successful companies like Overwatch/League have an established competitive league. Its called Leaver Penalties for 10 years or more. Stop trying to control the narrative and make it sound worse then it is.
Edit: I logged in because the app said this had a lot of upvotes. It didnt tell me it got downvoted even harder. I guess logic and common sense doesnt apply to some people, all they see "SBMM bad? downvote"

13 RespuestasSkill based matchmaking was brought back by player demand nothing else. Bungie set things as they wanted before the last set of changes was made.

1 RespuestaHaha, yeah the players left to play several other sbmm games.
-
5 RespuestasHahaha what killed it for pve players? Currently nobody is playing a lot. I guess sbmm in strikes killed it huh 😭😭😭😭😭
-
I've stayed because of it

Editado por X-LoganX: 11/26/2022 11:39:35 PMIt obviously did enough to expand it to 2 modes on the loose form and the new comp mode in a tighter form. The numbers clearly show that Control retained the second highest player pop AND player retention. It's delusional to think that at the end of a season it's sbmm's fault that player pop is low.

I just deleted the game tbh Can't fix it at this point

It's doing great at the moment... Gives me the time to focus on more productive tasks... Great Job! Bungie!

Can’t wait to see all the sbmm defenders with their delusional responses soon.

2 RespuestasThey’re not going to fix it anytime soon, they’ve dug their heels in on this bad idea and won’t budge.
-
2 RespuestasBecause it was only SBMM for 2 weeks. After that it was back to lopsided matches. Bungie is terrible at pvp matchmaking.

1 RespuestaBecause in typical Bungie fashion they listen to the wrong people and massively swing in the wrong direction as a result. They should be focusing on making a fun and uniquely replayable game they are all passionate about rather than a few squeakers on the internet that represent an extremely small minority of the player base. This is the root of every single problem in this game. Class balance/power fantasy issues, story problems, player loss, etc… They are more focused on the politics as well as their feedback than actually making a product they care about. Just look at Elden Ring. That game is the product of every single thing FromSoftware did right and fixed a lot of what was wrong. Yes partially from player feedback, but they were careful about who they listened to. They stuck to their dream and made a game they could all be proud of and all wanted. They were all passionate about what they were doing. Everywhere from art direction to world-building, Elden Ring is massively successful. Why? Because FromSoftware are the polar opposite of Bungie and other companies like this. We all think Bungie is better because of Halo, but this realistically isn’t the same Bungie we had. This is just a product to them. They are doing things to appease the consumer and like a lot of other triple-A game companies, they manage to dig themselves into a deeper grave with every choice they make. Pray that Lightfall proves me wrong. I think it’ll be good, but nothing near the caliber of Elden Ring, or even other games/DLC’s. Bungie is sitting on a crumbling foundation and is only adding to its cracks. How long until they turn full corpo rat on us, if not already? Just look at their new even monetization for the majority of recycled content we’ve always gotten for free. It’s shameful honestly. You can’t really blame devs either, they probably have no say on anything that happens. I’m sure plenty of them are full of passion for this game. I thought the new guy in charge was better, and in some aspects he is, but we are starting to see exactly what flaws he has along with everyone else on top. It’s honestly just a shame that the people in charge of this game have such little respect for the ones keeping them afloat, and such little direction that they’d resort to listening to the internet of all places. Choose the feedback you listen to wisely, Bungie. Make your own game and pump it full of love. That will have it flying off the digital shelves. Elden Ring is proof of that.

it was so that lower tier player dont leave because of facing good players thats why
-
1 RespuestaSbmm was implemented to cater to bottom tiers who barely touch the mode. Anyone not drunk on copium knew the outcome of hundreds of thousands of players bailing on d2 would be the outcome
-
cuz sadly is how bungie works now, listen to bad players
-
Sbmm is needed for the players who only play pvp for pinnacles, they must be protected at all costs.
