If you could have anything in PvP…

Hi! Hippy here! We’ve said a few times that the team has been heads down on overhauling PvP gradually (and that we are comfy quite yet saying the more distant plans while the team test some things out) for the future and that we know it can be frustrating to not see that. Still can’t talk about it and I’m hoping me posting this on a Sunday helps show that this isn’t a work question, per se, but more of an interest and let’s talk type thing, but wanted to chat! If you could dream up anything for PvP; returning, new, “what the hell does that mean,” what would that be and why? Olive branch here to try to be more active on the forums, please be kind 🙏🏻

  • Kind of a random thought, but something that's been mulling around in my mind is Iron Banner's identity. Iron Banner just kind of feels like normal crucible with decorations at the moment. A thought that came to mind though. With everything that's going on right now in the lore, wouldn't it make more sense for Iron Banner to turn into a Gambit game mode? A couple times a season, Saladin returns to take over Drifter's gambit, but rather than the usual gambit, it is in coordination with the Cabal. Combat training, and friendly (in Cabal Standards) competition between allied parties. Rather than banking motes, fireteams must collect pieces of a Bell of Conquest. These will drop from Ultra Enemies that will be dropping in as you take out waves. The goal is to build the bell, and ring it to call out a Cabal Champion, as we do in Gambit. Invaders are still a thing, but rather than just killing guardians, their goal is to break the opponents bell, and steal pieces to take back to their own bell. Instead of being teleported back, they must make their way to the thresher for exfil back to their side of the battlefield. They are also in danger of a new mechanic. Capture. When a guardian is down, opposing guardians can approach the ghost, disabling its light temporarily, and allowing the guardian to capture the ghost. The animation takes some time to allow teammates to save the ghost being captured, and can down a guardian before they exfil to save the captured ghosts. If they exfil with ghosts, those players are eliminated. Since invaders are behind enemy lines, being captured before their ghost can rez them is certain doom. My hope with this is to make invasions more of a risk/reward scenario. This mechanic could also be separated into an "endgame" version for those wanting more challenge, and quicker games.

    • A Playlist where we could equip an exotic in every weapon slot sounds really fun to me. Also I wish there was a Playlist where abilities are not usable as well. That way we would be able to see the effects abilities have on gunplay in the crucible and it would just be interesting. Also it would be interesting to have an actual pvp based game mode where we actually have enemies in the match as well as enemy players. Also a mayhem based Playlist where you can use anything in its Un nerfed state like supers exotics etc also sounds fun to me.

Please ignore the trolls and derailers who would love nothing more than to try and upset you. Imo? What PvP needs most is a real loot incentive. This is, I think, a realistic starting point and isn't as drastic as overhauling Destiny 2's entire connection system or massive balancing changes to begin. Trials is a good start, but not enough. Exclusive PvP pinnacle weapons were excellent, but a balancing problem that made the rich richer and contributed to the plague of recovs/paid carries. I don't think Bungie should've removed any Trials weapons from its loot pool unless they plan on bringing them back with refreshed perks and the Alacrity origin trait. Give players of all skill levels a real loot incentive to engage with PvP modes, as well as exclusive loot for the upper end of PvP skill level (stuff that isn't as balance-breaking as pinnacles were). I'm not the first to suggest this probably, but exclusive, showy cosmetics that are more than just a Trials glow would do wonders to revitalize PvP. More frequent weapon updates and drops in PvP would be amazing, too. A way to target-farm PvP weapons would also be great and would bring life back to the Competitive playlist, as well. A final thing: I would love if Ascendant Alloys were also added into the Trials lighthouse chest rewards as a drop, to let PvPers be able to craft enhanced perks solely through end-game PvP engagement. I know it's a lot, but I hope this makes sense. Basically more rewards, better rewards = a real loot incentive for players to chase = higher playing and engagement. Make PvP worth playing in a looter-shooter.

Olive branch here to try to be more active on the forums, please be kind 🙏🏻[/quote] Stop nerfing abilities, supers, and everything that makes Destiny what it is, create a specific mode where they are disabled and return the go fast update ya'll nerfed because "cough" unfun in PvP Freelance casual with SBMM, regular with CBMM, the solo experience has been proven to be the least thought about aspect of this game behind PvP Actual loot that works ONLY in PvP, not necessarily guns but Armor with specific mods that cannot be built around that give you a clear advantage and base it off the rank system. Let it apply to all modes not just trials or IB. OT but stop nerfing weapons and exotics because "its broken in PvP on PC. You have killed weapons and exotics all for the bs excuse of its op on PC, if you cannot completely seperate console and PC then just stop all together Give your community a voice, map selection

Solo only or full fire teams.

      • Something else that would be good is to let wells and warmind cells work in crucible. Charged with light mods are the only ones that do for some reason idk if thats just ease of balancing but it would be awesome to branch out a little bit from just charged with light mods

        I would like to see newer and slightly bigger maps for 6v6. It seems to be too congested for that setting and theres not enough corridors in between big rooms. In the case of guns I've played this game long enough to adjust to whatever you throw at me just make the guns consistent in engagements, it's getting frustrating to keep up with how often it changes. Arial Effectiveness was interesting to hear about but in practice it's just not worth the time for someone to spec into. It feels like player skill was nerfed artificially which is silly but to me thats what it feels like. I'm very passionate for games that have cool set pieces and great fight instances and I want to see this game be an amazing show of how talented the dev teams are. I just don't see it reflected much in PVP all it ever ends up being is. Change gun usage, pick 3 or 4 maps that are usually what have been played on billions of times, gear adjustment, repeat for next balance pass. Thank you for coming onto this forum and I hope you guys use it more. Just get that tough skin and do your best.

            • The two major things I would want for pvp is no special ammo starts and bring back 4v4. Both of these settings could be included in one separate playlist. Yes, this is similar to destiny 1, but many people actually liked that formula. Having to fight for special ammo would make people have to use their primaries instead of using things like a witherhoard for the whole match. Besides that, bringing back the old maps should be a must. There was no reason to remove the pvp maps on top of removing the planets from the destinations page.

Why: Special Ammo Boxes in Destiny 1 contributed a lot to players moving to different places on the map as same as allowing bad players to have more reaction time due to better players going for the ammo boxes, resulting in combat downtime and a slower combat pace, due to less active OHK special weapons on the field. (Edit) Potential Result: Less Special Weapons active per Minute, more focus on Primaries in PvP gunfights and less People abusing "crutch" Special Weapons like Lorentz Driver and such.               Fixing Melee and shotgun whiffs (and whiffs of all kinds). Combined arms returning would be welcomed! Have it in it's own playlist and added to the control playlist. Speaking of playlists, constant/combined crucible playlists for modes like control, clash, supremacy, rift. The weekly rotating crucible modes can get a little stale. Having crucible playlists similar to how they were in D1 would be a big step forward, in my opinion. This may be somewhat of an unpopular opinion, but I would like some of the maps from D1 returned, such as Firebase Delphi and Skywatch. This does not mean that I don't want NEW maps, just those returning maps would be great in addition to new ones. And please, less huge maps! Although Dysjunction can be fun to play on sometimes, it, Eternity, The Fortress, and Vostok can be miserable to play on repeatedly. Thank you for posting! I really do love Destiny, but there are some issues that need resolving. I appreciate that you fine people at Bungie are doing your best for a game that I have played for years!               Big supporter, but you need to change direction on how your going. Split it Focus driven DLCs PVP only - pay money Separate team base bungie PVE only - pay money Separate team base bungie Seasonal stuff PVP & PVE at the same time some free, some you pay 💰 like usual.                 Destiny style flinch removed from snipers and linears, add forced descoping like other shooters. Add aiming friction to snipers (toggleable setting) so they're more user friendly like other shooters. I can snipe in literally any other shooter but can't to save my life in Destiny. And it aint because of the flying, gliding, and jumping. Something about them feels different. Like the way the reticle moves.

              • First thing is Honestly a true ranked system. With a tower leaderboard over by shaxx and everything. We want to see our internal skill numbers you give us when we match so we know where we stack up. I wanna know exactly what I'm facing when I load in and not be confused when that dude hits a crazy shot. Second thing is that The crucible is infinitely replayable because you play different humans all the time. It however does not make it fun when I'm blindfolded all the time by weird matchmaking parameters forcing me to lose matches. Team balancing needs to work in a way that caps how much an outlier can sway team balancing. Just because that person is good doesn't mean you should be forcing them towards a 50% win loss ratio. It's fun to go on long win streaks especially by yourself. I shouldn't need to form a team to quite literally force the game to not make me lose

              • If you could please put lunas howl back as a 180 as it was (s9 can 3 tap), but have the perk reset if you move target (so the potential for 2 tapping someone has gone, I'd be all over it! Make it exotic to again restrict loadouts.. I will be thanking you
