I've been avoiding the opportunity to Masterwork any of my Armor because I'm not sure where to start. So many things to consider and each season things change even more. I've Masterworked weapons easy enough and my Ghosts, but Armor is the big one. I think the Cloak/Bond/Mark item would be the first choice because it goes with about anything else. Then next I would probably choose the highest stat armor pieces I have; for example a 66 helmet with a plus 10 stat bonus for 76 would be a good start. But is there a preferred choice between Helm, Gauntlet, Chest and Leg? I'd hate to waste the resources since they take so long to acquire. Any suggestions to get me started?

I would get your stat distribution exactly how you want it, plan out your build, and once your armour/exotic are all set then worry about MW’ing. You need to factor in what element your armour pieces are going to be as well since that will play into your build. You are right though, your class item is the safest bet since having one of each element is very helpful long term.

I started with masterworking a class item of each element. The seasonal mods tend to be pricey, usually go on your class item, and you can swap them out for different elements when you need to use a certain combat style mod.

Always start with your class item. Clock, mark, bond. Why? they are always god rolled and you only need 1 to 4 as you can change the element type with a upgrade mod or masterwork 1 of each element and you won't need any others ever for builds.

Class item

Class item or gloves so room for champ mods

I would go for the arms since most mods to stun a champion are tied to the arms. If you are capable of stunning champions endgame content will be much easier and so it is to get more upgrade materials for the other armor pieces.
