the more and more powerful we seem to become and the more improvements we recieve as guardian lead me to believe we are becoming the bad guys.... anyone else feel this way?

12 Respuestas<We've almost always been on defense. Almost every single one of our motives were based on looming threats, invitations, or they were reactionary. - The Heart was a literal Darkness artifact sapping the Traveler's Light. - Crota and his brood (hell almost every other Hive on this list) are responsible for killing BILLIONS, exterminating entire species with zero regret. - Oryx got himself killed mostly. Also he had the neat ability to send you straight to the literal God of Darkness to have your SOUL overridden. - The Splicers... they were threatening us but they're probably the least antagonistic... amazingly. - Ghaul bombed the City, killed hundreds, and threatened to destroy the system. - Panoptes was literally beginning to enact a plan that would leave the Vex as the sole survivors of the entire universe, including the eradication of Light and Dark. - Xol was going to kill Rasputin - Uldren killed Cayde. Even though we pursued out of vengeance, almost all the Scorn Barons (MAYBE the Mindbender being the exception) were complete maniacs and regular murderers, the worst of the Eliksni even by their standards. I only leave Hiraks up for debate because most of his crimes were experiments with Ascendant portals and banging Hive. - Riven was threatening to Blight the entire Dreaming City, thanks Savathun - Dul Incaru was in the middle of Blighting the entire Dreaming City, thanks again Savathun - Siviks was planning to NUKE the City with a -blam!- Metal Gear - We were invited to kill Gahlran, who was going crazy thanks to Savathun - The remnants of Crota's brood were making a fuss, I don't think I need to explain why those Hive are bad - Garden of Salvation was a test, we were invited... granted not by the Vex but by the Pyramids. - Yeah... OK... I see the point with Undying. - The Flayers were literally trying to reach racial superiority - Amtec was literally going to crash a multi-kilometer space station into the City, which had a good chance of wiping out all life on Earth period - No, I kinda feel bad for Nokris. Thanks Savathun... again - We were investigating Variks, got pulled into some -blam!-. Eramis's death was probably a good thing since she was going a little crazy. House Salvation was bleeding members before we even got there. Also the Dark Future showed she would become a legit threat had we not stopped her. - The High Celebrant was spearheading an operation to literally corrupt people's minds - Yeah we kinda -blam!- with Caiatl's rituals... but then again Caiatl was abusing those to great rid of dissenters anyway... I think we both did each other a favor there. - My poor child Quria was cast to the wayside by Savathun. She set it to drain the City's power. She set it to infest the networks with her own -blam!-. - Xivu Arath, the Scorn, and the Taken are aligned with the Winnower and the Pyramids. Just because their mission is to kill Savathun doesn't mean they won't turn their attention on us. Reminder that the Winnower will continue to winnow until there's nothing left standing but itself. - According to the simple fact that Season of the Risen exists, Savathun is actually going on the offensive and she's intentionally leading us to her Throne World for something. So that's just another reason to tack onto the "why Savathun, despite being neutral, is an actual menace and should be dealt with". Very few of the people we've faced were good people by the time we got involved.>

6 RespuestasLet’s be real, good and evil are subjective to the core.
-
you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain
-
I could tell you that there is no good or bad since Bungie introduced a more complex narrative to the game, and that guardians now do kinda whatever they want as the Vanguard has no more serious hold over them. But as Zavala said to Caiatl: "All I have to do to make them end you, is to tell them you have a fancy new gun, or that Eris can turn you into one" lol So -blam!- the others, only loot matters ! kickass guns and wearing them as a hat !
-
Ohhh, it's ok, you've always been bad in relation to the universe...take, kill, power.
-
9 RespuestasI've been saying it since I came to D2 that there's nothing good about our Guardian. We use every other species attempts to gain power as an excuse to commit genocide on them.

Remember the cutscene in Season of the Splicer about how the Eliksini viewed Saint 14 when he invaded their homeworld? There's a good case to be made that Guardians are not the heroes they think they are. For those who haven't seen the cutscene, it's here: https://youtu.be/KY9ASje0p8c

1 RespuestaYes, I actually see it that way too - humanity was chosen by the traveler because it is esoterically impressionable and pragmatic at the same time. Manipulation is easier with it. The Guardians don't question what they do and the ghosts themselves are sometimes uncertain. Humanity is like a virus (hi Mr Smith) and continues to exist despite numerous enemies. The darkness lives by "eat or be eaten", but the chosen humanity lived by "eat and only eat". The final raid will be against the traveler who opposed the balance of the universe.

1 RespuestaJust because half our life is spent murdering other Guardians and trying to exterminate other species? Not to mention working for the gangster, Spider. Do good guys do that?
-
You guys are thinking too hard
-
Its not about good and bad. Its about defending humanity from the forces that would seek to do it harm.

I don’t see how being powerful equals to being bad. That’s…lazy thinking.

8 RespuestasI have a theory, it does have holes, but the traveler is the winnower and the pyramids are the gardener. This would explain why everyone effected by the traveler dies and why the traveler doesn't make creatures immortal (except guardians). The winnower is essential death and was against immortality. The gardener was life and wanted its creations to live forever. Creaters blessed by the pyramids (or its followers) gain immortality so long as they follow their rules.

2 RespuestasFROM MY POINT OF VIEW, THE GUARDIANS ARE EVIL
-
How does that thought process even make sense

1 RespuestaWe, as a species, have been destroying ourselves and everything around us since we were first conceived. The Traveler basically broke reality cause it was bored and wanted to prove itself(herself?) right. It then proceeded to condemn many alien races but sacrifice itself multiple times to preserve a specific race that— let’s face it— doesn’t deserve to be saved. Humanity has shown no empathy toward the Eliksni who are just like us but not lucky enough to be chosen by a false God. Granted, they attacked first but we’ve had plenty of chances to make peace since then and it’s taken us far too long to try. So yeah… we suck. That’s just my opinion, of course. Some of this may be subjective.
-
Not really. We haven’t done anything remotely evil and power on its own isn’t bad either. I’d honestly be surprised if bungie canonically had our character prank someone their written to be so altruistic.
-
I see it as we are getting powerful enough to end the Light vs Dark. To put a stop to this never ending dance.
-
Ignore moral dilemmas, do anything for loot!
-
I’m definitely one of the bad guys
-
not really we’ve been on the defensive side not once did we go on the offense side as in invade one of their planets no

The line between light and dark is so very thin. Do you know which side you're on?
