Hey All :)
So, in the summer for the first time i installed Des 2, had a little go at as much f2p stuff as I could, decided I liked the game - and just purchased the previous dlc's in black friday sales. (For this reason btw I think the limited F2P content is great, try before you buy is good - i notice a lot of hate on these forums about that). Anyway.... 3 of my friends have also done the same and were looking at working through the game together. Were all experienced gamers, aged mid 30's - from the golden generation of gaming ;)
First impressions - Lovely looking game, but not the simplest to understand! I think the UI makes things difficult (Its quite -blam!- imo). Mission and achievement pages all over the place, but no doubt you get used to it. All of these weapon roll combinations that at the moment mean very little to me but im following some youtube guides on what to get and what not to get.
We plan on doing the forsaken stuff first since its going to go in February, can anyone offer general pointers of the current offering within the game. I want to do what I can for the sake of getting things done and completing. Would be nice to get as much of the story I can in the correct order but again this is seems harder to understand due to the mission layout screens.
Basically - where do I start!?
I should also add PVP has little interest for us at the moment in case thats relevant. Weve been part of and ran clans in other games but want more of a relaxed commitment for now so unless there is a major benefit to joining a clan I think we would rather keep it within our own group
and one smaller side question
I enjoy the gambit matches and use a scout rifle for a balance of ranged accuracy and damage but notice for most scout rifles dont get a lot of love. Is there anything similar that people would recommend? looking for the old battle rifle equivalent of the halo days, although clearly this is a very different game with very different weapons!
If theres any pre existing forum threads people want to re direct my attention to if things have been asked recently then thats fine, and apologies for asking again!

Editado por TheArtist: 12/3/2021 5:22:10 PM1. Welcome. 2. Focus on Forsaken and any other campaign content (Shadowkeep, Beyond Light) you have access to. Mainly because it will be going away soon, but also because it gives you the best story content to learn about the Destiny universe and the important characters. Lastly it will make leveling up simpler. 3. Then do the seasonal content. Because it will also be going away...and it has additional story content that is important to know before diving into Witch Queen. 4. After that, then dive into the end-game... My advice? Play the parts of the game you enjoy. Only if you are thinking about Trials of Osiris, Master level Raids, or higher level Nightfalls (none of which I recommend to a newer player) you don't have to really worry about leveling up past the seasonal cap of 1320. The game at this point is about playing the stuff you enjoy....and chasing down the loot you want. Then experimenting with different builds and play styles you enjoy. Then as you get a better sense of what parts of the game that speak to you...then think about focusing on those parts. But you'll have a much better idea of how the game works and what it offers at that point.

How about more Gambit?

If ur confused about orders of story it goes forsaken shadowed and then beyond light, however there is very little that ties them together so which one u play first doesn't matter too much Servant leader is a scout that I find works very well in pvp and is decent for pve depending on ur roll. I believe I got it from completing gambit matches, wasn't a win, I'm not sure if that's the only source tho Feel free to add me if u want I'll help with just about everything if I'm able.

Add me :), my buddy and i could help you all through activities and what not.

Find whatever just clicks with you in this game. For me back in the day it was whisper, after that i was hooked. Find whats fun to you and dont be afraid to try new things

5 RespuestasGet your light level up so you can get in to Presage. It’s on Tangled Shore and I don’t know if they are relocating it.

6 RespuestasEditado por Brickinthewall87: 12/1/2021 1:36:52 AMWelcome guardian! I'll try to keep it short as I can here since you have plenty of opinions to scroll through already: 1. Focus FOR NOW on forsaken as you planned since its going away soon, especially in regards to any exotic weapons or quests since they may not be available at all once witch queen launches. 2. Try out LOTS of different weapons and builds to see what you like. Youtube streamers often have good reccomendations, but in the end its about what you like and what works for you; NOT what works for someone else! 3. Save materials as best you can, and don't rush to upgrade any weapons or armor early on unless you ABSOLUTELY love them (ESPECIALLY armor!). You don't have to hoard things, but keep in mind that you will get better armor and weapons as time goes on, so its nice to have some saved up for a rainy day! Especially since some materials are pretty hard to come by as a new player. 4. Just in case you haven't discovered this yet, Xur is your friend! So are Banshee and Ada! Always be sure to check what they (and other vendors) have in case its something you want! That goes DOIBLE for any weapon or armor Mods that you don't have yet. Xur shows up Friday through Monday in various locations. Banshee and Ada are always there in the tower. Ada will get new stuff every week on Tuesday, and banshee with get new stuff twice per week; on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yes its a lot to watch, but worth keeping an eye out for good stuff! Plus its hilariously easy to watch once you get to my next reccomendation... 5. The mobile app is actually REALLY useful. Seriously, it's worth getting just so you can pick up bounties without going to the tower and to see what different vendors are selling at any given moment. Being able to move items between characters and the vault from anywhere is also an extremely nice feature. And ALL of this works wether you are signed in to the game or not. good stuff! 6. You can find tutorials for literally EVERYTHING online, and there are plenty of websites with tons of useful info (light.gg in particular is great, among many others). The community overall does a great job of making info available and posting turorials! I could go on, but you'll figure the rest out over time! Guess I failed at keeping it short, but oh well- I hope some of this helps! See you space cowboy...

3 RespuestasEditado por ODSTrooper: 11/30/2021 4:48:27 PMWell I'm sad now, the pretty detailed reply I was typing out to you was lost when my laptop had an unexpected shut down (which I never had occur before) and I didn't have it pasted elsewhere or anything. I will say more later and keep it short for now, the main thing to keep always in mind is the fact that a lot of this older content will be vaulted and cut from the game before long. Have a glance at this for a summary of what's going away and it may help prioritize things to do, https://www.shacknews.com/article/127867/everything-leaving-destiny-2-with-the-witch-queen - Complete Forsaken campaign - Patrol the Tangled Shore and at least visit each of the Lost sectors once to experience those. You could also aim to do the Broodhold & Hallowed lair strikes. - Do Presage and Harbinger missions which both unlock an exotic scout rifle and hand cannon respectively (for the first time completion they each have a perk called Transmutative in which states that future drops of this weapon will have a random roll of perks from amongst several options). This activity is then repeatable in future weeks and this is how you unlock other rolls of the weapon. See the following guides or otherwise look up on Youtube. Keep in mind these missions are where you also earn their Catalysts (which are thing for exotic weapons that when unlocked provide some additional bonus or stat boosts for these weapons), and when these areas get removed so will the means to earn their catalysts will be likely gone too. The weapons themselves I can see being added to the Monument of lost lights in the tower (next to the vaults) but the catalysts I'm not sure will be made available immediately elsewhere. https://www.thegamer.com/destiny-2-dead-mans-tale-guide/#:~:text=1%20Step%201%3A%20Find%20The%20Distress%20Beacon.%20The,where%20the%20meat%20of%20this%20Exotic...%20More%20 https://www.gamepur.com/guides/how-to-get-the-hawkmoon-exotic-hand-cannon-let-loose-thy-talons-destiny-2#:~:text=%20How%20to%20get%20the%20Hawkmoon%20Exotic%20Hand,the%20EDZ%20and%20follow%20the%20ways...%20More%20

1 RespuestaForsaken (tangled shore/dreaming city) Shadowkeep (moon) Beyond Light (Europa) Are the dlc drops in that order. I'd work through each and every story campaign (also check the quest kiosk next to the postmaster) and then speak to every NPC and gather as many quests as possible (not bounties. Quests. Though might be worth grabbing bounties too). Once that's sorted, do whatever! Work through those quests, raise your power level (thousands of guides online) or explore (secret missions are some of the best content Bungie has ever released - Presage, Harbinger are the currently accessible ones). Most importantly, find and join a clan! Be active! Join their discord. At its core Destiny is a game about community, playing with people will lead to some of the best experiences you'll have in this game. And once you're high enough light, Do raids! Arguably the best content Destiny has, basically big 6 man missions. Grab someone willing to teach you the raid and some clanmates (or use LFG) and jump in! Grandmaster Nightfalls are great PvE content too, but by the time you're GM ready, you'll probably know what you're doing. As for you're weapons, don't worry about rolls, just ask someone who knows their -blam!-, and they'll tell you what to get rid of. Listen to them long enough and you'll pick up what to keep or get rid of. Also, Pulse Rifles are the closest thing to Battle Rifles from Hal. No Time to Explain and Vigilance Wing are great accessible all round picks.

Editado por Meaga: 12/1/2021 12:53:44 PMFor PvP skill see this post https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/260126568/0/0 I would focus on leveling up and learning about the weapons first. Learn the raids, strikes and how crucible works. If this a first FPS it’ll be hard with the intense movement but you’ll get it man!

2 RespuestasThere's a lot to do in this game I'll give you that I was very confused cause I came from simpler games such as Apex Legends, and any other games that had easy UI's I had done what you did which was look up YouTube guides and it's been a while since I've started this game (over a year now I think) and I'm still looking up guides on what and how to get weapons that are good and I won't lie LFG (Looking For Group) can sometimes be a harsh place I won't lie and can also be difficult to find help for old exotic quest and such. Although I will admit I don't know the most about this game but what I do know is eventually you will get the hang of it and as of where to start??? Honestly if you looking to improve and be a long time hardcore player then I would suggest anything that gives you pinnacle/Meta PVE and PVP gear such as raids and nightfalls and you weekly pinnacle rewards if your looking to enjoy the game I would recommend trying (as you said) the forsaken DLC because it's hands down the most enjoyable. Shadowkeep was a little over hyped but I would suggest forsaken and beyond light and if you are confident you will be here for the Witch Queen launch then that DLC might be worth getting but me personally am going to be waiting for it to be out and see some reviews on it before I spend up to 100 dollars on something that could be the same situation as shadow keep. Forsaken had the BEST storyline and beyond light gave the best rewards (example would be the new subclass stasis) 👍👍👍

1 RespuestaI would absolutely recommend spending some time watching YouTube vids about this sort of stuff, there's loads of videos out there that explain a lot of things very well!

2 RespuestasLeveling artifact ranks, if you plan to gain full access to the game. roughly 17-ish million EXP. pvp with out getting dumpstered on? Leveling your artifact as well. Doing the latest raid, leveling as well. I know this seem like a negative review of the game. But Ive discussed this with a buddy and getting into Destiny 2 and atleast being becoming a incredibly avrage player take a srs time commitment. If you want to know why pvp and and mid tier pve are a grind requirement read the spolier. Other wise your game experience will be grinding low level dungeons and playing a few casual strikes.
Lets get pvp out of the way first, unless your some battlefeild, cod, or valorant god your not going to find it fun. Even Bungie analitcs show around 70% of players entirely drop the game after stepping foot in the crucible, with a endless amount of h8 threads toward pvp posted every week. This is because you can be beaten by gear alone, currently feel bad examples are having a 6year old casually walk up to you and shatter diveing or a god roll palindrome that out classes any weapon you could ever obtain till you start farming Grand Masters to obtain said loot. You may think the playing feild is then some what level'd in armor/abilitys, wrong. Take example myself im one of the very very few with 4 stats maxed out at 100(likely less then 200ppl have done this) and can spam abilitys, heal faster, move faster, take more damage, and cast more supers. As for weapons well you cant compete either when their gun has more range then any thing you can obtain. Well hold on why would I match vs these geared out players or better then I players since I am new, well good sir DESTINY HAS NO RANKED OR SKILL BASED MATCH MAKING its all random. Even the community dev leader Dmg04 had on his twitter page a pvp meme of thanos *when I encounter a new light player* "Im so sorry little one". It was such a big problem that cheating became a normalcy in this game to the point even streamers/content creators agreed one in 3 ppl were cheating in the game till we got battle eye and it was true. Ok pvp out of the way now pve. Honestly not as frustrateing as pvp goes and is the gate to a better pvp expierence, but requires MASSIVE amounts of grinding. That 17mill exp i spoke of is also laboring under the concept that your gear hard score is also maxed, if not you need more exp. Thats it really just grind your -blam!- off to get a max gear score then 15 light levels of seasonal artifact then your allowed to que for GM or master VoG. If you took the time to read this warning and have the stones, start with Last Wish. Its considered the pinnacle of this game in terms of game play/design to build your skill/ability/character manipulation mastery, O and it drops 1k voices. Then head off to deep stone crypt the weapons in this raid also have some of the highest power curve in the game specifically Heritage and Succession. Good luck out their Guardian, you will need it.
1 RespuestaWarning: If you get hooked on Gambit (like me) REMEMBER TO TAKE BREAKS! Yeah you get rusty But doing Gambit 99% of the time makes you rage It's enjoyable in a weird fashion

3 RespuestasGlad you and some friends decided to play together! D2 is best with friends in my opinion. I have a few quick tips, I hope they help but let me know if you have any other questions. My advice is on PvP and Gambit, I’m an average player but hopefully this helps out a bit. Crucible - Experiment with different classes, weapons and abilities and learn how you like to play PvP - Don’t buy into the mentality of hating weapons/builds because they are meta, use them if you like and learn to play against them - Practice with intention, work on specific skills one at a time … like using cover, knowing where your team is and the enemy team, trying to learn how spawns work Gambit - Assign a teammate to defend against the invader with a specific loadout designed for that purpose, this player will try NOT to pick up a lot of motes, same with the invader - Have someone able to take out blockers fast, it will be their primary job. Can be same as Person designed to take out invader - Help out with add clear but don’t complete for motes, try to be aware of who is close to 5, 10, 15 - Leave the heavy spawn for your designated invader - Learn how to predict when and where enemy invaders will spawn - Play your life and don’t take risks if you have a lot of motes.

2 RespuestasA lot of people have already added stuff into here but I’ll put my 2 cents in. Story: As far as what to complete, just go with the storyline you’re interested in at the moment. Forsaken is a great story and I recommend that. If you focus on too much at once it’ll bog you down. Weapons: since you mentioned you’re mainly playing pve, I recommend damage perks like rampage, swashbuckler, along with either reloading perks (outlaw, feeding frenzy, or subsistence). Your primary is your workhorse. Heavy and special weapons are good with vorpal weapon. Gambit: scouts might not get love, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t viable. If you enjoy a scout, then use a scout! But pulse rifles, and snipers will help you out with your crave for range in gambit. Look for those invaders btw. They’ll take your gigantic mote lead and leave you with nothing. Overall: just have fun. The most fun I have playing is with my friends. Go for dungeons, go for exotics, chase the loot and don’t take it too serious. At the end of the day it’s just a game! Glad more people are joining up

Tricks for invading: When invading you must have a scout Why? Maps are insanely long ranged, if you have Servant Leader you are SET, roll doesnt matter, just use Servant Leader. How to invade 101: Keep distance! You aren't gonna survive if your enemy can see you on radar, Gambit invading is exactly the title, a strategical move to get an advantage. You have to pick targets off where they are weak at. Step 2 learn from mistakes So your enemy sniped you in the head 2 times in a row invading? Then get in real close to him, yeah it violates rule 1, but if that's their weak spot, do it. Always ambush enemies You aren't gonna win a 4v1 if they all know where you are. You have to ambush every one of them. When you spawn, start by attacking the nearest one with your scout, they don't know where you are at. Took them out? Awesome. Go for the one who has the most motes. Taking him out will secure an advantage. If they have no motes left to pick off, go for a team wipe to slow them down and install fear into them. Should you use heavy ammo? Unless you have the best moment in your life where a rocket launcher will get a team wipe, don't waste it in an invade. You can clutch a Primeval with that one rocket. How to get rid of pesky rat invaders Invaders will always spawn in one of three areas where enemy troops and high value targets spawn. Invaders will never spawn near allies, unless all spawns are being camped by allies. Check for allies in areas. Always use your radar! You can catch an invader off guard just because of your radar! Invaders will go off field after 30 seconds or they wipe your team (4 people) common knowledge Ok thats enough of stupid tips Lastly: Do not hog invades unless you can get 2 or more kills without a heavy weapon/carry the team to victory Only other reason is you're on step 6 of Malfeasance quest.

never play pve other than raids Only play elimination

some little tips; shared wisdom (once you form a clan with your mates), you can gain "shared wisdom" a little icon will show in your character screen next to your energy weapon. make sure you have it before you hand in completed bounties for max xp gains. ** also make sure you ghost is at level 6 for XP as well. Servant Leader (from Gambit) is a good scout rifle as well as Hung Jury (from Nightfalls) or even Vision of Confluence (from Vault of glass raid), but Dead Man's tale from the Presage dungeon on the tangled shore might be what you're looking for - 4th's time the charm or outlaw or subsistance are good perks to have on that for it reloads slooooow. you want armor stats above 62, but the highest I've seen is 69, 65/66 is the avg for a good high stat roll, Recovery is the most desired to have from 80 to 100(max) keep any weapon that drops with Vorpal some newer exotics (armor) will only drop from legendary lost sectors that must be run solo, be prepared to run a couple to a dozen to get the drop. Europa B15 is the easiest since the robot adds will help you clear as you free them. Stun champions then sword them. always visit the gunsmith and Ada-1 in the tower to collect much needed powerful mods to help your gameplay, refreshes daily after reset I would go for Hawkmoon (EDZ - dungeon), Dead man's tale (Tangled Shore- dungeon), for these can be drop with different rolls and are going away farm the crap out of Nightfalls for loot, XP, rare materials (cores, ascendant shards) ** equip vanguard prosperity mod on your ghost for more rewards at the end good luck, Wook

2 RespuestasForsaken campaign Director-Destinations- Tangled shore mission "Last Call"/ or the kiosk at the tower Shadowkeep Director-Destinations- Moon and start mission "A Mysterious Disturbance" Beyond Light, Director-Destinations-Europa-Variks to start.

Might as well form your own clan since you can get a few extra weekly engrams out of it. I’d recommend going through the Europa quests on at least one character to get the stasis subclass and aspects. Once it’s opened on one character, makes it quicker on other characters. It’s a grind but opens other activities (I find hunter & warlock stasis useful and fun but titan’s sort of meh). Raiding gives top tier rewards (as well as being awesome spaces) so it’d be worth it for the 4 of you to maybe LFG asking for Sherpa? Anyway, welcome!
