Trials is ruined again

Instead of keeping it as it was last week, which had record participation, you’ve made it partially playable. If you go flawless once, that’s it. Now it’s sweat city. The only people playing it now are the streamers and sweat lords. Look at the numbers from last week. Record participation means people wanted to do it. No one wants to do it after going flawless once.

The flawless pool need to come back so ppl who have a life outside of gaming can earn some good weapons and play without going vs sweats and pc players. My buddy's and I hate trials now because of how sweaty it is. Flawless should go vs flawless.

    • Trials was never going to keep that level of participation. It simply got a HUGE influx of people who were curious about the changes. NOW Bungie starts with the hard work of RETAINING as many of those players as they can, and holding off the skill creep that keeps killing off Trials. Bottomline, people need to understand that the days of strong players being able to avoid one another until the last 1 or 2 matches of a card are over. Bungie is turning it into more of a competitive ladder, which is (imo) a healthier and more sustainable model.

      • 700k+ played 254k+ went flawless.. 1st weeks are always bigger than 2nd weeks. Burnout is a fan favorite map, this weeks map sucks. People purposely threw this week to tank the numbers and ruin the starter pool. And it still went huge. Even with all the toxicity being thrown around. Hopefully bungie keeps trying to find the perfect balance. They are getting close.

        • It's not that bad. I managed to finish a flawless card in both the non and in the flawless pool. Had very similar stats and experience in both. Sure, in the flawless pool, ran into a few more sweaty stacks but that's to be expected. Overall, it was very playable in both pools.

        • News flash: it’s always been a sweat fest for low-mid skill players. Now higher skill players feel the burn too. I think the usual response is “git gud”?

        • To be entirely honest trials is in a good state, just because you went flawless and are now facing against equally skilled players doesn't mean anything my guy.

The ultimate problem is that the flawless pool promotes some good and bad things Good things -More people have the opportunity to get to the lighthouse(first time) -matches don't always feel sweaty beyond belief (until flawless) Bad things -sweaty flawless teams dodging the lighthouse to s**tkick lesser skilled players (They don't need the mats or guns) -average or above average players only able to get one character flawless(the great players gatekeep second and third attempts) -promotes people to avoid the lighthouse until last moment to stay in easier pool Either way you look at it there is no easy fix, but this definitely is not the right fix. I don't envy Bungie in their decisions because no matter what they choose someone will be mad. I do believe the changes prior to this week are mostly positive and received well. Hopefully they can make solution to this issue.

          • So currently, if you're not very good, you play the base level, grinding for rep to get engrams and the occasional win. For those that are good enough to go flawless, but not good enough to effectively compete in the flawless pool, I suggest creating a 'flawless pool' rep rewards tree. It would work just like the base level one does, but the tree would include 2 adept weapons (instead of two base level weapons) and the engrams you earn from grinding rep in the flawless pool would be adept weapon engrams. No one would handed adept weapons after a loss. But continuing to grind away in the flawless pool would reward you the same way grinding away in the non-flawless pool does, only with adept weapons (and possibly other exclusive trials items like emblems, shaders, etc.)

              • For me, it was easy last week, and it was easy this week. Although I much preferred the way it was setup last week, which a lot of people seem to either agree or disagree with. Just depends on everyone’s personal experience.

              • Trials in every prior season - Getting to 5 and 7 wins is a pipe dream for the average player Trials this season - "waaah why can't I solo queue my way to multiple flawlesses every week" This is by far the best Trials has ever been. Flawless is actually an achievable goal for many players now, doing it once per week should be more than enough for most. Yes, last week was better, but there should be no complaints if what we have this week becomes the standard.

              • I have never even sniffed flawless and right now I'm not even eligible for Trials. As a returning player, I still need to level up in Crucible a few more times first. So I realize my experience with the game is very different from the OP's. But I don't really follow the complaint. If the goal is to go flawless, you've succeeded. After that is achieved, isn't the next goal to be the best? Or at least the best you can be? Isn't playing against other good players the way to prove that, or to refine skills? This is a serious question. Not being glib or snide.

                  • No it’s great. All the players I know who got flawless played other cards after. The best ones farmed wins after getting flawless, and since they’re great, they managed to continue their streak until they got the rolls they wanted. The ones who act like they’re great or farmed their KD but in fact depend on others to win couldn’t hold their own past the 7 wins and got salty after, blaming the new flawless pool matchmaking for their inability to continue winning after being flawless. Serves them right. I also hear and read some crybabies who’d like to get an adept weapon for every win after being flawless even if they lose games. I mean come on, who can be so entitled to ask for a guaranteed adept weapon every 5min. Peasants. On the other side, having the option to exchange a 7 wins card whatever the number of losses after getting flawless once is great compromise. In fact having the option to exchange a 7 wins card for 2 adept weapons would motivate me more to grind the playlist solo after getting flawless, but the changes are all sound so far.

                    • Other guys who went flawless on first they can do content going flawless again solo (ZkMushroom) or carrying others don’t complain why do you complain. If you are good you are good, if you are bad you are bad. Trials is trials. If Bungie wouldn’t made any changes you wouldn’t be on the forum
