If the Trials of Osiris rework is as good as it looks on paper, then I will be looking forward to the planned rework for Iron Banner with great interest. Since that is some time coming, there is still time for feedback and suggestions to be given, so I've gathered a list of things that I would like to see in the Iron Banner, either in the rework or some time in the future.
1. Bringing back armor from D1 Iron Banner and Rise of Iron every so often to complement the new sets and to allow older styles to be used.
I already know there are more than a few people opposed to this one. The D2 armor sets aren’t bad by any means, but the design of the Iron Companion set and the Days of Iron so perfectly fits the aesthetic of the Lords of Iron for me. Obviously, there should be new armor sets too, so They shouldn’t be the main point of the revamp. The Iron Banner’s whole theme is about paying respects to the Iron Lords and remembering their past, so it’s only fitting that we should wear their armor.
Plus, Trials got it’s D1 armor back so I see no reason why IB should be the exception.
2. Multiple Iron Banner modes
This one’s likely the least controversial. Right now the only mode in Iron Banner is control, and while nice and simple just doesn’t add enough uniqueness or diversity to the mode to be it’s own thing. I would have additional modes such as King of the Hill, Rift, or even a special version of Mayhem to actually have a “Battle with no limits''. There could be constant rotations within the playlist, or each week that Iron Banner is active could host a different mode, so the gameplay would be unique to each event.
3. Addition of the Iron Temple as social space available during the Iron Banner.
I can’t be the only one that misses this place. We have all the assets needed for it already in D2 with the Vostok map. It just needs to be used. The Iron Temple could be the Banner equivalent of the Lighthouse, either being a special location that opens up where Saladin could be for the duration of Iron Banner or as a space exclusive to those who perform well or achieve a certain feat in the Iron Banner. There are also cute wolf bois, that should be reason enough.
4: An Iron Lord title
This is a must. Trials has its own title and therefore so should Iron Banner, and it’s more than needed for us to be recognized as one. Where is this “new generation of Iron Lords” Saladin spoke of in Rise of Iron?
To get around the narrative issue of D1 players having to re-earn their title as Iron Lord, Saladin could simply say something along the lines of “Prove to me you are still worthy of being called an Iron Lord” when we speak to him after obtaining the title and it would be acceptable.
5. The Iron Battle Axe as an exotic heavy weapon quest
Lastly, if we are to be Iron Lords, why not use their weapons as well? I always thought it strange Saladin gave us a sword in D1 when the Iron Battle Axe was the main iconic weapon of the Iron Lords. It would be so much more unique than normal melee weapons given that it’s an axe and could even have special functions inside Iron Banner similar to how Malfeasance has benefits to being used in Gambit. It’s also extremely hecking cool.
Thank you for reading. Rise of Iron has always held a special place in my heart for it being my proper introduction into the world of Destiny and I have never gotten over how cool it was to be a undying Space Crusader. I would be overjoyed if even half of these things I mentioned were to be added in the rework. Maybe Bungie has some better ideas than me, but I would be remiss if I didn’t at least give my feedback and hopes for this rework.

1 RespuestaNot really interested in mayhem banner and don't think D1 sets should return just cause trials did - reused content sucked then too, I'd like to see new stuff that has serious effort put in (hell take ideas from the community and give the chosen sets an emblem to the creator) The rest of the items would be excellent changes, I'd also like to have a system like how we have in raids for targeted loot farming

I agree with all of this

1 RespuestaI agree with all of this. Id love to run around with the battle axe as long as it wasnt as useless like malfeasence is. Something I want to add onto this is that with the new IB gear ive noticed that there is a special effect on the gear when a hunt is active and I love that keep doing that.

My suggestions: 1. Add more modes. Control is really f'ing old and the spawns are so easily manipulated (especially in IB where everyone plays like it's the Lighthouse match) that spawn invincibility (for 5 seconds or so) cannot possibly back fire. People can argue that's not fair, but I'd ask this; considering they have no intention of fixing the spawns, which is more unfair? Spawning in relatively the same place you just died in 5 times already, all of which had no hope of escape and no viable means of self defense (getting team shot and/ or killed by a super)? Or wasting your super on a guy who literally just respawned in your sights, who would be dead otherwise? Which is worse? Spawning when death is pretty much guaranteed, or being punished for playing in a way that's no better than cheating? 2. Add the D1 armors, Y1 was more basic, but still good, the Iron Lord armor looked awesome. 3. Maybe reprise a couple weapons like Nirwen's Mercy or Efrideet's Spear. 4. Engram focusing. If you have an equal chance of getting any specific item, there's an issue when not 1 drops from almost 2k tokens. 5. More loot incentives. Probably half the people who play it just get the bounties done and leave it at that. More IB ritual weapons like PoTS shouldn't be an issue. Maybe a pinnacle reward for every 4th or 5th package? Or an additional pinnacle bounty that resets daily.

I really like and agree with ideas 1,2,4and 5.

Iron banner clash.

3 RespuestasRise of Iron was around when I started playing Destiny as well, I think. I think all of your suggestions are good. I just wonder how the Iron Lord title would work and if it would be something that pretty much everyone could get or more like the flawless seal. It would most likely have to end up easier to get than Unbroken.

Most of your ideas are essentially recycling yet more D1 stuff which I’m against. However I think an IB title is well over due and like the idea of an exotic. Perhaps they could be linked? In general though the whole thing is really stale now and needs an overhaul not just a lick of paint.

An overhaul has been long past due, but it would also be nice if they created a better loot system other than the tokens, and add IB ships/sparrows. For me the incentive to run IB is next to nothing at all. It's hurry up and get the bounties done and over with and watch all the duplicates that will be dismantle from turning in tokens. Sorry, that last part isn't what I can call an incentive to play IB at all.
