I wish I could tell crow it’s probably for the better he doesn’t talk to savathûn. He looks up to our guardian and “Osiris” so it’s only natural that we would be there and support crow now that he doesn’t have Osiris. He looks up to us so he would trust our judgement. He probably just doesn’t like having two seemingly entitled awoken strangers setting up camp in the city telling him what he can and can’t do.

We're the ones dealing with the shattered realm and restoring the ley lines while rescuing techeuns. We're not a passenger.........we're the heavy lifter. We do the hard work while they all -blam!- amongst themselves.

i haven't paid close attention to the story for years, but knowing that edgelord is being abused gives me some satisfaction.

id never felt like this in d1, perhaps becuse it always felt like you were beinh sent out on a mission by someone else, you werent in a position to make decisions. But the characters now emphasise engaging with you as if youre a position of authority who can, so its sort of a problem when u cant respond. Id love if there were perhaps just a few dialogue options you can choose throughout a conversation, even if it has no bearing on the story outside of changing what voicelines u get to hear from a character. 3 voicelines and u cant change ur choice. cept by playing again on ur 2nd and 3rd character. Id be totally down for having some genuine decisions for the character which are decided by a vote among all players. Highest option being true and continued through everyone's story. But the writing team might be able to prepare a better story by just doing it themselves like they currently do. And some people could get annoyed when their character acts differently to how they want (personally, i dont really identify with my guardian much anyway so making them more of a character by saceificing self insert-ability is fine). Most important of all is that we get tricked by savathun. I dont want players making decisions if we're collectively smart enough to not get tricked. On the other hand, if we're dumb enough to fall hook line and sinker, actually making choices and getting the wrong ones would be sooo delicious.

It's not just this season, as the other guys are saying here. It's the fact that in Destiny we have only been watching a story (very convoluted until a few seasons ago) with no reactions or choices of our own. I only remember one time that we had to choose: it was whether to side with Dredgen or with the Vanguard, and even that turned out to be completely inconsequential & without any actual differences. It felt like a small experiment by Bungie that they decided to scrap, with us going back to being treated like only a viewer that shoots stuff. Don't get me wrong, I am starting to like the story & I am becoming more interested in it as I find it starts to get the cohesion it lacked. But this still doesn't change at all Bungie's choice of us as a simple viewer.

I'd be fine with us not speaking if the cutscenes had us actually do something, I genuinely don't remember the last time the player did something in a cutscene, except stare at the person who is talking.

Personally, I prefer it like this. We aren't the one true chosen Guardian who will save humanity. We're an army. This is an MMO and we all work together. Besides, chosen one stories are so overdone
