Bungie, either fix Iron Banner soon, or get rid of it altogether. I'm being mercied almost every match, then after completing it, quite often getting placed into another match already in progress, that gets mercied within 30 seconds. This is common occurrence too, not just me. The forums are quite loud with it.
For most of Destiny's existence, we've had Iron Banner. Literal years, and somehow its almost unplayable, and just keeps getting worse. We all have limits where we're just done. It just seems like the thing that caused it's complete failure has been sheer neglect of duties. Some of those failures are some of the most easily avoidable too; stupidly simple, common sense things that unfortunately, still haven't come to mind in development. It is what it is, but the next step is here and it needs to be taken so long as it is reasonable to do so.
Its just time to either fix it or at least put serious consideration into dropping it from the game entirely. You've had years to do this and simply chose to let it degrade. It tells me you just aren't invested in it anyway, so, why should we expect you to waste the time and effort? Why should we wait on it further? This is a really busy year, and I know we've been told its part of the process, but we've also heard it before. I know there's alot on your plate, I respect that, but some things just might not be salvageable. This might be one of them, but only you can decide that one for sure.
Before you go expanding things and giving all the shiny stuff, its important to make sure its functional and fix what is very wrong. I hate that the most common answer to "we have a very big problem here." is to just release new content. That doesn't fix the problem, it can actually compound the issues much worse.

2 RespuestasOr....hear me out....make the damn players have to do something to get the rewards. Sure the bounties and quests require you get kills and cap zones, but you can play like hot -blam!- and still get the bounties and quests done. Change it to something like "cap x amount of zones in a single match" "Power plays count as multiple matches". "Get x amount of kills in a single match" "kills during your team's power plays count for multiple matches". Then maybe we wouldn't have to suffer mercy after mercy because -blam!- roll into banner with dumb loadouts hoping to get carried.

I feel you. I started just leaving the matches everyone is leaving matches. When in the first minute I’m down 30-5 , I’m back to orbit. This makes it bearable for me, I just want a fair match

2 RespuestasIf matchmaking can't be fixed, an easy fix is making ib clash instead of control. Even if the teams are lopsided, it will take longer to win or lose and ppl can complete their bounties ot whatever they are trying to do. Who cares about a "wolf's howl!"

We don’t all have the same experience. I had a pretty enjoyable time in IB this season, probably the most enjoyable in recent memory. I think the openness of the sandbox right now contributed to this. There’s a lot of really viable and fun weapons in different archetypes to keep the gameplay feeling fresh, unlike the 120/Aggressive Shotgun meta for example. Iron Banner is not supposed to be like regular Crucible - here’s a quote from one of the original grimoire cards in D1 - “Lord Saladin, once Shaxx's mentor, runs the Iron Banner tournaments to strip Crucible weaklings of their illusions and prepare them for a battle with no concept of fair play.” I think this has influenced the design decision, particularly around the lockout mechanic. This isn’t Control - this is more like crush or be crushed. That’s not to everyone’s taste I imagine, but the concept is around a more extreme version of the existing crucible format. I think the current iteration of IB is a lot more forgiving in terms of reward acquisition than the original D1 version where you literally had to win or you got nothing at all, but it’s not without its own frustrations and issues, but on the whole I don’t feel it’s as bad overall as some make out.

Worst step for the season quest was supers, lol. Half the games it's over before you even earn one. Overpowered weapons and abilities have ruined pvp.

1 RespuestaI’ve won every game for the past 3 seasons, it’s easy enough already.

Other match types, such as standard Control, have the same mercy problem due to CBMM and the algorithm Bungie implemented. The TWAB posted a couple months ago stated they wanted to provide more hero moments without regard to a loss or win. This is bad design again. When getting stomped you are making no progress towards a quest or bounties.

5 RespuestasThen don't play it. Easy fix for you

It’s team balancing and stacks. I play solo. I respect players that have high KD’s playing solo or rumble. If you have to go in as a stack and then boast about your KD that’s pretty sad and pretty much a false KD. Watch the streamers. They pretty much wreck everyone in rumble. 1 v 1 takes skill. Team shooting doesn’t.

1 RespuestaIB only needs two changes: Shorter/removed hunts, and an umbral system. Pretty much everything beyond that comes to general content or general pvp balance.
-
2 RespuestasIt's due to the Hunt mechanic which locks the zones and gives triple score for kills.
