And no, it's not because we all want "easy wins," it's because, just like everyone who argues for sbmm, we want fair games.
That may not make sense to a lot of people who see skill based matchmaking as the system which would provide that kind of experience, but here's the issue with it.
When you're at the higher end of the playerbase, and I don't mean top 5% or top 10%, even top 20%, we're talking 30-50%, since this playerbase is as low as it is there is often not enough players in the same skill bracket as you to actually fill out your games with evenly skilled players.
So what happens is, since the game tries to adapt it's judgement of your skills on the fly, if you are in that higher tier and get a couple good games, it will very frequently put you in a team with others who haven't been having such good games, expecting you to be able to carry them, while often not giving such a handicap to the other team.
In this system of skill based matchmaking, the bottom 50-70% of the playerbase will be fine, most only care for crucible to go in and do bounties anyways, and when they don't there will be plenty of players in that same general skill bracket to consistently give them fair games. The same is not true for the higher tiers. It is ABYSMAL. Sometimes unplayable.
And understand, this isn't an argument for CBMM or the removal of SBMM, that would just move this problem from one part of the playerbase to another. I think we should have matchmaking options, just like so many other games have, just like halo had.
We should have the option to say whether we would prefer to be matchmade based on connection or skill. This wouldn't completely destroy the problem, but it would be a good way to start, and it's miles better than this constant shift between sbmm and cbmm that only achieves one side screaming and getting the matchmaking system changed to their personal preference AGAIN. Like seriously, how many times has it gone back and forth now? More than I can remember, and it's absurd.

3 RespuestasIt’s really fairly simple. They do not want fair and matched competition. They want to continue to “own” the bell-curve middle and lower sector population of players to facilitate their egos. Nothing more. Any “technical” or “gameplay quality” argument they try to make us purely a cleverly disguised smoke-and-mirrors tactic of deniability and/or delusion.
