I'm gonna be a cashier at a Burlington in my area (though tasks and hours per day may change a little depending on how much activity is going on). I'm starting on the 24th. $9 starting wage. It's not much, but it's a start.
Hopefully I don't have to deal with a Karen (or someone along those lines) day 1. Given the whole asperger's situation, that would not end well.

Good luck! Hope you don’t have to deal with any Karens. I feel ya, I’m about to start searching for my first job. I have bad social anxiety so I’m a little scared but hopefully I can find something where I can function.

Coming straight from a 13h work day I'll tell you to find a career you like. There isn't a job that isn't shit in some way day to day, outweight your pros and cons and pick your poison.

Congrats. Your first couple of days will be chaotic.
Not to scare you, but after those first days, you’ll find it very boring.
The money you will get is nice to have. My first (and current) job is a groundskeeper at the hospital in my town. During the summer, I work full time pulling weeds and doing other odd tasks. During the school year, I work for 2 hours after school doing random janitor stuff.

Congrats and good luck with any Karens you encounter.
Someone should develop some kind of Karen repellent, I'd buy enough to fill a supermarket!
4 RespuestasCongratulations guardian! Karens are EVERYWHERE so dont be discouraged. Kill them with kindness and take the high road whenever possible. My first job was waaaaayyyyy back when. Minimum wage was $4.10/hr. Dang, im old.

Congrats! The general rules for my employees are : Show up on time, be respectful to everyone on the crew, and you can only complain if it’s funny. If I get that I can committed enough to teach anyone the job. Use to work in the service industry. Learned you have to have a short term memory a lot of the time. Some people you’ll honestly never forget, some just flat out suck. You just can’t let a mad customer have control over how you feel. Good luck! Think about investing some small amounts here and there.

Good job on getting the job!

Condolences for your loss of innocence.

Congratulations. Everyone has to begin somewhere. And a cashier job where you have to deal with the general public should hopefully build character, and teach empathy for your fellow human beings.

A start indeed! Mine was at a skating rink when I was 15. Then I worked at Sonic for 4 years as a cook and skating carhop (indeed). Keep on working and the earlier you start saving, the better.

Well done!!! My first job was working at a nursery/landscaping business for minimum wage ($8.25 an hour back then, if I recall correctly). The next year I got a position at Shopko making $9.25 an hour. Job after that paid $10 an hour. Recently concluded an internship that paid $14.50 an hour, and am trying to get a new job that starts at $16 an hour. Point is, work hard and realize that the most valuable thing you can get from your first job is not money, but a good reference. Use that to secure a better job when you move on, and things will snowball from there. Congrats again, and best of luck to ya!
Sorry, all out of salt.
Nice! Ya gotta start somewhere.
