Shaders are valuable to this game, really valuable. It's an important aesthetic choice that allows us to express ourselves our individuality, much better than what other games can do, cough cough, Outriders. Being able to mix and match colors is extremely fun and satisfying, the wonder of searching through collections and previewing shaders to find that perfect color is a beautiful feeling I never get bored of. So when Bungie increases the cost of shaders from 40 to 300 bright dust, how am I supposed to get that feeling, that satisfaction?
This comes in hand with many shaders only obtainable through eververse engrams or the small selection of shaders sold every week, some of which are not obtainable anymore. Acquiring shaders is a lot of work and pain for such a simple aesthetic choice. How am I supposed to buy amour sets, ornaments, emotes, etc. when I now have to cough up 260 more bright dust for a shader? Getting bright from seasonal challenges, the season pass, and vendor challenges isn't enough. This season I peaked around 12000 bright dust doing seasonal challenges and the season pass. Most of which has burned away buying ornament pieces. Bright dust is too valuable and too scarce.
Now, the reasoning given for this price hike is shaders is unknown, they are still a one-time purchase, but yet they're increasing the cost? Once you acquire a shader, it's yours forever, you're just buying multiple versions of it for insignificant amounts of glimmer and shards. But with this change, we no longer have to buy shaders constantly but were still paying glimmer for it anyway. The way I see it, the new system is asking for more bright dust from us while reducing the need for insignificant amounts of plentiful resources.
The problem with this change is that it seems to be independent to the other aspects of the game, players have to balance their choice between lots of aesthetic choices, and this balance becomes much harder by increasing the cost of something pretty simple. I shouldn't need to do 30 repeatable bounties for a single shader or pray I get a shader from an engram. Shaders should be a simple, convenient aspect of the game, I shouldn't use my precious bright dust on it.
Right now I have 2700 bright dust, saving up for the titan guardian games set, so by the time the next season comes, ill be dry on bright dust, so with this increase if there's a cool shader available next season, I would have to choose between that shader, an emote, or an ornament. Seasonal challenges come weekly so bright dust from there is slow and season ranks is a grind in the beginning while the vendor challenges give very little bright dust so I'm spending even more of my time getting what should be a fun, simple way of adding character and variation to my armor.
Bungie, if your listening, keep the price at 40 Bright dust, or the very least make the price hike smaller. Anyway, thank you for listening to me ramble. Cheers.
P.s
Some of this information may be incorrect, I'm writing this off of memory here, like some shaders being unobtainable like Imperial opulence or the 8 bounty challenge giving little bright dust(150 or so). Apologize for that stuff but hope my point comes across.

No its not. Can easily make 1000 or more per week on one character 3000 of you play them all.
