will there be an explanation of why we’re the chosen one?
i’ve wondered this a lot. sure, you could just say we’re the player character and blah blah blah. but lore wise... do you think there will ever be a solid explanation as to WHY we’re so special?
we’ve killed more gods than any other guardian. we’ve destroyed the black heart without getting corrupted. the vex have a hard time predicting us. i mean, remember what the nine said about us?

we are quite the anomaly! but... why?
there HAS to be a reason behind how we’re able to just perform the impossible, right?
i’ve had a couple theories, but most of them are kinda out there and ridiculous with no evidence supporting it. could be we’re just hot stuff! but that seems a little anticlimactic. i believe there’s something more.
so what do you think? any of you lore masters have any ideas?

Everything in game is a result of us, but we will not be anything other than infinity. What I mean by this, is that while the universe in Destiny will continue on, we will not be joining it in the end. That is our self-sacrifice. We are the Guardian aboard the Almighty in a sense, but after the Almighty crashes we return to the beginning of the journey. We exist as a Perfect Paradox.(bootstrap paradox) We shouldn't exist and it's why we were the only Guardian capable of using the Sundial to the extent that we did. We exist because of it. Remember the coffin. but we can exist in any human form we want but the timeline of events that proceed are the same. We dont have a name, we dont have a past. We just exist because we allowed ourselves to in the future, before we did in the past. We have no origin point, which is why our Guardian's race/gender is interchangeable. This is our Destiny. To become victorious and defeat the clashing between the Darkness and the Light once and for all, but we must sacrifice ourselves and start our journey over and over again for the universe to continue on without us. Every instance of us failing is just a scrapped timeline, which resets and allows us to retry again and again until there's a successful timeline where the final moments from where complete our mission and become the thing that began this journey in the first place. The fact we are even on this journey to begin with means we were successful in the mission we have yet to and have already completed. This is why things are credited to us regardless if we actually did them in the past.

You stepped back in time to save Saint, who called you his special guardian who would slay Crota and help lead the fronts to reclaim the system. Cayde thought this was funny and, upon seeing some of your accomplishments (pre Dark Below) nicknamed you Crota’s End. You were molded to fit this role that you yourself cause to be created. IE, saint was to be saved all along, to create you, the Perfect Paradox. Also, once you do one great thing, you get more power and trust, resulting in it snowballing. That and it would be pretty boring to play second fiddle to other saviors of the system.

There are multiple times where characters break the fourth wall (for example, there’s an Ahamkara that speaks to [i]us as a player[/i], not our Guardian. I can’t remember which Ahamkara exotic it is, though). And I have no evidence, other than what I just said (so I don’t really believe this), but it’s still kind of an interesting idea regardless.

4 Respuestas<We killed Oryx and the Heart. That's what gained us the Traveler's favor. Since we got the Traveler's favor in the Red War, now the Winnower is interested. The Vex can barely simulate any Guardian, we're just stronger with our Light and so they have an even more difficult time. It'd be like if they tried to simulate Osiris or Ikora. It takes the Vex thousands of years Network-time to adapt to a single Guardian's Light. The Nine are curious about us because both Gods of Light and Dark want us.>

2 RespuestasThink of all the times your guardian fell in a darkness zone. All the strikes, all the raid mechanics, all the quests. Those are failed timelines. Timelines where your guardian wasn't the chosen one, at least not forever. Destiny has infinite timelines. In each one, there is a different "Chosen Guardian". That is why, canonically, every player simultaneously is and isn't the chosen one. You just so happen to play in the timeline where you are the chosen one, probably because most players would be unhappy when they died in their first darkness zone if it read "Sorry, you weren't the chosen one. Better luck next time".

5 RespuestasBecause out of every Guardian, SOMEONE has the to be the strongest and we're it. Also, the Traveler just chose us. Might be related to how valiantly we died which could be explained in future Destiny media.

Well I’m not sure how many people think or even know about this one but I think that when we got our light from the shard of the traveler that was cast off after being attacked by the darkness the light and dark all combined into a very powerful neutral or ultra powerful force in the shard and when we took it we went beyond light or dark and either controlled or became a paracausal force like light and dark, it would explain how we were able to wield light and dark but also become one of the most powerful guardians ever, also might just be because video games but we can still survive after being killed in a darkness zone

Bungie have made some hard content sometimes like no cheese riven or oryx in d1 it's because of that. We have succeeded in those thing is the player so are character is the reflection of are succes if we don't do the next raid the story stop and we fail this is why we are the chosen one

It’s the fact that ew have succeeded were everyone else failed. We’ve out performed the most famous guardians in under a year! When it took them endless years to achieve their fame and power.

Maybe we got dosed with both flavors before dying? I mean they reallllly go out of the way to keep the Collapse a mystery. I would for there to be a reason besides laziness but who knows with Bungie. Or the ole ancient humanity theory and we are the last descendent from a special bloodline. Though how that would work for Exos is tough. I remember in D1 the Ghost mentioned it has trouble understanding what we are thinking and how little we talk. Something about that seemed curious but like so many other curiosities, it may have been abandoned. If it could be that we were Risen to be a little more...altered, mentally, to keep us better focused on the job. We are practically a robot, unlike almost every single Guardian mentioned. Finding that out would be a nice plot twist. Sadly there very may have well been a canon reason back in D1 with the original storyline. They’ve changed it, whatever it may have been, so who knows. It is easier, from a writing standpoint, to not have a special reason. So given how they always take the easy route... I doubt there is one anymore. We may have just been lucky.
