Was sbmm accidentally turned back on?

Every game I've played the last few weeks feels super sweaty and idk what it is. A lot of pvp streamers seem to also feel this way and idk what's going on, I can never just sit back and relax while playing because everyone seems to be playing like they entered a $6000 tournament. Has anyone else had super sweaty games too?

  • Nope. The removal of sbmm ends in this result every time.

  • Simple just like last season cbmm killed the player pool and is doing the same once more. It's funny how players say destiny pvp is suppose to be competitive yet demand it be connection based.

  • Havent played recently, but I guess CBMM is still on, but the playersbase of crucible got smaller, so the chance you get better players is higher than usually. As I played there were also some 2-4 players, who were abusing point and click on MnK and felwinter, but they dont "tryhard", they just testing new builds. Idk CBMM sucks imo, but maybe because I am "bad" and cant stomp the pubs.

  • I feel this way too, the teams I match against when I’m solo queuing are much easier than the teams I match when I’m playing with my friends.

  • Peak D2: whining on the forum that you had a fair fight in crucible instead of chilling while you pub stomp noobs.

    • I hope they have. I love reading posts by the PVP community about how it is endgame material and is supposed to be hard. But soon as they are matched with a hard team, they cry because they can't relax and kill blueberries that are sitting there saying "this isn't fun. Every game is so sweaty". Suck it up big bad pvp player.

    • Crucible can stomp/mercy itself into the DCV for all I care. It's built for the top players, and uses anyone less than Unbroken as cannon fodder. I should NEVER be matched against 6 stax of Flawless sweats with Summoners & Astral Horizons.. yet, that's where I end up. So stick it. Have it & choke on it. And with any luck, it will collapse under the weight of its own ineptitude & sloppy code. All it does is breed toxicity & stifle PvE

    • This is a broken record if I've ever heard it. Every time the player pool drops, high tier players swear sbmm has been reinstated. What you fail to realize is that nobody likes being mercied repeatedly. Luke Smith even said as much the last time sbmm was actually reinstated. Then he gave the middle finger to the lower tier players again by doing a complete 180 and removing it again last season. Dude can't pick a lane to save his life. Low tier players have a snowballs chance in hell of improving against top tier. Saying thats the only way to improve is like saying the only way a high school football team can improve is by playing an NFL team. It's absurdity to thinkotherwise. In cbmm, the only people "chillin and relaxing" are the pub stompers, cause I can assure you, those on the receiving end are not.

      • Nope, this happens every time they get rid of sbmm. Bottom tier quits. This creates a new bottom tier, who also quits. This continues until all you have playing is the top 20-30%. Ive been playing a lot the last few weeks and Im starting to notice is more and more. Just like with trials, if the lower 95% have no reason to play, they wont. People need to put away their egos and start asking for whats best for the game.

        • I know you’ll probably never see this post. The pvp player base has gotten low, despite what you might be thinking. Every week, the pvp population drops. The game is forced to “cut corners,” with connections in order to prevent you from waiting in orbit for like 10 minutes. It’s more likely that lower tier players will stop playing then higher tier. As a result, matching with players with HIGHER SKILL and FAR worse connections is FAR more likely. Also, you have a far greater chance of facing stacks CONSISTENTLY. The problems with crucible are the following: 1: Low tiers give up easily It doesn’t take noobs like me to stop playing after consistent mercies (note: I say noobs like me, but I am still playing like, 20 games every session to be honest. I might not be the best example). 2. Rewards (important): The only 2 types of crucible rewards this season are trials weapons and the Stars and shadows pulse rifle. High impact pulses are not exactly meta in pve... While it can get rolls like feeding frenzy and kill clip, the chance of getting that is EXTREMELY low as there is a HIGHER perk pool then ANY other weapon to date. I have that roll, but I’ve yet to get a killing wind/kill clip roll for pvp. Pve mains don’t want to farm this pulse since pvp is so difficult for them to get an actual pve roll and it’s not meta in pve. And trials is not worth the effort for virtually ANYONE not in the top 1%, even for 1 piece of loot. In fact I FIRMLY believe that even if trials had the BEST LOOT IN THE GAME locked behind it, no one would play still, just because how unobtainable and difficult the loot is to get and how people would just not bother when they realize they can’t get the adept loot. Trials population would fall DRASTICALLY quickly. Even if they rained down trials loot, once a person gets the non adept god roll, they STOP PLAYING FOR GOOD. Trials will never have a healthy population. 3. Stacks: Stacks a very common in crucible. There is 2 big problems with solos vs stacks The first is stacks coordination and comms. For some insane reason, you have to actually manually turn on voice comms when you start a crucible game. Why? If people don’t want to talk to others, they can just go into party chat. But people who do communicate can help their team, but since no one turns on game chat, well, they get stomped. The second is more difficult to weigh, separation problems If their was a solo playlist for everything, the population would be SO split, loading times for both sides might last MUCH longer (especially stacks). There would be so little population within SO MANY different crucible playlists, it actually may not be sustainable. The biggest problem with crucible is simply the fact it’s population is just far too low in ALL aspects to be sustainable, for both sbmm and cbmm. It can be argued that either one simply just cannot work correctly JUST BECAUSE the population is far too low. I really don’t know any possible solution to salvage this at this point. The damage has been done. This is simply the problem with crucible today. Sorry for this long post, but this is just my 2 cents.

          • Happens every time the playercounts dip. Pretty much the only people playing PvP are the proper PvP-heads. It will be a little sweatier than usual.

          • No sbmm is not there, me blueberry and many other casuals, newbies are just simply not playing cause is just a massacre and not fun. So only try hards and streamers are playing. So you are playing peers. If you don’t enjoy that imagine how is it for us.

            • The amount of players in PVP is shrinking. According to a streamer named lucky in a recent YouTube video I watched. Lucky said More people played Gambit last weekend than trials. Made me laugh. I forget what the actual numbers.

            • Well just like when warmind dropped it drove players away with cbmm so your likely playing people who only play crucible. They could go back to shadowkeep release but im sure certain players would complain then too.

              • I know this will sound blunt but pvp has always been sweaty in general, i like to be matched against sweaty players cause it pushes my skill boundaries, but thats me, i always like a challenge but i know how you feel when a match feels like you cant even press a button because you get supered or sniped on respawn, that's just the way destiny is i guess 🤷
