I think I would disagree because Ace at least kept at least one aspect of it's originality- Firefly. I would also argue that Ace's identity preserved despite the changes made. Hawkmoon is nothing like how it used to be. [spoiler]correct me if I'm wrong about the Ace abilities, I personally never used it, as I've always just played Warlock[/spoiler]

Ace never had firefly, it’s exotic perk was “return 1 bullet to the mag for each precision hit (or kill idk)”
