It’s not a burst damage weapon, it’s a mob clear weapon. There’s plenty of good DPS weapons. I think it’s cool that this is something a bit different.

  • The same can be said for EoT there are tons of other ad clearing weapons that dont take a heavy slot

  • The thing is, a lot of endgame teams are using the kinetic or energy slot for boss damage these days. Look at the new raid boss, the meta is slug shotguns and a divinity user for boss damage. Swords are still the go to for a lot of bosses, but with us having a lot of diversity in burst damage dps now, in a lot of cases it leaves the heavy slot free for whatever. Why do you think anarchy has been one of the best heavys ever since release, even though its out dpsd by tons of other heavys? Because heavys arent always for dps. If we can use our energy slot for damage, the heavy slot can be used for utility and super fast add/room clear. Thats where guns like anarchy, mgs, and rockets fit in.

  • Its used because it can damage a boss passively without having to have it equipped It takes around 10 seconds to fire 2-3 shots thats not burst damage thats good compared to a slug shotgun that will deal more damage in that small amount of time I know what teams are using and EoT is a rare thing to use every run ive done with someone who has the gun wont use it because it sucks for ALL boss damage

  • Then they have false expectations from it, because its not a boss dps weapon. Im already seeing it being used by speedrunners for clearing out whole rooms of adds in higher endgame

  • There are much better ad clear options that dont take up a heavy slot and leave it open for a legendary heavy that can be used for boss dps

This "take up a heavy slot" line, is an outdated concept. The energy and kinetic slots do the most damage for a lot of fights now, leaving the heavy slot free. The heavy slot hasnt been that important in the endgame meta for nearly 2 years

  • If you think is a mob clear weapon you are sorely mistaken.

  •
It’s not a burst damage weapon, it’s a mob clear weapon.
Which is why no one will use it. That is not the game's rhythm of combat. Someone at Bungie seems determined to force people to see heavy weapons as a "crowd control". But when you do that you kneecap yourself when it comes to damaging bosses. ...and in any sort of difficult content, no one is going to make that trade off. Also its unrealistic. Rockets (in real war) are anti-vehicle/anti-armor/anti-structure weapons. They are not designed to be anti-personnel weapons.

You dont raid or play endgame, so how would you know?. You make assumptions based on 0 experience as always. You dont even own the gun you're discussing 😂. The boss damage meta is slug shotguns, leaving weps like eys of tommorow as badass mob clearing weapons that will wipe out a room full of adds in an instant. Your lack of endgame experience hasnt made you privy to the fact that kinetic and energy shottys wreck bosses, leaving your heavy slot free for whatever.

@Wayne712 If its for mob clear i dont really see how this is much different from other exotics like deathbringer. Its not as if this is something new and the reduction in damage shouldnt be as significant as 50%. If this remains the same trust me no one, and I mean no one will use this in endgame content such as njghtfalls or raids and itll be just like Tarrabah. Why would people even bother to use this for ad clear when you have legendaries like falling guillotine or primaries that do that same job.

  • Well they work in different ways... Eyes covers a much wider area and has super aggressive tracking but not as much damage per rocket. There’s not a whole lot interesting they can do with rocket launchers really.

  • Thats not the problem. The problem is that Bungie doesn't WANT them to be seen as boss DPS weapons...and that is a misguided notion. If Bungie doesn't want people using hand-held ARTILLERY for its proper purpose....then simply take them out of the game. I'd rather play a game without rockets, than play one where they've been nerfed into the ground and are functionally unusable.

They were the only show in town for boss damage at multiple points in Destiny history and they will be again
