Trials of Osiris - Player pool

I think it would be way more enjoyable for less PvP skilled players that if once you had gone flawless in a week you were in a seperate player pool for the rest of the week with other flawless players. It would give less skilled PvP players a chance and then those who are great at trials more challenging and matches more akin to their skill level, especially seeing as they’ve already been flawless. Just an idea.

    • So, just wait until the end of the weekend to take your stacked team in and walk to flawless. How do people not see how this could be abused? Resetting cards is a problem because you basically are forcing lower "tier" players to match people who are manipulating the system. The only thing that will fix Trials is literally to make it so rewarding that just playing regardless of winning can get you really good unique gear that can ONLY be gotten in Trials. And, to change that gear regularly. And, also, rewarding people who go flawless with increasingly cool gear that is reserved for flawless wins. And, to bring the player population way up. Until all those things are true, no matchmaking system is going to make a difference. There's only 25k players in Trials and a lot of streamers are bailing. So now you don't even have people helping people get flawless and you have to play people who do recoveries and they don't care who they hurt as long as they get the cash. They had it right when they just removed it. And I have serious doubts they can bring it back to life.

          That would keep the Paid Flawless Carries out of Trials, and that cannot happen. If that happens, Trials would be a wasteland. [spoiler]I always hated Trials, and I think Paid Carries should be permabanned [/spoiler]

            It needs to track on your account, like in the Triumphs for Trials wins and flawless runs. That's how you separate tiers. My suggestion. 0 wins - [i]Tier 7[/i] 14 Wins - [i]Tier 6[/i] 28+ Wins - [i]Tier 5[/i] 1 Flawless - [i]Tier 4[/i] 3 Flawless - [i]Tier 3[/i] 5 Flawless - [i]Tier 2[/i] 7+ Flawless - [i]Tier 1[/i] It doesn't solve the issues of people using burner accounts. For legitimate players however, it's account tracked and not card tracked meaning that people new to Trials will always match against people who are also new, and so on throughout the Tiers. It would have to track to the highest scored person in the Fireteam to stop carries. Or to still allow carries, they have to go straight into the +7 Flawless Tier 1 matches because the Sherpa is multi-flawless. Obviously the card still matches your games for you, but if you're on win 3 (and only have won 3 games on your account), you'll be playing against someone else who has likely had less than 14 wins (and no Flawless runs) so it's a fairer match and you're definitely not going to match against anyone who has gone Flawless multiple times. If you're sandbagging and not going Flawless on purpose, you'll get put into Tier 5 in the 28+ wins category to play against other weapon farmers. I know Trials isn't for casuals, but it does need to be more inviting to all players, including casuals. Casuals at best could get 1 Flawless because as soon as they go up to Tier 4, they're playing against other Flawless teams with 1 or 2 Flawless runs making it much harder. If they manage 3 Flawless runs, then they're now in Tier 3 and so on. This way everyone can have a go at Trials and not get stomped instantly. It's a solid strategy.

              Ive never gone flawless, 4 wins is the most ive ever gotten on a card. I'm fine with it. I dont need there to be an easy path to get to the lighthouse. That would cheapen the experience. I dont think Trials is meant for you. Its not meant for everyone.

              • It would be nice if emotes forced you to go through the whole emote and swords were banned in trials as well and maybe make capture point either spawn quicker or I hate to say it have heavy every round people play so passive it's boring as paint drying and having both incentives to push would speed up the pace and force teams to push.

              • A bit of sbmm is needed I think if a team can get seven wins in a row against similar bracket of skilled players then who cares if they went flawless, apart from the elitist but there's account recovs, cheaters on pc, it's already a shitshow, it either dies and no more trails ever or folks keep open minded.

Just an idea.[/quote] Best option based on the declining numbers is to just can it , its only really hurting the game and wasting the limited dev resources at this point .

                Your idea is awesome. It allows the recoveries and streamers to not gatekeep. It gives the actual community a chance to get flawless. And it removes the hopeless feeling 99% of the community has which is why the population is so low. Let streamers who play 8-15 hours a week do carries against each other and they can fight recovs and cheaters in the own personal hell. Let people who want to enjoy the mode outside of the carry culture do so. I’m sure cheaters and recovs will still be in the normal playlist but it would greatly reduce the numbers to allow another 10-15% of the community to go flawless. Which would encourage more to play. And perhaps with the loss of hopeless feeling people may actually play trials instead of cheating, waiting in a lobby for a carry or paying a recov. Carry culture killed trials and is a cancer to this game.

                      Honestly, people need to get their heads out of their asses and realize that Trials desperately needs more players right now. The gatekeeping, the poor loot system, the matchmaking, everything about Trials right now is terrible and the game mode has only been in the decline since the very moment it was brought back. It’s like these people want Trials to die again just so they got bragging rights (like there was anything to brag about to begin with : / ). Fix the loot system, fix the matchmaking, just make a system where everyone can be happy and benefit to some extent.

                        • I’m on board with this but I doubt Bungie will anything but make Trials worse. Third time around and it’s one of the worst, they don’t learn.

                        • my idea. change trials into a contest or championship system. all players do their best every match and rewards are determined by rank position at end of week. rewards are not for singular positions , rather tiers. number of wins ... flawless ..... cards....ratio...... same number of tokens given for every match. can be spent on packages/ alternate packages available after flawless. with leaderboards to show standing.
