Can you do well without the META
Just a simple question. There are some who believe they can but they actually cant because their loadouts never change.
Its either you got the skills or not.
I am not talking about Quickplay either. I am talking about all the playlist and this includes PVE.
Also does being a stacked teams or group of players using the META considered skillful??
The reason I asked is because I was using off META as usually and I got T-bagged by someone who was running with 2 others and all they did was teamshoot. All had some sort of mobile enchancing leg armor with a META weapon and shotgun.

1 RespuestaSince the removal of SBMM I’ve noticed a lot more diverse weapons and subclasses being used. I think it’s been great. I used have to rock meta weapons in crucible last season. Now I can use pretty much anything. Obv still keep the meta for conp and trials. That’s what they’re for

5 RespuestasNope not a chance and that’s all because of the change to CBMM. You never know game to game the skill of your opponents with this change so you better equip the meta just in case you get Little Johnny and his 5 buddies who are out KD farming. CBMM limits weapon choice.

Me and my friends are fairly good pvp players and we got absolutely stomped by a team using completely random weapons like bows etc. It's definitely possible to be good without meta. Obviously Meta helps average pvp players but good pvp players can be versatile and use a range of weapons.

3 RespuestasFor PvE and PvP Meta doesn’t mean easy to use or not skillful, just the most used so I think you can for sure use the meta and be skilful or not very skilled - your weapons don’t dictate this. PvP people will always get salty when they lose and find excuses (eg they were using better gear than me, they were using something cheesy etc etc) but it doesn’t really matter. At the end of the day, if it’s in the game and not disabled then it’s fair game and players shouldn’t be categorised as good or bad for using them. ‘Try-hard’ maybe but crucible is about trying hard for some people whether you use ‘good’ or ‘bad’ weapons and that’s fine by me. PvE is the most interesting one though. So much is outside the ‘optimal’ stuff but it easily good enough to use. It is just if something gets the slot as ‘best’ such as Izinagi’s, mountaintop etc then players think they have to use them. At the height of the mountaintop/recluse/swarm setup for Crown of Sorrow, I always chose to run Outbreak, Loaded Question, Wendigo. Even though I had access to all the other weapons, my set up was better for the encounter as a whole in my opinion. We would still 2 phase the boss using Wendigo and Outbreak but Loaded question would enable really fast add clear to give you time to get your crystals and not wipe. A Wendigo could blind the wizard and ogre that spawned even if it was immune to you - making carrying new people through the encounter and overall survivability better. I think PvE becomes extremely stagnant (more so than PvP) if you’re using the same weapons and builds all the time.

1 RespuestaYes, seeing the same weapons again over and over can get frustrating, but why call out people who only use Meta? Why would anyone want to potentially handicap themselves against others using the best guns in the game? People want to either win, or get things done quick. So that's why they use Meta. Sure, using different things can be fun...to a certain point. I'm not tryna take hours trying to kill a raid boss with Fighting Lion or something along the same lines. I'd much rather have a stacked team with the best weapons so we can smash a whole entire raid in the shortest time possible. Does that mean I'm a bad player? No. Does that mean there's others who are bad players without meta? Yes. But bashing on what people like to use is kinda silly. Let them have their fun. T-bagging though is still toxic, but don't let it get to you.

Ive mostly focused on using off meta weapons, maybe I’ve used one out of those weapons like revoker because I want to win without putting in much work. Cant go wrong with free ammo lol. Ive done fairly well without using meta weapons, its really hard but its doable. After a while though I do get burned out, why should I put in double the work in order to compete with meta scrubs? If you cant beat them, join them. You will be shocked how good you are at the game if you have always used off meta weapons and suddenly touched the meta.

You totally can use off meta weapons. It just take a little time to get used to the play style. Succeeding with off meta stuff is more fun than using meta stuff, by far. Also, if I get teabagged in destiny I just laugh. I find it hilarious when someone takes quickplay that seriously.

For a long while, I was carrying a 3.00 for D1 Trials while using loadouts that weren't on par with enemy loadouts, and posting on the forums about how everyone using the top meta was a scrub. I wonder when you'll realize how useless and meaningless it all is in the end - just like I realized. Can cut me some slack though - I was only 15 lol[/spoiler]

11 RespuestasMeta doesn't even matter in PvE because this game is outrageously easy. With that being said while switching it up is fun in pvp I actually love the meta and its a lot more fun when everyone in the lobby is using some sort of meta loadout. Just my opinion though.

1 RespuestaI like to experiment with off-meta builds in crucible. Not necessarily bad builds, still mostly shotguns hand cannons snipers, but just stuff that isn’t used as much. Different subclasses and exotics too. For a long time I used austringer and emperors courtesy in a meta where spare rations mindbenders was the go to and had a lot of fun, still have 4000 crucible kills on that austringer. Using tarrabah with peacekeepers on titan is a lot of fun. Using well of radiance with lumina and a sniper is one of the most fun loadouts I’ve ever used and has gotten me some of my highest kill games strangely enough.

3 RespuestasEditado por elite9Jay: 6/16/2020 3:07:03 PMFor me no, I cannot use my favorite hand cannons, and my hammerhead because of auto rifles, what’s the point of having hammerhead when you have things like suros, gnawing hunger, summoner, and galliard, and any 600 rpm autos around that kills faster then it, what’s the point of hand cannons when you have auto rifles that are way easier to use, have better range, and kill faster, you also have scout rifles which do the same thing as hand cannons but have way better range, you also have pulse rifles with their obnoxious flinch, and what’s the point of supers if somebody can just turn the corner with a shotgun and immediately kill you and for some reason it counts even though you weren’t able to actually use your super Edit: to add to the hand cannons you also have side arms which are way easier to use than hand cannons and things like last hope or last dance feel like that have no recoil and melt in crucible

3 RespuestasGraviton Lance, Exit Strategy, and Peace Keepers has been a fun build for me. [spoiler]GL has HiddenHand, making headshots real easy. Exit Strategy has more range on an SMG than what I though. PK makes movement faster with ES equipped.[/spoiler]
