If you are sunsetting weapons to avoid power creep, why are you giving us the exact same guns with the exact same rolls but a higher power cap.
I have a Last Hope sidearm, its not the ultimate de-facto god-roll, but I like it, it has the perks that I value (QuickDraw, MultiKillClip) so I masterworked it and have been using it in Strikes, Seraph bunkers, Nightfall etc..
It has a kill tracker too, so I can see my history with this weapon. It’s mine.
So if you release a new Last Hope next season, I might get the same roll, I might not.. but why would I bother masterworking it? And building up that history and connection for it just to be trashed again..
and you said you aren’t forcing us to delete old weapons we love (have history/good memories with) but with limited vault space can I keep around an old favourite with 5000 kills that is the EXACT same gun as a NEW higher light version?
If I am still playing I will just use whatever drops, until the next highest thing drops, but it feels like this may be the end for me..
Destiny is NOT an MMO, the characters we play don’t have their own stats or skills, my warlock literally IS the gear that i equip on him, the weapons and Armor stats dictate how he moves, shoots, looks and overall feels.. you are not just sunsetting weapons and armour, you are sunsetting my attachment to and history with my character..

This is the history of Destiny. There was a major and dramatic sunsetting of gear during D1 and then they slowly reintroduced the same weapons or exotics back into the game. Do you remember when they sold us back a less effective version of the Gjallerhorn? It was about that time I stopped playing Destiny for a long time. I bought back in after the split with Activision and the content was descent for a little while. Now, I’m fatigued on the constant, monotonous grinding for the same drops that I either use for upgrading or to trash. I would be happy to grind for new gear but instead the player base is expected to grind for a new version of the same gear (the best of which I have already masterworked). It seems like we are on hamster wheel rather than a progressive, content, and story driven player experience. I love this game for so many reasons, but lately it’s stale. Season of the Worthy was a garbage season. Season of the Arrival isn’t really any better, yet. It’s more grinding for the same stuff. There is a lack a creativity in the content. This is only compounded by sunsetting weapons. A lesson that I had hoped had been learned by Bungie several seasons ago. I want to play the season that I have already paid to play, not the commercial for the upcoming pay to play subscription. (I really miss buying a game and it was simply a completed product. DLC used to be a bonus) Anyway, as I did before, I will make the decision with my wallet. I will continue to play this season and make my ultimate decision after giving this season a fair shot. However, if I was making my decision tomorrow about spending more money on Destiny, I’d pass.

The "power creep" argument is obviously a lie.

52 RespuestasBungie fanboys “this will mean people will try new weapons” “Bungie will release new weapons” New season same gun but higher level. Means people grind again for their god roll. So much for new weapons. Stupid

33. Out of a total of 39. That is the number of the Masterwork Legendary weapons in my inventory that sunset after this season. Some are pinnacle/ritual weapons that I spent countless hours to acquire. Some are curated rolls that finally dropped after many hours of farming. Some are weapons I liked so much that I expended scarce resources to upgrade to a Masterwork. These guns are my orb generators, my preferred DPS guns and/or my most versatile weapons. And after this season, 33 of them will likely never be equipped again. What a waste. 😡 At a minimum, MW weapons should never sunset, just like Exotics.

1 RespuestaThe ones that hurt the most for me are 21% Delirium and Loaded Question. Ouch.

10 years from now, friends will ask me: "Describe the game called Destiny?" Me: "It's a game about Bounties?. . . . . . That's all I can remember."
-
They should just make D3 then, and leave d2 and its weapons and memories behind
-
Wasn't there a comment by a dev somewhere that said the mismatched light cap of the same weapons was a glitch and will eventually be fixed? I thought there was (but I can't find it) That goes for the Last Wish and Garden raid weapons as well that are showing up at 1060 still.

Editado por A KOOL POP TART: 6/15/2020 6:04:57 PMI've been using the same scathlock I got back in y1. I tried finding a better rifle, but it's just perfect for me and my playstyle. #comeandtakeit

1 Respuestaits not like you are not going to be able to equip them again, you wont be able to use them in pinacle activities further on. You can still use it in all activities that dont require high power level, like crucible, strikes, etc. And as time continues new weapons will be added, with new perks and a whole new visual, so that we can have something to play with. I agree with your point on how bungie is doing it now is not the best idea/method, but Weapon Sunsetting is going to be good down the road.

Indeed, time, grind, and tons of material grinded just gives you the will to keep playing and regrinding for same weapons you already have, luke did this in D1 and it didn't last long before it changed back guess it will change back here as well after the year is out or maybe before only luke knows.

Yep, this season illustrates exactly why sunsetting is a ridiculous idea. 10 or so new weapons this season, the rest are re- issues. (Aside from the new exotics we havent gotten yet, which of course aren't affected) If this is the trend, I cant possibly fathom how anybody could support it. If regrinding old gear is a good idea to you just on the basis of something to do, you've got to realize at some point that there is a bigger problem at hand here... Which is who/how the game is being led.

1 RespuestaMeh I deleted all my weapons. I now have like a kazillion cores

2 RespuestasYou hit it on the head. My Threat Level has history and a story behind it, even if I get a primary shotgun with the same or better perks it’s not the same
-
At least you can still get Last Hope. RIP my Blast Furnace I grinded idk how many forges for. Sigh.

2 RespuestasIf you're a Marine, don't call your rifle a gun. They HATE that. You could wind up standing on the balcony of your barracks, holding it up and repeatedly shouting "THIS IS MY RIFLE!!!" Or, maybe your DI will be even more creative...
-
Hippity hoppity, your rifle is now the vault's property
This is my Rifle.
Nope, it belongs to Bungie.

I want malfesance as a 150

I always see a rendition of this post every expansion. It's very interesting that it's always titled the same.

I went into their reveal stream with no heightened feeling of excitement, expectation or anything like that. Then, Bungie did what they do best: Trailers to create hype. Not 30 minutes after the stream was over, I crashed from my hype-high back down to anger and annoyance. Removing 5 Raids, the endgame activity for PvE, really pisses me off. Making me grind for my god rolls AGAIN is ridiculous and I applaud you on your well-written post! Last season, I logged the least playtime in the game since I joined in Rise of Iron. I played the first three days and I have already lost all motivation to continue. If Bungie doesn't change their game up, with all the issues there are, especially sunsetting, I will leave. No matter how good the progression (finally) in the story may be.
-
What if bungie introduced some kind of crafting system to upgrade the max power of some pieces of gear you really enjoy? Maybe there’s a limit so you only choose the steel that feels the best in your hands. It could be positioned almost like weapon maintenance or care that allows the gun to be carried through seasons. You can build on that history and continue racking up kills on the tracker. If the goal is to engage players in more destiny content, seems like a big opportunity. People love their personal god rolls, and they want to continue using those guns they built an emotional bod with. Why not capitalize on that sentiment?
-
1 RespuestaSidearms aren’t rifles lol In all seriousness I agree. They say they’re sunsetting our weapons even though they just end up releasing re-skins with higher power caps. How exactly does that prevent a power creep? Bungie’s really shooting themselves in the foot here.
-
Indeed.

1 RespuestaEditado por Dano2point0: 6/14/2020 9:22:35 PMThe weapon doesn't define you. It's just a tool. We shouldn't be so attached to our gear that we feel married to it. And if the stats mean that much then you'll find one space out of 500 to keep it as a memento.

Destiny is a fun game and I love playing it, but Bungie doesn't care about what you think or how you feel. They care about your money.
