I LOVE Destiny and I want it to do good for many years. But let me share my opinion on that sunsetting BS... its a poor excuse to make players use that reskinned gear. I honestly believe if they would make more interesting and creative weapons, people will start switching. For now though the current system is a joke. Not only that but its a massive disrespect to the players' time investment and money they put into this game. They're basically putting a time limit on all the gear we spent so many hours in trying to get. That's a lot of time investment... WASTED. Same goes for "sunsetting" actual content like whole planets and strikes and raids AND the tribute hall. All things we also spent countless hours working on... things we paid money for... WASTED. I know they might bring these locations back in the future, but with Bungie, who knows anymore? We might never see them again.
Let us play Destiny the way we want to play it, not the way YOU want us to play it. If some still use 2-3 years old weapons, let them. If the new weapons you make aren't being used then maybe start looking at the real reason why instead of limiting the players...? (btw its pretty easy)
Sunsetting is not needed. Make better, fun gear and people will start interacting with it more. If not then might as well make Destiny 3 since it looks like we cant even play with things we like... just reset the whole damn thing... Anyway, thanks Bungie. I will make sure to not spend any more money or time on you or your game in the future if this isn't reverted this fall.

3 RespuestasThe only people who like it in theory seem to be streamers and Kelly Green on here. Everyone else as far as I can tell is opposed to the idea. No idea why Bungie insist on doing something the player base is so opposed to.
-
Don’t care virgin
-
1 RespuestaSunsetting is now forgiven, a new teaser of future content and the live event conplaints are also gun. Luke Smithers knows how to play you all.
-
10 RespuestasIt’s funny that after all this time. After all of the disappointment. Sunsetting is the thing that’s going to make me quit this franchise. And it’s not even the idea in itself, it’s just the way bungie is going about it and how they refuse to acknowledge the communities dislike of it that is driving me away.
-
34 RespuestasIt is trivially easy to show why sunsetting is a bad idea and yet people defend it over and over again.
-
11 RespuestasThis season is my last. There’s no way in hell im going to pay for an expansion that removes half of the game I paid for.
-
I can tell you an unintended consequence for everyone - less orbs of light in public events, strikes, and patrol zones. Cause I can't be the only casual who's not going to bother masterworking weapons anymore after this. What it drops at is what it will be, since with sunsetting and the ever rising light level cap I'm just going to toss them out as soon as a higher version drops.
-
I was not a huge fan of the current seasonal model, but i still enjoyed the game and bought season that interested me. Sunsetting TOTALLY killed my mood for the game. What's the point of getting new guns if they will be obsolete one day? I love Destiny, but with the direction the game is taking, i completely stopped playing.
-
12 RespuestasThe parts of sunsetting I dont agree with: 1.) Pinnacle/ritual weapons being capped. Shit wasnt an rng drop you had to put in time and effort to get them. 2.) Armor being capped. With how much it costs to masterwork 1 piece of armor sunsetting makes it pointless to masterwork it anymore. 3.) If your going to retire a weapon retire it. Dont sell it back to me with the same look and perks I got months ago again just to have it at a "higher" power cap and call it "new". 4.) As the OP said. It's sort of obvious you cant keep up with making new stuff that's worthwhile.
-
Im fine with sunsetting, but what I am not is how they sunsetted cant name them all but for this I will say gnawing hunger auto. only to just bring it back this season with zero changes and just a different sunset date.bungie doing that is not ok. If they do that then the previous gun should just have that date. Lol you can't sunset a weapon and bring it back without atleast 1 change to the weapons.
-
Agree, sunsetting is the reason why my wife left me.
-
3 RespuestasLet me share my opinion - we chase after loot, if all you use is Bygones and never replace it there's no point of playing this kind of game.
-
True! They can make better loot is they try. I am having a good time with the new exotic grenade launcher and am looking forward getting the legendary darkdrinker. Not because of the damage, but it's unique. It can do good dps, it can crowd control, it can kill a bunch of adds and it looks cool. I want loot to chased not to be forced.
-
11 Respuestastime, yes. Money, no.

9 RespuestasI personally don’t care about sun setting weapons, I generally use the new gear anyway. Only truly powerful items do I continue to use (Delirium being one) No, the issue I have is them re introducing weapons that have the exact same perks/stats but a higher level cap. There’s ZERO reason for them to not allow us to infuse the “new” versions into the old to raise their level caps. It’s a insult to those that spent hours farming for the perfect roll but now they want you to do it again??? At that point Bungie is better off never reintroducing those weapons back in to circulation and just ditch them forever
-
2 Respuestasthere was ALWAYS sunsetting in Destiny There is ALWAYS sunsetting is games with updates Stop acting entitled to your gear you earned 2 years ago The ONLY POINT I agree with: If weapons RETURN - update old weapons
-
I prefer how other games do it slightly better gear slightly harder enemies in new content, and have difficulty choices in most content, this would also creates a sense of progress that Destiny 2 is missing. I chased some exotic and legendary's because they where slightly better, or had some interesting perk combo's we will get a lot less of that with sunsetting, we already earning back the exact same weapons+perks with higher power limit.
-
https://imgflip.com/i/452gz9 says it all. Sunsetting weapons doesn't actually create any design space. You will know if a gun feels or has similar stats to a previously existing weapon- there are real, discrete, identifiable metrics. The only way to make a weapon stand out it to make a weapon that's meaningfully different from previously existing weapons- whether they are sunsetted or not. Unless the plan is to drop the damage floor and have most weapons do substantially less damage, but then have the "New, powerful legendaries" do about the same amount of damage as we do now- there is categorically no way for sunsetting to meet the design goals of "Better weapons" and "halting power creep"
-
They are making new and interesting weaopns. But they are still over shadowed by reload perk + damage perk. And no matter how interesting you make them, unless they outclass Revoker for example, those players will never put it down. It's way too good. Yes they could nerf a few weapons instead. But I believe you're incorrect. Players will never put down the "top tier" or whatever you want to call them until either a more powerful weapon comes along or they are phased out. That's gaming today. Use the best in game, or you're behind. Thanks youtube and twitch! But keep in mind this is not the first time they have done this. It is in D2, but not the first time! Also the writing has been on the wall for a while from the blogs etc. Go re-read them. They claim the game is getting too large for them to tend to and still churn out new stuff simultaneously. So basically it's a manpower and time issue. Something almost every business faces. I'm not defending them! Merely pointing out that we were warned a while ago.
-
I have 2 of the Vanguard guns, and 1 more of the Gambit guns left with quests that I haven't completed. I have a few more of others, but I'm waiting to find out what will happen to not regular legendaries vs exotics, but quest items. What is the benefit of cashing in on that out-of-season gun (waiting for the archetype to "have its time in the sun") if it is just going to be phased out im a few cycles? No kill counts will accumulate over time, because archetypes get "rotated/balanced" each season, and it's possible a 'x' RPM 'y' gun just wasn't ready for those, and now you're out of a quest item's time of usefulness or "fun" season (see Prometheus Lens, Vex Mythoclast, Doctrine of Passing, Nirwen's Mercy / Grasp of Malok, Luna's Howl (or hand cannons in general for about an entire year), Graviton Lance, 600 RPM autos, or Lord of Wolves for examples of seasonal or periodic advantage). Too bad Bungie either doesn't know how they will work, or it hasn't been published efficiently enough for 'casuals' like myself who don't live on here or reddit to know yet.

2 RespuestasAnyone want to catch me up on whats going on with sunsetting? I’m too lazy to watch the stream. Are they giving our current armor the TTK and Shadowkeep treatment again?
-
Throwing your toys out the pram lol

Editado por Golden_Apple: 6/14/2020 10:43:45 AMSunsetting isn't new. The only issue is that they're reintroducing old gear with new perks

5 RespuestasSunsetting made me lose all interest in the game, and I’ve played D2 almost exclusively since launch. Since the launch of bows I’ve loved playing with them, and done an incredible amount of forges to get my ’perfect’ version of The Spiteful Fang. And now it’s gonna be taken away? Why? Because of power creep? In Y1 I fell in love with Quickfang, only to see it become obsolete in Y2. But then, suddenly, there was Goldtusk. So when I logg on now, I have these two weapons I’m playing with that are very dear to me, and they’re both gonna be gone come Beyond Light. And they expect me to pre-order my nerf? I understand pinnacle weapons were a mistake, I knew this when they first launched them. But why am I being punished for Bungies mistake?
-
Agreed. Chasing gear doesn’t seem as fun.

1 RespuestaThink if how much money they'd save and make cutting Luke Smith out of the company, seriously what is wrong with that idiot
