Since the release of the new Season the loading times (on console at least), which weren't the fastest to begin with, have become quite abysmal. And they seem to get worse with every addition (Season) to the game. Yesterday I actually timed it with a stopwatch on my smartphone to see just how long in actual numbers. We started one of the daily Legendary Lost Sectors and I timed how long it took before we both had visuals on screen and could start our run. The fastest was a minute with the slowest load time approximating two minutes(!). This is unacceptable. And flying to a destination or the Tower isn't faring any better. It sure takes out any fun there is left in this game.
And no, it is not my internet connection. I have a company grade broadband connection with a 8-13 ms ping time (yes, I checked). My Xbox is connected via a CAT6 cable to a brand new high speed gaming router with MIMO capability. There is no PC downloading stuff in the background when I play Destiny. My modem/ router are both fully dedicated to the game at that point. Since I'm playing wired there is no packet loss. I have only the one smartphone in the house which is not being used at the time I'm playing the game. So, there's nothing on my side throwing a spanner in the works.
