The lack of rewards is the reason the community is the way it is

The biggest issue this game faces from a motivation stand point is that their are no worthy rewards. The biggest backlash we have seen in this game are due to bad rewards and rewards not meeting the expectations. Examples are the final assault that had no reward and was a huge let down. Due to lore implications as a community we all thought we would get an New final quest and the IMAGO LOOP. All we got was poop( so sorry) and boss switch. From a paying players perspective it was a lazy ending from someone who already has our money. Then the CoT puzzle based on it was our guardian in the gave and it was our favorite weapon the disappointment after all that work was a free season pass exotic. What a huge let down. Does no one at Bungie have foresight? Cause how could you not see the backlash coming. Crucible has zero desirable rewards for any player for the last 2-3 seasons. The vendor who has the same items since 2018 is a complete waste of time. I could spend the 3k crucible tokens today and not get 1 item I would keep. Vanguard the exact same. Dungeons are great ideas but having zero exclusive guns or armor is another glaring example of how lack of rewards if creating a hostile environment between paying gamers and lazy developers. I don’t like calling developers lazy. But the proof is overwhelming. The lack of rewards across the game is undeniable. The last issue I have with rewards is the paid freebies. Please stop giving me an exotic cause I paid for season pass. When did exotics become purchasable? My fear is that soon you can buy exotic engrams from Tess for brightdust/ silver. And for those who think I’m wrong eververse was snuck in the game as a Trojan horse only to sell emotes to fund events. That load of shyt turned into items being stripped from the game(dungeon ship ghost sparrow) and vendors being purposely not updated to force you to spend money for new armor sets every season. Eververse from Bungies perspective is said to help keep the game going and updated. But all that ever gets updated is the eververse so that was just bs. The lack of vendor reset is directly tied to eververse influence on the game. Edit: I created a post about what I would like to see to fix rewards. Please read if you have the chance https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/255037749/0/0

  • The game is just bad at every corner. That's why the community is the way it is. No bad game has a healthy community. I dare someone to name a single big game that defies this.

    • Imagine needing a reward to play a game. Most of us play games because they are fun and don’t require loot to brag about. You should try it sometime.

      • Well... at least they could up the drops of enhancement cores and prisms and ascendant shards all over and not just keep it to high level encounters.

      • There is zero way Bungie could keep up with the demand so that you never feel the game lacks rewards at any point. Bungie could drop 100 new weapons into the game tomorrow and by Crimson Days people would have all the rolls of every gun they want and we’d be back to people complaining there isn’t enough loot.

      • I thought it was really dumb that there wasn’t a single piece of exclusive Dungeon Gear with this newest dungeon. I thought there was quite a bit of feedback on the shattered throne regarding that? As for actual loot, I think Bungie needs to take a look at the perk pool for all the weapons. Right now, it seems like people only go for a damage increase perk and a fast reload perk. It’s a really boring system. I honestly miss Luck in the Chamber and final round. I also miss focused fire and hidden hand on primaries. For any that argue that perks like these would ruin crucible, crucible is already ruined. I’ve come to the conclusion that it will never be balanced and if anyone wants a balanced PVP that they can take seriously, they need to go elsewhere. I personally go back to halo. /rant I feel like more perks are needed to really liven up the loot pool. One other option they could try is to buff the none-damage based perks to make them more worthwhile.

              • Having to grind out a new armour set every season is why I've stopped playing. By the time you get a good stat roll and get your mods back the season is pretty much over. With the seasonal reset format Bungie has pretty much said none of what you do now affects anything in 12 weeks time so if you don't like the current season by the second week you might as well just stop until the next one comes around.

              • It’s not the lack of rewards it’s the lack of quality rewards. There used to be strike specific gear that had you wanting to run strikes for a chance to get them. Crucible exclusive gear that had you coming back (Eyasluna anyone?) and the raid gear had unique perks and the raids themselves mechanics were fun and not to overly complicated. D2 has a Quantity over Quality problem.

                • Personally i would like to see more catalyst added in. Most people complain about there drop rate but i see them drop all the time. When a new catalyst comes out it takes me around a day to get (im not farming activities but casualy doing them) I am running out of things to do and been keeping myself busy by doing catalyst

                  • To me its not about the rewards, its about the content. Its all pretty forgetable, and uninspired. Its like Bungie is trying to focus on churning out content instead of trying to do quality control to see if it is enjoyable and is worth investing my interest into.

                    • Try to look at it from an owner's point of view: The franchise was rescued by hiring The Taken King geniuses, to gain a loyal, paying player base. From there; the goal was to get as much value while giving less value back, making the owners rich. The franchise tanked again with the release of D2 being far inferior to TTK. They push "Go Fast" update, recapturing some of the loyalty back, then achieve 20% of the pinnacle TTK with The Dreaming City, and 'put the icing on the cake' by offering Free to Play - bringing in millions more players. So going to the current seasonal standard and getting as much as they can from the player base, along with Eververse; the owners are now at a level of wealth where they could do just about anything and already achieved their initial goal. Sure, the less vanilla of us would like a more symmetrical distribution of wealth, as I'm sure most Bungie employees do. But understanding good ole American Greed can result in more wisdom value, if not gaming value, for many of us. Besides; maybe they'll sell to the likes of Google and we'll have one of the best infrastructures available in the world, launching a D3 with even better programmers than TTk ones... or not.

                      • The devs aren’t lazy, there just aren’t enough of them working on Destiny to make enough content for a game like this.

                        • Yep.... Destiny 2 is no longer a looter shooter, unless of course you are new light/rarely played since release. Anyone who spent even an hour a day playing this game since launch likely has most if not all of the loot they want. EVERY core activity should have new and unique rewards EVERY SEASON if they are going to continue this structure. One unique thing to do every week (devils ruin quest for example) simply is not enough to keep people interested. The player base craves things to chase whether it be guns, armor, ghosts, ships, cosmetics, or whatever else that interests them. I could care less what's on that pass when the activities we have to choose from to level have next to no reward. Bungie should not spend all of their resources making a temporary activity (Vex Assault and Sundial) and pass rewards while the pillars of the game desperately need these resources. Why should I do strikes, crucible, old raids, blind well, menagerie, forges, or any other old content when that's all it is OLD CONTENT WITH OLD REWARDS. These old end game/pillar activities should remain difficult (increase the power level as ours increases) and receive new rewards (including pinnacle power rewards)if they are going to be left in the game. Instead of only giving me a pinnacle for the newest raid, why can't all be bumped up to the same level and allow me to choose? Same goes for PvP. Why can't I play solely PvP and receive the same number of pinnacles as I would in PvE? Overall, in my opinion, Bungie should put new seasonal content on hold and create a sustainable way to update the majority of the game each season. Give players in all areas accessibility to comparable rewards and let them choose what they actually enjoy playing. If that means less new activities or a more generic pass, so be it. If that means they need to bring in more studios, get on it. The current seasonal design just doesn't mesh with the the type of game Destiny is and what it currently is lacking. Show the community you are working to make the entire game better leading up to the release of Destiny 3.

                          • And what good is tons of rewards with no meaningful place for them? Im sorry but I disagree, heavily. There's plenty of loot to go chase. Sure there can be more and it can be made better but thats not priority. We already have good enough loot in the meantime. Bungie needs to make more content that requires better loot and specific stuff. Not only the content itself but the enemies too. Like, "Hey Captains take more damage from Hand Cannons!" So if you do something with tough captains then slap on that. Not only would it add more depth and reason but it'd simply allow for harder content to be put in without being overkill.

                            • And also the endgame mechanics. Does anyone really think adding "shield break" and champions who require certain mods to damage a real engaging way to engage players?
