Do not start activities without a full fireteam.

Forges especially, it a colossal waste of my -blam!-ing time starting up this terrible activity to begin with. Then to start the activity with no one in a matchmake activity puts the icing on the cake. Make it to the end of wave 2 only to be spawn killed by every damn add the game can spawn in one spot to fail it with 2 more charges to go. Complete ass.

      • it depends on the activity. Crucible should never start without a full lobby, but that would only increase the wait time which would cause people to leave because they are impatient. If there is no one else playing strikes, or if your are using a trick to play solo to grind bounties or something, this would be incredibly stupid because it would require you to get a full team just for them to sit around while you complete all your bounties. After about 2 minutes, it the game dosen't find any other players, the activity will start anyway

      • Solo'ing a forge is easy with the right loadout.

      • Forges, crucible of any kind, gambit, etc. I mean being as there is plenty of players in matchmaking activities, at least currently, there is absolutely no reason to be put into an activity without the lobby being full.

      • It might be cause next to no one actually does forges any more. So if you want to wait hours to get a team that's on you if rather get put in so I can play and earn stuff. Plus these are very soloable. Hell they were being solo'ed within weeks of them being out lol

      • The frustrating part is they don't start it with less than the number needed unless there is nobody there.. the problem is that people quit or log off while entering the event. You can't stop that from happening.

        Yeah it's frustrating when i go to do a forge and it starts before all players are loaded in, newer activities like the Sundial are good for this, only able to be started when all players are in Edit: same with Reckoning, you land as the portals opening, 2 players jumping in while your fourth is still loading in

          What they should have done was just make Forge difficulty dynamic, based on the number of players in the Forge. As more players join, more enemies pop up. And when there's only 1 person in the Forge, the timer is extended and there are fewer enemies. There is no way it would be that difficult to simply code Forges to count the number of players in the activity at the start, and set those conditions as variable and based on that player count... and then dynamically adjust those conditions as more players join in. Then they could make Forges have as many players as the game can handle in one activity, which would be more interesting than _only_ 3 players. They could also randomize enemy spawns to anywhere on the map to keep things fresh, and have more things within the match which can help extend Forge time so that even a solo player who isn't great at killing the blues and throwing batteries, can still keep putting time on the clock so that the activity doesn't end prematurely before they get a chance to complete the Forge. Also, Bungie could have AI bot teammates to help solo players, if there are no other players in the queue or it's taking too long to match you with other players for the activity. That would keep queue times mercifully short and allow underplayed activities to be played even with a smaller or even dwindling playerbase. Far too much of the Destiny franchise has required multiplayer, yet precious few things have matchmaking to allow for said multiplayer, that without AI bots (and well-coded ones at that), Destiny is under constant threat of having too many activities that cannot be completed solo, which only serves to drive solo players away from the game, and thus contributes to a dwindling playerbase. And once that exodus of players reaches that critical mass where no one activity in the game, PvE _or_ PvP can queue up and find a match, that is when this game will become effectively unplayable for all end game content, leaving only patrols, side missions, and single player campaigns designed for solo players to be able to be played, which will be the death of the game. Bringing in advanced AI bots would literally save the game from immediate extinction and lessen the impact of players losing interest and leaving, since every activity, every match, every end game would still be able to be completed even by a solo player. Whether it's cost-effective to keep the servers running after losing that many players is a different matter entirely, but at least it would give more recently started players a chance to play all aspects of the game, rather than be stuck forever in queues waiting for teammates who will never show up because they don't exist, and that could even ensure that at times when the state of the game is deeply unpopular, the game can still effectively function with fewer players, since solo players would be aided by AI bot teammates/fireteams to keep things interesting.         • Agree, I'd rather wait for 3 - 5 minutes in queue then waste the same amount of time failing to solo a forge.

        • First all activities should have the option for solo or MM. not that it would be scaled, but some people like the challenge of solo strikes and whatever so there needs to be that. Secondly yes, if you queue into something for MM it simply shouldn’t start without a third or fourth or sixth or whatever. Not sure what’s hard about that. I’d rather back out of a queue if it takes too long than continually load into something without enough people.

        • Or they could build activities that scale in difficulty so you could do a forge solo and it would be just as challenging as with two other people

          • I would not mind limited players in fire teams if the PVE was scaled to take that into account. At the very least, give more reward for completing strikes and forges and stuff with less than full crews.

            • So the solution to not being able to find blue berries to get matched with for activities is telling blue berries not to even try searching for other players. Ok
