Yeah. It just isn't worth it. I want a single gun from the loot pool, and I'm forced to do a quest in order to turn in tokens. That quest also forces me to pollute my loot pool with armor that isn't even new. On top of that, the quest dictates how people play, making for some boring, artificial matches. Especially when 4 of your teammates are crouching by heavy so they can get their quest done.
I have turned in 565 IB packages (11,300 tokens), and haven't even gotten a single Gunnorah's with a decent roll.
We have the same old armor and the same old weapons. Nothing worth chasing. The one gun I want isn't worth it.
And then we get to a sandbox that's filled with cheese:
Erentil with backup plan.
High impact fusions getting 40 meter kills. (Does backing up even work as a counter anymore? Seriously. And at 40 meters, pulses and HCs now suffer damage dropoff, so their TTK can't keep up with the charge time. A scout can't at all, so that's fun.)
Hand cannons with a further 3 tap potential than most but with zero recoil.
Shotguns that have all the benefits of an aggressive frame, but have twice the handling and a faster rate of fire.
OEM tracking. All that needs to be said there.
Snipers with so much aim assist they shoot through flinch. (Snipers weren't even remotely used until serious outliers in terms of aim assist were used. Fact. Don't even argue it.)
Clarification here: That AA + incoming flinch dragging reticles to the opponent's head without any input from the user is the bigger issue for me. Snipers aren't OP at all. I just wish flinch didn't do any work for them.
Lag in literally every lobby.
Complete mismatches and mercy rules.
Terrible spawns, even on the maps that were supposed to be "fixed." The spawn trap at A is just as bad as before and Citadel is still a mess.
Etc.
It seems like for every way Bungie could have widened the skill gap with special weapons, they introduced an option that pretty much doesn't have one. Or they take the skill out of 1v1s with OEM.
The cheese so bad I don't even care what the scoreboard looks like anymore. I'm just there for bounties and that's it. And let's be real. I'm not the only one.
And it has been this way for months. Is any of this really indicative of the "renewed focus" for PvP we were promised? I think not.
Edit: I'm not calling for any nerfs. I'm just saying the sandbox is full of weapons/gear that are the easiest and most effective option for their type. It is of my opinion that the easiest options shouldn't be the most effective as well. Granted, that'll never happen, but one can hope.

As you said, until low-zoom scopes and higher AA were added, snipers were barely used in D2. I think snipers need high AA to remain relevant in this game due to the fast pace of PvP and console being 30fps- which also could be part of the reason you get sniped so much while flinching someone. The flinch in this game is actually insanely high across the board. But that initial period where you start to shoot them on your screen just doesn't always translate to them being flinched. I'd be cool with less AA on snipers if everything else was more balanced.

2 RespuestasHere's the trick to getting something good rolled: Just stop caring. I didnt want a Gannoras. Got a god roll. I have so many god rolled Dukes, that I've been feeding them to my Rat. Mindbenders? I dont want it so badly I get it dropped from Saladin!!! Ps. Last part was a joke.

2 RespuestasYou have THAT many tokens but can't compete one small quest that literally took me a few hours?? Either you were just AFK the entire time.. or you horded tokens from previous seasons and had ZERO intention of actually playing it this go round. Either way that's on you man. Over the entire week .. I saw maybe 3 fusions.. mostly snipers, sidearms, shotguns and scouts.

8 RespuestasMy buddy said people would still be whining and crying about OEM even after the nerf. He was right.

I’m glad I’m looking for completely different loot when I go into iron banner.

4 RespuestasI get the frustration with this quest on the rocket step, but honestly this sounds like a Player that may not enjoy Destiny's PvP all that much. I got my quest done with in a few hours start to finish. My main issues with destiny right now is definitely the lack of variety. Bungie has 1 rRpid-Fire Scout Rifle that can be randomly rolled, 1 Rapid-Fire Sidearm random rolls, and like 2 random rolls Linear Fusion Rifles. I could go on, but in short if variety is the spice of life Bungie is making a bland game

Not without some serious changes. I wish they would go back to the old reward system. Few bounties and high level drops at the end of matches. Now you have to do a dumb ass quest to even turn in tokens??! -blam!- that man

2 RespuestasAt least give us an option to choose between an armor or weapon when ranking up. Dumping all this loot in the same pool is a shitty way to extend play time. Hope you get your IB shotty one day, OP.
-
100% agree. Plus the bullshit matchmaking against a team of six vs randoms like every other game. Skill based matchmaking is bullshit and only creates lag. Literally fighting people who were teleporting left and right. (Reported for network manipulation doubt the report button even works.)

1 RespuestaHave you seen the flinch aim assist video? Its crazy. If you're aiming at their head and you get shot then you're aim goes away from the crit spot.... BUT if you're aiming anywhere else around the head and you get hit... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXJvpfdmWS0

I feel ya, I really do. But this is where we part. There are counters to every meta (almost) and there will always be a quest step that not all people will be happy with. At least after this quest is completed, it's completed. Not tied to RNG, not any prerequisites...just shoot. What I DO have a problem with is things like Triumphs, Seals and Titles tied to RNG. I'm not going to speak on others abilities, but the quest for IB and all four bounties we're done on day 1. I've completed Strange Terrain plenty of times and still don't have that Osprey...that last thing I need for Wayfarer. That's pain, not 10 rocket launcher kills in the IB. IMHO Q.
-
Ah, another brave warrior who has fallen into despair over never getting Gunnora's Axe, let alone one with a decent roll..I feel you.
-
4 RespuestasBungie took the only aspect of the game that was just total fun, and turned it into another grind. I used to love when IB came around, now i dread it.

17 RespuestasSnipers weren’t used until we got options that had zoom values to use on our tiny maps, and also had fast enough handling to use on our tiny maps. Before beloved/revoker/twilight oath basically every sniper had garbage handling and at a minimum a 5.5x zoom value It was terrible
-
3 RespuestasI don’t really think snipers are a problem right now. I rarely ever get shot through flinch, and personally I get killed more by arbalest than with snipers. Maybe 140s could use some tuning (double body) but I don’t see many people with snipers. Let alone good snipers
-
4 RespuestasI get wanting a specific roll, but there are tons of easily available weapons that can get great rolls. Ib is just one source.
-
3 RespuestasWhat roll(s) are you looking for ?
-
I turned in about 800 tokens yesterday and got only 4 armor pieces. All the guns I got were trash and none of the armor dropped above 60 overall stats......I got ripped off.
-
Annnnnnd you know it I know it everyone knows it.....Trials is right around the corner.....Going to be torches and pitchforks for sure.

2 RespuestasI’ve played since D1 Iron Banner and this is the first time I’ve said this. This one has been the worst Iron Banner experience I’ve had. The experience as a whole has been underwhelming. From the armor to the matchmaking to the quest. You either Mercy rule or you get mercy ruled. Games are played fighting for heavy rather than flags. The Iron Symmachy armor set would’ve been more refreshing rather than the third Iron Truage set. The quest was fine till I got to the final step. I did like that they fixed the ability bounty and I really like the new shader.
-
5 RespuestasNot gonna argue with you experience with game but with regards to iron banner quest polluting your loot pool y did you pick it up the if you were farming for weapons They did clearly state you would have to complete steps of the quest to unlock armour again

2 RespuestasWow, that’s a lot of tokens Really shows that the RNG is broken But each day we keep hopin’ On a real note though, your post was well spoken
