Why Aren't More Gamers Completing Raids????

I play Destiny 2 on Xbox and was looking at my Achievements the other night, mainly the ones I don't have yet. Here's some info for you: Belly of the Beast - Complete the Leviathan Raid. 12.86 percent of gamers have achieved this. The Prestige - Complete the Leviathan Raid on Prestige difficulty. 5.29 percent of gamers have achieved this. Wishing for the Best - Complete the "Last Wish" Raid. 3.87 percent of gamers have achieved this. Granted this info relates to Xbox only, but damn, look at the number of gamers that have completed the raids! Now we hear Bungie is making the raids "more" challenging. I'd imagine the percentage of gamers that complete the next rounds of raids to be even lower. I see questions in the forum all the time about "who" Bungie makes the raids for, I mean, it's pretty obvious with all the manufactured hype over "Worlds First" placed on newly launched raids. There's a post on the front page where OP suggests the raids need to have more mechanics in them, suggesting there were more mechanics in D1 than D2 raids. It looks like to me that adding "more" mechanics into a raid only lessens the potential for the core group of players to actually finish it. I'd venture a guess that most players don't have a ready group of above-average players to complete a raid with. I understand that the Raid is supposed to be mainly for the skilled end-game player, but damn. I assume Bungie puts a lot of time into development of the raids, only to have a sliver of the player base actually experience them. Bungie seems to have lost focus on which group of gamers make up the "majority" of their player base, and that's sad.

  • It happened during CoO. We had a clan, friends that known each other since D1. Then we played in D2. I had less time to play so actually I am only done like 5 levi clears 1 prestige(expect the prestige dogs) and 2 EoW. Then my clan my friends slowly get bored with no content. Nothing to chase. So most of them just left the game. A couple come back to the game during forsaken, but they found an empty clan so they either joined another one or turned into solo players. I stayed until warmind then I quit. Come back to forsaken with a new friend. So we are duo players, created a new clan for fun. Now I just can't bring myself to raiding. I miss out on stuff but I can't be bothered.

  • Learning the raids if your a solo player is alot of time, especially if your on lfg trying to find a guide for said raid.. I've said this from day one, there should be a learn raid mode below the proper raid so people can learn them and take part. Once you know what to do raids take half the time.

  • I used to raid weekly. Two.main reason why I don't rn... 1. LFG is -blam!-ing toxic as -blam!-. 2. Rewards not worth the trouble if dealing with number 1 on top of learning mechanics. Bonus 3. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but raids aren't that fun as in D1.

    • Most can not complete even the simplest tasks. In D1 I would take many through nut had to stop because to many under the age of about 25 had no idea what "counter clockwise" was and now you have "clockwise" in CoS so there is no hope.Last Wish is the best D2 raid, pretty close to D1 style and length.

    • I say it's a mix of less intriguing rewards, mechanics, and revive system. Rewards: d1 rewards in raids were static up until kings fall. In my opinion random roll raid weapons kinda suck, good everywhere else though. In D1 you did encounters knowing the chance of the drop you want. Now its chance of the drop plus rolls you want. Raid specific perks on armor used to be great because it was an added bonus, again that came static on the armor. Now its hope you get the mod you want. The mechanics in the D1 raids were great because it was a means to damage during damage phase or healing etc. Now its mechanics to get to a boring DPS dump. Rinse wash repeat. The revive system is also awful. If you run out of revive tokens you're screwed where as back in D1 you could clutch it and save the day. Now the mechanics are so prioritized on everyone being alive to get to the damage phase a slight hiccup is a wipe.

      • The puzzles are just too complex for 90% of LFG fireteams. The problem is they are designing these encounters for Datto and Gladd to race for worlds first , without focusing on the greater community experience. Datto and Gladd have clans they have been raiding with since Vault Of Glass and Forever 29. Calling out symbols on a bosses eye to another team in another room is something designed for people that are used to each others callouts, and are instantly on the same page, ie people in a clan. Yes its possible to complete such encounters with strangers, but usually it takes multiple wipes to get everyone on the same page , and most people are not willing to suffer through the growing pains of a newly formed fireteam. I like Crown because it has one basic mechanic through the entire raid, if you can swap buff , and shoot crystals you can beat any encounter. COS is perfect for LFG fireteams , simple but challenging , with minimal communication required

        • my opinion. too complex to be fun, plus more effort needed before even starting the event. during the event puzzle this puzzle that then stand and dps. how about dps those guys ,then lure that thing, dps those things untill they do this thing all over, now follow that while interfering with its motion, now dps it till it changes its response. at this point now its distract it while others dps it from somewhere else or vice versa, while somebody aquires the finisher charge to bust on it to end .

        • One chest per character per week=one and done. No need to do it again unless clan mates need an extra filler.

        • Because there is nothing special to get out of raids. Not needed for max light, and the weapons in other activities are better.

Because Bungie fails to realize the reason we ran the raids multiple times per week in D1 was because the weapons and armour were worth the trouble, especially in D1 yr1. Now the rewards are laughable, with the exception of the Leviathan weapons in D2 yr 1. I’m not going through lfg hell for mediocre weapons and ugly armour, I value my free time too much.

        • I think that the new raids rely too much on mechanics. I actually enjoy Spire but it is extremely mechanic heavy and hard to teach. Raids that are too hard to teach don’t encourage new players to try. When a raid is difficult but it doesn’t rely on all 6 people doing the exact right thing at the exact right time, more experienced players are willing to teach new folks because it’s possible to complete an encounter even with mistakes. Encounters that fail unless everyone is perfect is overwhelming for a lot of people, especially when you figure in the players that are toxic to the inexperienced. My opinion is that Last Wish is the best D2 raid by far. Vault of Glass is still my all time favorite

        • Because they rage to damn much. Spent nearly 3 hours in a raid because one we kept screwing up and two because people kept quiting. Spent more time trying to find people to play with then actually doing the raid.

        • Cause most of D2s Raids are Boring Glorified Strikes with no Meaning and like 1 Lame Mechanic for The whole Raid we need more raids like Wrath of the Machine- The Taken King - Vault of Glass - Last Wish

        • My issue with raids is that once you’ve done it once you’ve done it a thousand times. They’re exactly the same each time. Unless you’re after specific raid loot then there really is no point in it

            • I’m gonna keep it a buck 50 with you, the raids have no incentives when it comes to weapons and armor rewards. In Destiny 2. The only raid exotic weapon that’s even worth going after is 1k voices and once you have it there’s really no point in even playing any of the raid unless you’re going for seals or you’re just a perfectionist. D1 raids not only had an incredible design and fun factor for replay ability but it had some of the best endgame armor and weapons in the entire game and had people coming back for more every week casual or hardcore it didn’t matter. But hey that’s just my opinion

              • Just have bad luck on lfg. Majority of groups I find have a few that flip their lid at everyone for one mistake. Every time I had managed to complete raids in D1 was when my clan still played and when I found lfg players that just relaxed and had a laugh which was very rare. So D2 raids just leave a sour taste as I can't be bothered with the toxic lfg people that I experienced in D1

                • Revive tokens I can't see very well and randoms deaths will happen no matter how hard I try. So I refuse to put any weight on a teams shoulders like that. Also I REALLY wanna do Last Wish but the very end where you rerun the raid is very dark and chaotic so impossible for meto do. Trust me....I WANT to Raid in this game. I did it a lot in D1.

                  • These numbers don't mean anything at all. Look at the other achievements ! 48,93% of players have reached lvl 20 and only 60,70% of players have done an heroic public event. Do you really believe they are accurate ???

                    • It was easy when I was in a clan that raided. But the chase for max light got to be so accessible that raiding became kind of moot. I haven't raided since Eater of Worlds. The only reason I'm thinking of trying to raid again is because I would like to get the moments of triumph seal. Even then, sitting around on lfg trying to get a group to join up to help someone who hasn't raided in a while just hasn't worked out.

I understand why players didn’t raid Y1, I didn’t, Year 1 was terrible. It’s hard to get back into it after a year not raiding. Theres loads of players that don’t have time or simply don’t like using LFG. There’s also no challenge too many mechanics and not enough shooting. I’m all for mechanics if there’s plenty of shooting alongside.

                        • Raids are dumb. The LFG doesn’t work because they are all people who don’t have a team and won’t stay long enough to complete the raid. It’s not fair that raids are this difficult. Take for example crown of sorrow. You have to destroy loads of adds. Balance the witches blessing, Kill the ogres, kill the deceptions, and shoot ghalran’s hands, all so you can damage the boss. Then you have to repeat. That leaves a large margin for error. And they expect people to complete it for moments of triumph. Raids aren’t even fun anymore. They’re basically a chore. There way to repetitive. Once you know how to do it you should be able to complete it. Without spending hours hoping that in the next attempt thing will finally go perfect. Which they obviously won’t.

Destiny would be dead without raids. Its like a car without wheels; who would buy it? You need exciting end game content for the core community and longevity. No longevity without a core community. Its very simple. Raids are not that hard. You just need 2-4 clears and you will master them. Every person who don't run raids will give you a different reason. Because I don't want to talk to others; I don't like to learn mechanics... because its raining, sun is shining, don't like hunters, don't like warlocks and whatever. For those players destiny 2 offers strikes = don't need to talk, nearly no mechanics at all and bosses are one hit = for each their own.
