We don’t need a battle pass. All we need is to go back to the simpler days of Destiny 1. Daily heroic mission Weekly heroic strike Nightfall Raid Vanguard, crucible, Iron Banner and exotic bounties Doing all that on 3 characters is plenty of content for the week. Best of all....NONE OF IT IS MONETIZED!

The only problem I have with it is that you can pay to complete it at the end of the season. They shouldn't implement anything that even brings about a discussion about pay to win.

My favorite rebuttal to these issues is simply: “don’t buy it.” If the game is important enough to you, buy it. If you don’t have the money, save. You have a month. If you’re not in favor of these kind of schemes, do not partake. There is much worse games asking for much more money y’all.

Dude just stop. I'm tired of this "money has to come from somewhere" argument. You're not their accountant, you're not a financial expert, and you're not a video game marketer kindly stop talking about finances as if you know anything when you can't even make your argument without completely ignoring the fact it's a paid pass on a paid expansion to a game that IS PAID. it may go free in a month, but the last time I checked, all of us playing, paid for the damn thing so you can just drop the 'free to play" argument because it's a non sequitur. Jesus christ, these defense force "expert" arguments get more ridiculous with time. The only one that doesn't understand economics is you people who think you can just shout "money" and everything is okay. Economics are not an excuse. If you actually understood economics you'd know about supply, demand, and most importantly consumer confidence. Do you know what consumer confidence is? You keep spouting this "Economics" crap so surely you do, right? No, ofcourse you don't, because you can't be bothered to actually understand the subject you're playing. The worth of a product is governed by the amount of faith consumers have in the quality of a product, as confidence drops, so does profitability. Economics don't just go one way, Things like lack of explanations, overpricing, lack of quality, etc... affect consumer behavior, so those people you're trying to shut up by shouting "economics" at them, are an important factor of economics. You're literally trying to use economics to prevent economics which is just the most befuddling thing in this whole argument. There is more, but honestly I'm tired, I'm tired arguing with people that can't even understand the terminology they use, let alone things like digital goods distribution and creation.

What exactly is this battle pass stuff? I thought it was £30 for the game....wasn't aware I needed more passes 😬

When you don’t associate loot with the world and specific locations/activities in a looter shooter, you are doing it wrong. Battle Passes are not appropriate for looter shooters in their current state. They need to evolve accordingly...but Bungie apparently doesn’t have the resources or the willpower to modify and improve the concept of the battle pass to fit the genre.

I'm open to the idea, but it needs to be completable through reasonable playtime. They really screwed the engram system up this last season and I'm hoping this pass doesnt become more of the same.

People who support this garbage manage to make me lose more faith in this community. I remember when people complained about Eververse potentially going pay to win. Pay to win is here and now what do people do? Get on their knees and worship it!

Personally, I’m not too bothered by it. The fact that they didn’t explicitly call it a battle pass when it was announced means they’re probably aware of the negative connotation tied to the phrase. Which, in turn, means that probably made an attempt to leave out the less desirable features. They made it so the only major gameplay-altering rewards tied to the paid battle pass can also be earned from the free pass (albeit, after a much longer time). The other paid rewards seem to be either cosmetics, currency, or materials. (Leviathan’s Breath is a quest weapon separate from the battle pass. Same with the Vex invasion weapons) Additionally, the fact that tiers can only be earned by playing the game, at least until the last month of the season, means that most people won’t be running around on day 1 with the (possibly broken) highest tier weapon. Ideally, you wouldn’t be able to buy tiers at all, but seen as Bungie is basically giving away the first year of content, I don’t really mind it (especially if this means that Eververse could get a little less invasive). On top of that, this gives free-to-play players something to do. Up until now, most new content has been tied to a timed event or a paid DLC. But with the battle pass, I’ll have something new to chase each season, even if I don’t buy the DLC. (Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but the seasonal artifact is also available to all players) Finally, you seem to be able to gain tiers simply from getting XP, rather than completing a set of very specific timegated challenges. I see this as a win because I won’t be forced to play gamemodes I don’t like in order to get gear tied to the battle pass (looking at you, Gambit). All in all, is this what I wanted? No. Would I take this over more vendor gear/world drops? No. Are people upset for no reason? No. Is this a bad addition? Absolutely not. It gives players who don’t buy season passes something to do while giving players who did a few extra rewards. TL;DR This isn’t that bad and Bungie have made attempts to improve on the battle pass formula by tweaking/removing some of the more annoying elements. Edit: Grammar

Rise of iron had a similar battle pass, not sure why peeps are complaining gives you a direct source of loot.
