TLDR: Explosive Payload reduces weapon damage on most targets, please fix!
So did plenty of testing in the Triumph Hall using Waking Vigil and Sunshot, both same light level and same impact, no mods equipped and Sunshot has explosive payload and Waking Vigil does not. Some weird damage discrepancies since the nerf to this perk.
Against minors, explosive payload causes the gun to deal 12.5% LESS damage against minors. I noticed this first in EDZ patrol when I saw that Waking Vigil can one shot kill Cabal legionaires but Sunshot can’t which is why I did further testing in Triumph Hall.
Against bosses though, the explosive payload perk causes the gun to deal 9.1% MORE damage for whatever reason.
Please fix this bungie, the perk shouldn’t increase or reduce damage of the gun.

2 RespuestasIt also robs you of a Precision kill credit if the explosive damage causes the fatal blow. It's all in the name of balance. Add the 2 damage values, the flinch, the no range penalty on explosive damage (if I remember correctly), and it's still a great perk.

1 RespuestaIsn’t that because of the blast radius hitting bosses and not minors? Also, doesnt explosive payload have no damage fall off? Which makes it still a really good perk for Scouts and Bows.
